I was for a time excited to return to LV in January and check out the new Lady Luck (Downtown Grand). Now it looks like I'll see a building minus the name spruced up with a new coat of paint.....and Empty! I thought with the El Cortez's new arrogance and the Plaza's new Resort Fee for its opulance it would have a fighting chance. It's smaller neighbor has returned and provides a decent place to stay that is clean and quiet, convenient, and quite affordable with a decent restaurant (Gold Spike). I thought with more floor space and rooms, the Lady would be the next jewel in the downtown revitalization. I'm sad for the Lady. Jimbo338
As of the 26th they had an advertisement out looking for a "senior financial analyst" In the add it states: Downtown Grand is scheduled to open in late 2013 and is planned to include 600 slot machines 35 table games and 650 employees.
Downtown, Fifth Street struck a deal to manage the Gold Spike and, when it opens late next year after a $100 million-plus renovation, the 650-room Downtown Grand, formerly known as the Lady Luck. Demolition and construction already are under way, with a ceremony celebrating the project planned for today. http://www.vegasinc.com/news/2012/nov/20/gaming-entrepreneur-builds-north-las-vegas-success/
Down town Grand sounds like a business hotel near Wall Street ,next will be the Downtown Center or the Trump Downtown.
Renovation finally underway? http://www.lvrj.com/business/redevelopment-work-begins-on-downtown-grand-180213431.html Maybe things will start moving now.
