    My Trip Report

    Low rolling Oct. 31 - Nov. 6

Our last trip was May of this year, we wanted to go again this year, but our daughter was getting married in August, and that cut into the savings pretty good. So we didn’t think we would.
The day of the wedding rehearsal I had about half an hour to kill before we left, so I checked my e-mail and found the Southwest face book special. Two round trip non stop, with early boarding from Pittsburgh for $379 and change total. After paying $900 in May I jumped on them.

The flight out was a few days after Sandy hit the east coast, we were a little worried, but everything went great. I got about 3 hours sleep, then up at 1am for a shower and the 2+ hour drive to PIT in the rain. We got A-16 &17 boarding, and scored frt. row seats. Plenty of leg room, we had a smooth flight arriving a half hour early, about 8:30am I tried sleeping on the plane but couldn’t.

We always rent a car, prices were up and it was a lot of searching. But I finally found Dollar for $148 total. about a 10 minute wait and the normal attempt at up sell, and we were off in a purple Hyundai something or other. I had my choice of 5 but thought the purple would be easy to find in a parking lot.

We stopped and got a coffee and I called my neighbor, He was suppose to leave Vegas on Monday but because of Sandy couldn’t get a flight out till Thursday. We had planned to pick him and his son up at the Cal and head out to Silverton and Southpoint. But he was already at home and at work, He had caught an early flight on Tuesday to San Francisco, rented a car and went sight seeing all day then caught a red eye home. I would have stayed in Vegas till Thursday.

From there we headed to the Silverton, my wife is a big supporter of Linked by Pink a breast cancer organization, they had a special earn 500 pts. and receive a BC bracelet. I started on VP but couldn’t get anything but lots of small hits, So I tried a twenty in a WOF and cashed out almost $100 up, That put me up slightly even with the VP lose. I tried a few other slots but no real hits.

We then used a 2 for 1 buffet coupon I got from Buddha here on the board to eat, and with money that was on my card we ate for free. Afterwards I played BJ for awhile, fun but lost about $50 I think. We checked our points and were both over 500 for the day, so we hit the players club to get the bracelet and another for her mom. They were out, more were coming but had to be picked up in person, (maybe they should of taken the signs down) my wife was pissed. They gave us two free buffets and $15 each in free play so I was ok but my wife wanted to leave, and never come back. I got her to chill out, we ran the free play thru a few slots and headed out.

Our first three nights were at the D, I had received an offer for two free nights $25 in free play and $25 in match play, plus some food and drink discounts but I can’t remember what they were. Check in went fast, 27th floor facing east. Nice clean room comfortable bed, and the shower drained.

Now that the car was parked for the night I could drink, went down and played penny WOF with the free play and had a few beers. Cashed out $10 After that we strolled around Fremont and ended up at Four Queens playing VP and had a few more beers.

My wife wanted to go back to the room take a shower and change, it was Halloween night and the parade was at 7, I thought perfect I can get a quick nap then watch the parade. But that didn’t happen I watched TV got a shower, and we were back downstairs by 6:30 We stopped two stores east of the D and grabbed 2 for $2 Millers and went to watch the parade, the parade was late so after a couple more trips back for more beer we watched most of the parade. It was ok, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to see it again.

But then I had to piss so it was back to the D, I planted my ass at the upstairs bar and stayed there the rest of the night, drinking Beam and Cokes. It ended up being about a break even night, I hit quads twice on 10s and had a $185 dollar tito the next morning.

Some time after midnight my wife decides she wants to eat, after the buffet and all the booze I wasn’t hungry but she insisted. We tried the restaurant at the D but it was going to be a 30 minute wait, so we went downstairs to Coney island to try that, and there was about 40 people in line. So I made a drunken decision and we ate at the Irish place by the front door. McD or something like that. I hate to even admit that, but it seemed like the thing to do at the time. After being up for over 24 hour we crashed.

Thursday Nov. 1st, I woke up to my wife coming in the room with a couple McD’s coffees. After a shower we headed down to play. I wanted to play BJ with the match plays, the only tables open were CSM but I tried one anyway. Grabbed 3rd base and bought in with $50 and 3-$5 and 1-$10 match plays. I won every hand with the match plays, I couldn’t believe it. My wife stopped to get some cash, and I gave her 3 greens to cash out, figured that way I got my buy in back plus $25 Played for about 2.5 hours total and cashed out another $165 I have only played BJ for a few trips, and this was the best I have ever done, so I was very happy.

We then headed over to the Four Queens to eat, I had another coupon I got from Buddha for 2 for 1 at Magnolias. After I exchanged the coupon at the players club for the voucher, the guy told me to stop back later and get another one, because it was my birthday month, another win it was going to be a good day.
I had never tried the country fried steak with throw up gravy, and since it gets such hi ratings here, I tried it. If you ask for throw up gravy on the hash browns, they give you a bowl of it, and since I ordered biscuits not toast. I ended up with a huge breakfast I couldn’t finish. But it was good.

We were seated in a booth over looking the casino, I saw a silver strike machine over by the bar. After reading about it on here, I wanted to try it. So after breakfast I put a twenty in and we took turns, A few a pulls in I hit a silver strike. Then my wife hit something that put us at $30 We talked about what to do with the strike and neither of us really wanted it, so I cashed it out for $10 and my wife cashed out the tito. I should have at least got a pic of it.

Something we had never done in Vegas was a show, other then free ones. We would finally see two, so we needed to go get tickets.
Since we were out we stopped at Rick’s restoration. Free tour and very friendly, well worth the time.
Then it was off to the Luxor to pick up tickets for Carrot Top, my wife got these for free on the face book my Vegas game. We had reservations for Nov. 4 but they had made them for Oct. 4 After a phone call to her boss the girl said no problem, we will just have to give you front row seats! Score, another win it was a great day.

We then headed to IP to get Human Nature tickets, using another 2 for 1 coupon from Buddha. Parking is nuts here, I tried getting in from Kovel but there isn’t any signs, other then employee only. That’s the one to use, when we left I exited this way and used it again the night of the show.

After getting tickets we tried playing slots but the first machine ate my twenty, after waiting 10 minutes for a slot attendant. She gave it back to me and said, put it in another machine and get a tito and use that. So I did but the machine wouldn’t take the tito either, so I switched machines and it wouldn’t take it. The girl was still there and she looked at the tito and said O its blurry, take it to the cage and she walked away. So we cashed it and left, my wife didn’t like the smell of the place anyway.

We then hit Albertsons, picked up water and snacks and headed back downtown. We played a bit at the D then headed over to MSS for dinner, stopping at the Cal on the way, where my wife won something on penny slots. But I can’t remember, I know I lost.
We used a FSE 2-1 buffet coupon for dinner, then I played VP losing at first. Then I saw the old quarter drop VP and figured I would try $5 going .25 a spin and get a couple beers. The first spin I drew a full house, but one of the buttons wouldn’t work. While waiting for the slot tech to fix the machine, I played the one next to it, and had it over $20 and was playing max bet before the first machine was fixed. So I played both machines, lost the first and cashed out the second one for $54 My wife had came by and wanted to head back to Fremont, and I needed to use the bathroom. Otherwise I would have stayed on that machine.
It keep giving me 4 to a royal, but hitting a flush at least 3 times.

We caught one light show on the walk back, watched the band on 3rd st. stage. Then headed back upstairs at the D, again plopping my butt at the bar top VP for the night, drinking Beam and Cokes. One quad a straight flush, and lots of little wins let me play about 3 hours and cash out $276, with about $100 in.

Friday Nov. 2nd , After coffee and a shower it was down to play, 3rd base at the BJ table I won on the day before was open, so I grabbed it. Played for a few hours going up and down, finally left with $100, double my buy in. We played slots awhile then headed over to Four Queens for lunch, using my birthday 2-1 voucher. I had a club, and I think my wife went with breakfast again.
I wanted to go back and play BJ again, stupid move. I lost the $100 I left with earlier and another $50
I was pretty beat from the trip out and two nights of drinking, so we headed back to the room and got a nice long nap.

Another McDs coffee and we were off to The STRAT , to use another 2-1 coupon from Buddha and go to the top. I loved it my wife hated it, she’s afraid of heights and wouldn’t go near the edge. Even on the lower level with windows. But I thought it was great. We played slots for a little bit, I lost and my wife won, so we ended about even. They are fast within a week of the visit, we each got mailers offering $25 rooms week nights. Not sure we would ever stay there, but never say never.

After that it was off too In & Out, so my wife could get her burger fix. We both went animal style, her a single and a double for me, and split an animal fries and coke. Perfect late cheap dinner.
Then back downtown, We tried playing downstairs at the D, but it was just to loud. And never saw a waitress. So we went next door and grabbed a couple more $1 Miller high life’s, and walked down Fremont to the stage by the Golden Gate. My wife said she wasn’t in the mood for the crowd, so we walked back to Four Queens and played slots there without much success. So it was back to the Vue bar at the D and lost a couple hundred on VP, and drank a few to many Beam & Cokes. Before calling it a night.

Saturday Nov. 3rd This was moving day, by the time we had showers and coffee it was 9am. So we packed and headed down to play a bit, then went over to Fremont to use another FSE 2-1 buffet coupon. Turns out they were expired, hell MSS just took one. But they wouldn’t. No problem I had a 2-1 for Ellis island from Buddha, we would just check out and head over there.

I wanted a juice, and my wife wanted some chap stick, so we stopped at the players club of the D first, to see if we had any comp money on our cards. We both did, so we went upstairs and had a free breakfast.
We then checked out and headed to the Silverton for the last three nights.

This was our 3rd stay at the Silverton, my wife received an offer for two free nights some free play and match play, but I don’t remember how much it was. Check in was fast, but in all honesty the room at the D was nicer. Nothing really wrong with it, comfortable bed, clean, tub drained and it had a mini frig. The room was just worn out, maybe just partied in one to many times.

I spent some time playing VP at the bar and watching football, then some BJ where I lost my buy in fairly fast. I played a few slots before finally getting a nice hit on a quick hits machine. Silverton is running a special for November where 250 pts a day gets you a $10 food comp, and 500 gets you $20 1000 $40 I had checked earlier and knew I was close so I played till I was sure I had 500pts. And still cashed out $185 Still down for the day, but enough to keep me happy.

We took a short break in the room before heading to IP to see Human Nature, traffic wasn’t as bad as I expected for a Saturday. So we wandered around the casino a bit, and ended up playing .25 VP so we could get a few drinks. My wife who rarely plays VP was smoking, she hit some small stuff, then switched to max bet and hit quads then a straight flush. I couldn’t hit anything, but at least my wife got us back the cost of the show tickets plus some.

We both really liked the show, we got a table off to the side. But the other couple that sat there left after about 15 minutes, not sure why I’m pretty sure I showered that day. We were planning to hit Ellis Island after the show for dinner, but with $40 in food comps at the Silverton we ate there. The tables were packed, so I played slots and VP for a few hours then called it a night.

Sunday Nov. 4th We played VP in the morning and had coffee, and my wife hits another quad. I was losing, she cashed out, and went and played slots. I tried the machine she was playing, I lost more, so I went and played blackjack, lost there also. Went and walked around the Bass pro shop, didn’t lose anything there.

We used the buffet passes they gave us the first day for brunch, they had king crab, first win of the day.
I played a few slots without much success, so we hit the room for a nap.

Then we went to Luxor for carrot top, great show my wife even drank the shot of crown. I think she was afraid CT would heckle her if she didn’t. On the ride back to Silverton it hit me, we got free front row tickets and we never gambled a dime in Luxor. I kinda felt bad, but we were going to MGM the next day, so we would make it up to M-life then.

Back at the Silverton I finally found a bar top VP that paid, hit quad jacks and lots of small wins. I drank Crown & Seven for over two hours, and cashed out $80 or so, on only $20 in. We had dinner after midnight in their café, .99c black angus sliders and nachos, another drunken decision I may have regretted. We played a little more then hit the room.

Monday Nov. 5th This was the last full day of the trip, I played BJ and was doing great, the dealer changed and I lost three straight, so I walked up $60 I think.

I was watching a craps game, I’ve wanted to play for a while but didn’t really understand the game. There was only two guys playing, and one of the dealers started talking to me, and explaining the game. So I got in and the guy rolling was hot, I went up fast, the dealers changed pretty fast, and I didn’t really understand the new guys broken English. But I stayed with it, my first time rolling I did ok, hitting 3-4 numbers before crapping out. But the second time I rolled for about a half hour or so, I still didn’t get the odds betting, and was so nervous, I didn’t raise my odds or bet the way I should have. The next few shooters crapped out fast me included. After that the table emptied pretty fast, but I was still having fun so I rolled by myself for a while, mostly losing, still ended coloring up $160 and tipped the dealers $10 of that.

We then left for MGM, to play the Lions share. We parked at the Trop and walked across, they moved it since our last visit so we had a slot attendant show us where it was. We had planned to run $100 thru each, but after watching 4-5 people run a bunch of hundreds thru without much success we pulled back to $50 each. My wife went first, and played about 20-30 minutes. She had it over $250 and talked about cashing out, but decided to go for it. I never got above $100, and the fifty didn’t last 5 minutes.

We stopped at the Trop after that, without much success. We started heading back to the Silverton to eat, but my wife wanted In & Out, again, and we just had sliders last night! So of course we had In & Out. Happy wife, happy life….right.

I tried craps again but lost $50 pretty fast, so I stopped before it got worse. Played a couple hours of BJ that was up and down, left the table with $40 left from the mornings win. Played slots a bit, then since we each had $40 food comps we ate again, I had a strip steak and my wife had chicken parm, I think, we only used $40 in comp. Played mostly VP the rest of the night, mostly losing.

Tuesday Nov. 6th Last day of the trip, I generally bring about 50-60% of our bankroll in cash then, use a debit card at 7-11 (no charge at 7-11 with my bank) so it was off to 7-11 to get a little more cash. I wanted to start on craps, but only half the table was open, and it was packed. So I played some slots, then my wife and I put $40 in a mega millions machine, and took turns. We played for at least 30-40 minutes, it was over $300 at one point. But sadly no mega.

We then went to the room and packed, put our bags in the car, and checked out. It was about 11am so we decided to grab an early lunch, using the other comp. (we had enough points to get two more, before we left but no time to use them)

I ended up playing BJ till we left, it was up and down till one of the last few hands. I mostly bet $5 a hand, but towards the end I was up so I switched to $10. Drew 2-8s to a dealer five, so I split them. I think the first draw was a 10 then another 8 split that, drew another 10 then a 3, doubled down on that. Figured sure as hell the dealer was going to draw to 21, but she busted. I was stoked, played a few more hands and headed out.

We had a great flight home, on a new 737 that was only about half full, arriving about 10 minutes early in Pittsburgh. If anyone’s still here thanks for reading. One more thing the total cost of the trip, came out too $2478 and change, plus gas to Pittsburgh and back. Not bad for seven days of fun.

I planned on putting pics up for this, but I’ve been busy and barely had time to write it, so I will try later to add some. My wife’s mom, is why she’s a huge supporter of linked by pink, and after getting some bad news the other day, we decided to take her to Vegas for Christmas. I’m not sure who’s happier, my wife or her mom. So we will be back Dec. 19-24 for our 3rd trip of the year.

This trip was easy to remember, I started writing the day I got home. And with pics from a camera and two cell phones it all came back, except a few drunken nights. :drunk: Thanks for reading everyone.
