I'll be in Vegas for 5 nights on my upcoming trip. I like to see a show each night I'm in town. A little excessive maybe but it something I like to do to break things up and gives me something to look forward to doing each night.

So far I've booked tickets to see Zarkana and Zumanity. I was hoping to go catch a Wranglers game again like I did last year but they aren't in town the week that I'm there and I don't think there are any other sporting events going on during the week (Dec 16-21) except maybe Rebels basketball but I'm not a basketball fan. So that means I'm looking for three shows to fill in the other nights. I'm looking to see shows that I haven't already previously seen but if need be I wouldn't mind seeing Mystere or Absinthe again but as a last resort.

If I could get your opinions on the following ones that I'm considering. Also I'm open to suggestions.

O - This is the one I thought for sure I was going to be seeing as I was going to use my points from MyVegas but then found out the week I'm there is blacked out. I do really want to see it but I'm trying to justify paying the increased prices for it especially after I assumed this was going to be comped.

David Copperfield - I've been a fan since I was a kid and always looked forward to watching his TV specials. I think it would be great to see him in person. Majority of the reviews I've seen have been positive with the odd negative one saying that he looked like he was just going through the motions. Is it worth paying full rack rate for his show or would I be better off hitting Tix4Tonite knowing there's no gaurentee he'll even be offered.

Terry Fattor - I've never seen a single episode of America's Got Talent so I'm not 100% familiar with him. I have seen a few clips so I've got an idea of what his act it like. Is he worth seeing? Is his act just singing and impersonations or does he do stand up with the puppets?

Defending the Caveman - Not a show I see mentioned a lot. Seems to have some good reviews. As a single guy would I appreciate some of the humour? I know it's at the Improv at Harrah's, what's the seating like there? Tables and chairs?

Le Reve - How does it really compare to CDS? Should I wait till I've seen O before I see it?

Again I'm open to suggestions. A comedy club wouldn't be bad but I'm not into insult comics so Vinnie Favorito isn't really an option. How's Brad Garret's place?

Social Distortion is also in town playing at HOB. While I'm not a huge fan it would be something different.

One other thing I'm thinking of is heading downtown for an afternoon to do the Mob Museum. I was thinking I could stick around and hang out into the evening / night. For all the downtown experts are there any good entertainment options there?

    Thanks in advance!!

Just one man's opinion to be sure, but here goes:

Copperfield is worth seeing. Definitely the best magic show I've seen in Vegas.

Saw Terry Fator for the first time in early October and thought it was worthwhile. Yes, he does some stand-up with the puppets, in addition to the singing. Somewhat similar to Jeff Dunham, but without all the curse words.

Have not seen Caveman, but it seems like you're the target audience for that one.

Personally, I like Le Reve better than O ... or Mystere. Le Reve is definitely Cirque-like. But I'm not sure that seeing it during the same trip as Zarkana and Zumanity would be the best timing ... just an awful lot of people flying around overhead for one trip!

For a change of pace in your lineup, I would suggest Jersey Boys (presuming you haven't already seen it). I had to be dragged to the show my first time because I just didn't think a Broadway show would be in sync with my Vegas mindset. But this is such a great show that I've gone back to see it three more times ...

I agree with Imondun. I'm not a 'show guy' but I'm married to a 'show wife.' Went to Jersey Boys my last trip out and it was the best thing I've seen in a long, long time -- and I see a couple shows every time I'm in Vegas.

I've only seen terry fator from the shows listed.
In my opinion, he is a very talented performer well worth seeing.
Not only is he a great ventriliquist and puppeter, he is a really good singer.
Wether it's his voice or one of his.... er I mean his puppet friend's impressions.
Its great to see his show backed by a live band as well.
Terry really seems to enjoy entertaining and I felt welcome by him.
With no NHL yet, I'm sure you're jonesing for hockey.
Let terry and his friends help take your mind off it.

I thought about Jersey Boys. I was also thinking about Rock of Ages but after I saw the movie I'm not so sure any more and yes I know the musical is supposed to be much better.

As far as Criss Angel goes, I think I'd rather try and count the cracks in the sidewalk up and down the strip.

Out of everything I've seen in Vegas, I will only recommend Carrot Top, Jersey Boys, Blue Man Group and Donnie & Marie. Can't say i've seen anything else that I really enjoyed enough to recommend.

Copperfield was cool, but I don't remember it being super incredible or anything.

I'm planning a trip the end of October and have O, Love @ Mirage, and Le Reve on my list. I've heard wonderful things about Love.

Le Reve is worth seeing...I'd suggest a VIP seat up top.
...always enjoy Penn & Teller at RIO.

    Check www.lvol.com and www.searchlasvegasshows.com for
a concert/music. The Pearl/PALMS, The JOINT/Hard Rock, LVH has lots
of concerts also and are over looked many times for great entertainment.

One of my favorite things to do late Monday night...10:30, the PALMS
Lounge "SANTA FE AND THE FAT CITY HORNS, $10.

Of all the shows you're considering watching, I would recommend watching O. It's the best Cirque Du Soleil show we have in Vegas. I like it a lot better then Le Reve. I would also recommend watching Vegas! The show or V-The Ultimate Variety Show at the Planet Hollywood. Compared to a lot of the shows on the strip, the tickets are pretty cheap plus the shows were fun to watch.

The reason I prefer Le Reve over 'O' is...'O' bores me,
it's real 'dark' and there isn't enough variation in the
    routines.
That said, there isn't much variation in the scenes in
Le Reve either but...it holds my attention better for
some reason. Maybe it's the smaller showroom, or the
    pace...I don't know.
The water stage in 'O' is truely wonderful and the color
and textures they project on the stage floor and background
    scenes are great...
The Le Reve showroom, it's layout and color is warm and inviting.
That said, I've seen 'O' 4 times, Le Reve 4 times...hmmmm, clear as mud huh.

Thanks for the suggestions so far guys. I picked up a ticket to Terry Fator using the Travelzoo deal and ended up getting a seat in row one of the centre section. Still looking at adding two more.

Here's my line up for the week so far.

    Mon - Zarkana
    Tue - OPEN
    Wed - Terry Fator
    Thurs - O
    Fri - Zumanity

Looking to fill that Tuesday night. Leaning towards Copperfield but wondering if I should wait till I get there and go the Tix4Tonite route.

I would second Carrot Top, I wasn't thrilled about seeing him at first, but the show was hysterical! Next time out I plan to take the wife.

I actually just saw him in October. I agree with you as I was a little skeptical at first but everyone raves about him so I figured I'd give it a shot. Glad I did as his show is great.

Well, Penn & Teller are DARK Thursdays or I'd suggest them.
I really like their Show and would have been a good contrast to your others.
Surf thu those 2 websites I listed, you might see a 'casual' Show (usually music)
from someone who's in town for a few days.
SANTANA at the House of Blues in Mandalay Bay has a great Show!
    The Orleans showroom...www.orleanscasino.com
The Las Vegas Hotel showroom... www.thelvh.com
Frankie Morino's Show at the Stratosphere is good...have dinner at the Top Of The World
or the Italian joint to the right when you come down the escalator.
I say the 'new' BLUE MAN GROUP Show a couple weeks ago...it's fun.
    GORTORIUM...and a nice dinner out.

I would love to see Penn & Teller again but they are dark that entire week.

I think I'm going to leave the Tuesday open for now and maybe see what kind of mood I'm in that day. Thanks Greg for the suggestions!!
