LV monorail/tram

Is this a fairly good way to get around? Never used it. Do they run on time and is there a ton of walking from the stops to the casinos? Thanks

 

I've used it off and on over the years. They run frequently and they are reasonably quick.

Only major issues is that they are somewhat expensive and they only go to a few casinos. If there are three of you, it's usually cheaper to take a taxi.

Yes, there may be some walking involved, particularly at Bally's and MGM.

You will get a variety of answers on this topic from the members of the board. Really depends on what you are trying to accomplish.
For instance - if you are at Paris and want to get to MGM or LVH, then it's a great option. If you are at Paris, and want to get to circus circus, then it sucks.
To be honest, it is usually more walking than what it's worth. If you have 4 or more people in your group, forget it and take a cab.
It's not cheap, but the trains arrive relatively quick.
I use it from the LVH to the strip....it's perfect for that.

 

The trams at the mlife properties are decent. Free, and you may wait 5 minutes for one. There can be a fair bit of walking through properties, though.

The monorail is similar and covers way more ground, but is not free, and the costs often don't make much sense, especially if you are not alone (a cab costs the same for 4 as for 1, monorail would cost 4 times as much).

The biggest appeal of both is really air conditioning. If you are there in the middle of summer heat and looking to get up and down the strip, its nice to be able to have most of your walking be indoors.

When temps aren't that bad, I'll take the tram to MB and back, but the others and the monorail generally don't save much walking.

I used them when i was there for new years. bought a three day pass and it definitely came in handy we stayed at TI so it was easy for use to cross the street and then hop on the monorail and get to the other end of the strip quickly.
