I'm planning a trip to Vegas next month with my Fiance for his birthday. We might stay at IP but I'm not sure yet. When we check in it will be the actual day of his bday and if that is combined with the $20 sandwich do you think it will be likely we could get an upgrade at IP? Can you suggest other hotels on the strip that are more likely to be kind to this sort of thing?

    Thnx in advance!

Never hurts to ask but know what type of upgrade you want and ask for that

I would also stay elsewhere. If you are looking for less expensive hotel I say Harrah's which is next to IP (Quad) and not so much construction. I had a classic room booked at Harrah's and did the $20 trick and upgraded to a premium room over the pool with a partial strip view. Good luck and have fun

IP is definitely a mess right now so, for my dollar, I'd stay elsewhere if you can find something that works with your budget. As to the upgrade, depends on check in timing, check in agent, hotel, Total Rewards status, etc.

Google IP Luv Tub Room and Blacklight, and you will never stay at IP...lol

Flamingo might be a good hotel to get an inexpensive room with a good chance of upgrade. I hope you have a great trip

Last year I had random comped rooms, so I was switched hotels every 2-3 days. Imperial Palace was the last 2 nights.... I Checked in (even $20 tricked to the Luv Tub room.. guy said "oh I hooked you up and got you a honeymoon suite", it was just a Luv Tub room though).....
Got into the room..... turned back around and left - Checked back into the Flamingo and paid the last two nights.

That was before the mess/construction thats going on

I have stayed there. And I will never stay there again. And I am not picky hotel room wise, so that says something.

Yep... I would do either Harrahs or Flamingo.

By the way, there is a $20 thread sticky up top.

I would check out the Flamingo. All the rooms are recently remodled although your basic rooms are only 350 sq feet. Ive had the $20 sandwhich work for me several times.

In July I stayed in Paris for 5 nights and loved it. Its connected to Ballys so thats a big help. Their basic rooms are dated but have a really nice big shower(why I am impressed by that I do not know).
