I am planning a poker trip for myself for June 20th-July 2nd 2013
I was looking and for the 12 nights Hooters is only $279 taxes in
Should this set off alarm bells? Is there anyway to find out if there is major construction planned?

does that price include the resort fee they charge per nite?

check the terms and I`ll bet they charge you around ten bucks per night extra for the fee.

ya its like 10 bucks a night for that ontop but that is still mad cheap(2 weekends in there)
most hotels are $1000-$2000 for the 12 nights

    have you visited vegas before?

two thousand bucks for 12 nights?:eek2

you should be able to get a lot nicer room than hooters for way under a grand unless the prices are that inflated due to the poker event.

Not sure I personally would be rushing to pay that kind of cheddar to stay at a financially-ravaged property in a bad location. Nothing is guaranteeing Hooters will even be open by that time. Like the previous poster said, you can certainly do better with the lower level CET properties I would think.

Am I missing something? I think op is saying hooters is like $400 all in which is almost nothing compare to the 1k+ that other hotels are quoting him. If so, he wants to know if that's suspicious?
I haven't stayed there though so I can't say. I doubt it as its not a nice property...

Not sure if you're booking direct or through a third party internet broker or something. Honestly, it depends on what you're looking for.

I will be the first to rip on Hooters for being a dump and I've got many complaints about the place, but the rooms are clean and satisfactory. No, they're not huge or luxurious or anything. If you're happy staying at a Travelodge or Super 8, then you'll be happy at Hooters.

The location is at the Strip, so you've got ready access to all the real action, and it is really right next door to the Tropicana too, so you can just walk next door if you want to mosey downstairs for some late night gaming. And MGM is right across the street. You've also got Excal, NYNY, etc.

If you've got a wife or a girlfriend or something with you, just . . . don't. But if you're just looking for a bed to crash in when needed, it's all good.

    I didn't finish answering the question . . .

If you're worried about the legitimacy of the offer, I would evaluate it based on the offeror. If it's some site you've never heard of then you should be cautious regardless of the price.

Worried based solely on the price . . . ehhh, it's dirt cheap, but so is the hotel. I'm sure there are such extended packages at that price available. In fact, you will sometimes even see such $25 night rates flashed on billboards.

I agree with Pinny on this one. Its definately a beat up property but its not worse than a travelodge. I haven't stayed there but a friend of mine has and she prettymuch compared the cleanliness of the room to a pay by the hour motel (she may have been exagerating it a bit and this was about 3 years ago-- so they may have spruced it up since then). I usually stay at one of the Mlife properties in the area and we stop in Hooters every trip and have a blast(cheap beers, cheap food that is edible, and low table mins). Since you are going in the summer, They do have a small pool and people always seem to be having a good time there (so that is a plus).

As for construction. I dont know about any major construction but when i was there in august they ripped out their main bar by the front enterance and were replacing it. I dont know if that means there will also be any other construction in the future.

Just another note. I know you are going to play poker. The Hooters website says they have a poker room. What they dont tell you is that their "poker room" consists of a corner near the players club booth that has 2 poker tables and there usually isnt anyone sitting at them. Don't expect to walk down to the casino and play poker anytime. You are definately going to have to hit one of the surrounding properties if you wanna just hop on a table.

Check the cancellation policy carefully. Some of the better deals are being offered with no refund if cancelled.

Pinny Long is exactly correct. I've never slept at Hooters, but I had a room there on a double booking two trips ago. The bathroom was kind of gross (think old and cracked fixtures, not mold or anything), but everything else was fine.

As mentioned, there is no poker there. But you're an easy walk to MGM which will meet all your poker needs.

The price isn't suspicious. They pretty much give me my rooms offers even though I don't gamble much there.

The risk of them going out of business is over-blown. And if they do, you can always rebook something else -- it's not like vegas is going to sell out in the summer.

No I will be hitting up 3 wsop events at the Rio and playing all my cash games there but even with there poker rate its like 90 per night witch is like 1200
I was just thinkin since I will only be sleeping like 6 hours per night in the room and be at the rio the rest no point in paying too much for a room

I can book it with free cancel through hotels.com I would just have to cancel it at least 48 hours before then I will have tons of time to make up my mind and not have to be worried about that 50% off sale going away

If you're a single guy who needs a bed and a shower, Hooters has that.

    I do NOT recommend Hooters

I also don't say NOT to stay there. It is your choice. $400 for 12 nights is cheap and you get what you pay for. You are on the the south end of the strip so that is a plus. A stone's throw from the MGM.

But I have played poker there four years ago?

    More current from their website

    Link to their site

The Hooters Poker Room is a 2 table rooms located directly adjacent to the self parking garage elevators and the Hooters Players Club desk. It has moved to the area in front of its original location.

The Hooters Poker Room is open from 2:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Promos: Aces Cracked Daily from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and 2:00 AM to 6:00 AM Royal Flush bonus whenever room is open.

There are no daily tournaments, but Sit-N-Go's are available on request.

A player review from August 2012

I am sure you have read that Hooters is trying to sell the place. This used to be the old San Remo and it was a Howard Johnson's or something like that before that. I only knew it as the San Remo.

I would never waste my time playing there
I will play at the Rio,Venetian and belagio only
I figure I will get a monorail pass to shoot across the strip and just take the free shuttle from any harrahs property.

I stayed at Hooters this past year for first time and was pleasantly surprised with room. However, we stayed in main tower, not those motel-type rooms alongside casino.
It was peaceful, uncrowded and a nice respite from hectic pace of Strip. Friendly employees, homey casino atmosphere, etc.
Only major drawback was resort fees.

I was at Hooters a week ago and saw no signs of any construction being started or planned (no area was staked out or marked). Granted I didn't go on an investigation searching for evidence of construction.

I would say that since you are only using Hooters to sleep and shower that you should save the $800 that you would spend at Rio and put it through the Lion's Share at MGM (if its still there)

I stayed there a couple of years ago and thought the room was ok, better than a super 8 near the Ellis.
