    Hi guys.

What are your thoughts? I can get a nice deal at PH today, but is PH better than Monte Carlo? What should I do?

    Thanks!

In my opininon, PH is a lot more lively as far as the Casino and the overall property goes. Its a lot more geared towards the younger partiers. However, the pool at Monte Carlo beats the one at PH all day every day!

I have stayed at both and enjoyed both, I will not stay at PH during the summer because the pool sucks. Dont forget the other big difference, PH is a Caesars property and MC and MGM prop. Resort fees apply at MC.

You have almost picked props that couldn't be more opposite. If you want to party and have a lively time and don't need a good pool then take PH.

If you want a more relaxed scene with a great pool then MC.

    It's just that simple.

I think MC has a lot more character, PH seems sterile to me. PH does have the Miracle Mile, but once you go around you've seen it all, unless you can shop in those stores this is no advantage; MC has City Center next door for shopping too. I think the buffet at MC is better, and it has other restaurants that are good. Diablo's can be fun, seems to be for a younger crowd, and the Pub looks like it goes after the youngsters at night.

Captain Ron is right on regarding the pool. I have been at the MC pool when there was a DJ and pool party (Friday afternoon in June).

I will admit, I have not stayed at PH, so I can't comment on the rooms or access; and I am a fan of the south strip so my opinions may be biased.

If you can get a good deal on PH, I'd go there. Otherwise, I'd go with Monte.

Normally, PH is extremely overpriced IMO. The quality of the hotel does not warrant its normal rates. But, you said you could get a deal, so that should make it worthwhile.

I'd say that PH has more character than MC. MC is more laid back to me. But MC is a good value for the price plus you can walk to Aria without going outside, and Bellagio is a short tram ride away.

I would personally choose Planet Hollywood because you have a fun casino which Monte Carlo does not & also everything is within a short walk. I mean Cosmo is about 3 minutes via a pedestrian bridge and Aria is about 5 minutes. Plus you have a nice little mall with good cheap eats for breakfast and lunch. I just personally have never enjoyed my times at Monte Carlo.

To quote my buddy Andy in "The Forty Year Old Virgin"

    Ho fer sho!

The quality of the rooms are way better than the base ones at MC. Miracle Mile Shops and accessibility to the rest of strip rank it a few notches above.

    Stayed at both several times.
Funkhouser has it right.Ho fer Sho.
Pool at Mc is the only real benefit as PH pool is pretty weak.
    Outside of that,PH wins.
    Rooms are better
    More lively casino
    Miracle Mile is right there

I stayed at the MC hotel, not at the PH. I spent a lot of time at both casinos.

MONTE CARLO: I very much enjoyed the MC for the nice hotel and room, great pool, top location on the Strip with lots of other great places to visit (NYNY, MGM, Bellagio, PH, Paris, etc) nearby, ánd good food court + Wallgreens accross + CVS next to it. Also imo a huge plus is the free use of the CityCenter tram, which runs between Monte Carlo - CityCenter - Bellagio. So you can take the tram until Bellagio for example and then continue walking from there. What I enjoyed less is the resort fees of 20$ p/n (although at MC they come with internet in the room which is a big plus) and the buffet (just nothing special). Also the casino is nothing special and quiet, but I did enjoy playing there peacefully :peace: almost every night when I got back to the hotel, before going to the room to sleep. Overall I really liked it and I'm considering staying there again on my next trip in May.

PLANET HOLLYWOOD: I would like to stay at their hotel, but the prices are higher than other places which I love (almost) just as much. The location imo is the best on the Strip, as it's really in the middle of the center of the Strip. From there you can walk in each direction and have all the nice places within reach. Their buffet (Spice Market Buffet) is one of my TOP3 of best buffets. And I love to spend time at their casino and played there a lot. But that for me is no reason also to stay there, cause I don't like to sleep, play and eat at the same place all the time, I prefer to (have to) go outside and walk around a lot.

If the PH deal was really good, I would take it, just to have stayed there ones as well. But otherwise I would prefer the MC as my homebase and enjoy the pool there, and visit the PH casino and buffet and all other places which I like from there.

Hope you have a great stay, whichever place you will choose! And will you let us know the outcome, ones you made up your mind?

Forgot to mention that the new Harmon Corner shops are great. The Super Two story Walgreens is awesome, they sell booze and just about everything else you need, without the major walk to ABC in MM. Not to mention they are 24 hours and reasonably priced. I picked up booze and Redbull last trip, along with tylenol.

Are the Harmon corner shops outside on the Strip next to PH?
I've stayed at Aria last few trips and did not make it down there.

Yes, the Walgreens is at the bottom of the pedestrian bridge that goes between Cosmopolitan and PH. McDonalds and some other shops are east around the corner.

Glad to hear that, as we are checking in about a week from right now! Never stayed there before, looking forward to it.

That being said, I've stayed at MC a few times and have nothing bad to say about it. It's quieter, less of a party atmosphere, but the service was always good, the room was comfortable and we actually won pretty decently there, which always helps!

I think you'll be fine with either choice. Personally, I would probably go with MC just because I like that location a little better and I'm an Mlife gambler. Now that I just typed that I thought to myself....hmmm I also like PH and having access to the monorail lol.

    Pros:

    Monte Carlo:

    - Easy access to tram to Bellagio
    - Food court for cheap eats
    - Connected to Aria if you want to gamble a little more money
    - Offers lower stakes gambling - can often find $5 blackjack running and empty seats at that

    Planet Hollywood:
    - Close proximity to the tram that runs from MGM all the way up until Harrah's now I believe
    - Great gambling, I've had a funny streak of $1 slots there where I won $100 on 3 different machines in about 15 minutes
    - Younger crowd, good nightclub - Gallery

    Cons:
I'll leave to the critics because I look for positives in Vegas!!! Haha but really, I think either property is fine. Look on a map and see the places you might want to visit and I would just go with that and whatever is cheapest.

Most I had to say has already been said.

One other aspect is under which property the casino falls.

MC is part of MLife and you don't have to go far before seeing posts about them and their offers.

PH is part of CET. We stay here for the first time and getting some really nice offers recently.

I dislike both properties to be honest. But they both have some pros and cons...

Monte Carlo is connected to CityCenter, which is pretty much it's only saving grace anymore. The rooms are old-ish.

PH the rooms are a little nicer, and they have the mall, and some good nightlife. But they have the worst parking and valet in town.

I don't like the casino at either property, nor the restaurant offerings at either place.

But I'd pick PH if given the option, just more going on there, and mind as well save the resort fee. To me, Monte Carlo is like the ugly step child of MGM.. like why are you here and what is your purpose!?

I loved MC when I stayed there which was the year that it opened. However, I don't like the changes MGM has made to the place. It used to be Bellagio lite and now it has an unfocused identity. Another issue is that it's difficult to walk north from it to center strip with the way City Center is designed and I find it extremely frustrating. I think I will have a major grudge against MGM forever for the way they have made it impossible to walk the strip.

As for PH, the nuts and bolts are attractive but if you aren't into the Hollywood hip thing, it's not going to work for you. I would say that it is a better property than MC, especially since all their rooms have been redone relatively recently while MGM has dragged its feet on refreshing MC. But at the end of the day, this is a situation where I start searching for option C.
