Any news on what's happening with the Sahara? I was curious as to whether they are going to implode it (sniff sniff) or reopen it.

If it reopens, it won't be the Sahara. But the odds on them pulling of the financing wasn't great to start with. I am kinda sure they are coming up on a deadline on securing the credit soon.

Actually, the financing is already in place. Sam Nazarian (Sp?) was able to secure all 300 Mil, I believe most of it came from EB-5 financing. So, if it is EB-5 , the project is moving forward or Sammy is going to jail. Its becoming SLS Las Vegas, think Cosmo, but with less down the strip. I don't see how it works over there, but best of luck to him.

Best of luck getting people to go that far down the Strip.

There are big plans for the corners of that intersection at Sahara Ave and LV Blvd. I'm surprised they're not making the news - probably because the developers are holding the cards close to the vest for now.

There will be a new "boutique" casino/hotel within a stone's throw of SLS as well as a new Wag's.

Didn't the former Mrs. Trump claim that a few years before the recession hit? Didn't happen then, ain't happening now.

Well, gee, don't I feel silly...

What hasn't made the papers, or these boards, is what's about to happen with that NE corner. Go take a look - notice anything different lately about it? An official announcement has not been made - yet.

The other project I mentioned is not being secretive, but you'd have to be attending or closely monitoring the planning commission to know specifics (as VegasChatter followers know). The project was permitted eight months ago and financing was nailed down last month.

Here's what's going on. The press continues to focus on the big story about Nazarian and SLS. What's getting missed is others are working parallel to Nazarian. They're not hiding, it's just no one seems to be paying much attention because Nazarian has the spotlight. People keep saying he's a fool to put SLS there in that location when there's nothing around it. Well, see, that's just it - other projects will be there along with SLS. Nazarian is no fool.

I was told some time ago (years) that Ivana let her options expire on that property.

I did notice when i was in vegas a few months back and we took a ride on the monorail up to the sahara station that alot of windows in the back tower facing the monorail were open and could see people inside some of the rooms, maybe starting to tear up some of the rooms to remodel?

I really thought that Wynn and Encore would spruce up that end of the strip. I guess the delay/cancellation of Echelon didn't help matters though. Hopefully Boyd will get something going at the old Stardust site. I'd hate to se Sahara go the way of so many other strip icons but I think it is inevitable.

The problem is that no one walks past the Wynn & Encore. I have no desire to walk past two beautiful properties with the best-looking cocktail waitresses in town, only to end up at Circus-Circus or Stratosphere .

Why not? People do go all the way to Fremont as well, and to Trop&Luxor.

Would you walk past a Ferrari to sit in a Yugo?

    Agreed.

I stayed at Sahara in 2003 I think.. my 2nd time in Vegas, was old and dingy but hey its a huge part of Vegas history! My room had a pretty view but was so high up that Id get "heady" when going out on the balcony :faint:

I agree. Just got back from Vegas and the furthest North i would go is Fashion Show Mall to eat, then proceed across the street to Wynn then head south. To me, Las Vegas is WYNN all the way south yo Mandalay Bay.

FNBN (Aspen, LLC) owns it. This is the new FNBN formed in 2010.
