Wireless access

Here is an off the wall question: Do Vegas hotels charge for wireless access for iPads or laptops in their hotel rooms? Thanks......

 

Hard Rock includes it in their resort fee of $20+, it also includes the gym, which I use too, so the fee doesn't bother me.

 

Most do charge a fee, either by resort fee or an independent fee. Some have free hot spots in certain areas. From what I was told this past week, they use an outside company that they pay.

The reason for the outside company was there are too many tech. support problems to take care of. I know that I had to use the tech. support to connect with my old laptop. .

 

Can tag onto Wi Fi at most McDonalds, Starbucks if I remember right, I was tagging on at the coffee shop in the Paris next to the elevators so as not to pay the daily fee, just to check emails and what not, If you need to browse something longer than that the resort fee covers most MGM hotels, CET you have added fee at their Hotels

 

Easiest way to put it is: you don't get it for free.

If the hotel charges a resort fee then it will most likely include internet access as part of the fee.

If the hotel doesn't charge a resort fee then they will charge you $14-15 per 24 hour period to access the internet in your room.

One important thing you have to check out is: whether you pay for the internet or it is included as part of a resort fee, at some hotels it is still only available as wired internet, not wireless.

For those cases where it is still wired what I do is pack along my old wireless router that is already set up for our phones and other wireless devices... plug that in when we get to the hotel and we are good to go.

 

Un-freaking-believable. I liked Vegas so much better when " the boys" ran the town. Things were simple and they understood customer service.

 

Most of "the boys" were gone before the internet arrived.

 

I tethered on my last trip so I saved on the fees....

 

MGM Grand includes WiFi in their resort fees and it was surprisingly fast.
Also last time i stayed at MGM i think people were using thier tablets and ipads at the sports book. I may be wrong but i think think my wifi on my phone found an unsecure wifi at the sports book.


The last time i stayed at excalibur, wired internet was included in the resort fee but if beleive Wifi was either an extra charge or not even an option.

 

Get a wifi tether thingamadoodle for your phone. That's the easiest and cheapest way to have wifi. We did that last time and it's great.

 

New here, so hello all! I was in Vegas last week, so hope this info may be of some use...

There's a free hotspot that works in Mandalay Bay in and around the buffet. Also one in the sports bar (next to the sportsbook) in NY-NY that works pretty good (wireless access included in the resort fee at that casino too)

 

Bellagio has wi-fi in the rooms included as part of the resort fee. There's also free wi-fi in the public spaces, which has a different SSID and a slightly different access screen. I used it outside Jean-Philippe and had no problem running a Citrix session.

 

I love the El Cortez downtown but they don't like people to stay for more than 7 days so my 8th day would cost me about $250. In addition, the wifi is not included but is available for $11.99/per day/

The lowly Gold Spike is quieter, just as convenient and wifi is included in the resort fee and while I hate resort fees, generally, my 8 nights at the GS is $253, and that includes tax and the resort fees for the 8 nights! Do the math! It pays to shop around!
