I am looking forward to my first trip to Vegas. Dec. 20-23. I am not the biggest gambler but I will throw down about 1k+ night at the tables for fun. I am concerned about the free drinks. I really only drink good scotch and good beer. Can I get a good IPA on the Draft? Will good whisky be available? Bud just won't cut it and I don't do mixers. I Paying extra or the full amount is ok by me. Just so long as to get something drinkable.
Beer can be hit or miss. You will rarely get drafts at the tables on the strip unless you're playing in the high limit room. My guess is that's because of the spillage potential. But different places have different beers available at different times. I've been comped Sierra Nevada in bottles before -- not quite an IPA, but close. Downtown, MSS has drafts for gamblers in a lot of places. And of course anywhere you play at a bartop VP you can get it. As far as liquor...depends on your definition of good. I don't drink cheap liquor either. At the slots it's often hard, but at the tables you can usually get makers mark if you drink bourbon, and at least some basic single malt if you drink scotch (think Glenlivet.) Tipping your cocktail waitress well will go a long way toward getting you better liquor, in my experience. And if you're tipping at the table, your pit boss can certainly upgrade your liquor by a level or so if he wants. If you tell me which games you play, I'll tell you how I've approached the situation and with what results. Also, it depends on the property and the level of the game, when it comes to your success rate. But I do a good job of getting drinks I like.
I like a nice relaxing game of roulette. I know the odds are not great but I enjoy watching the ball spin around. I will be staying at MGM but will ay anywhere.
And that's the one place I can't help you...I've never played the game but play everything else. Sorry.
Hi, Fifty-Six. Another beer connoisseur here! Playing the regular floor tables/ machines on the strip the best you're gonna do is Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, or Newcastle. I usually just ask for Sam because it's what they are most likely to have apart from Bud, Coors, etc. If you want to relax at a nice casual bar with REAL beer and have a car, I highly recommend you give ACES AND ALES a shot. They're really laid back and friendly and have an excellent selection of both bottles and taps. Your gaming will be restricted to bartop VP or BJ, but really that's just something to amuse yourself while sippin' on some good brew. They also have really good food. http://www.acesandales.com/
MGM will serve you Stella Artois in the main part of the casino. They've also served me JW blue & gold out of the floor after I gave the cw a red chip and asked her which JWs she could serve me. Her answer was "whichever one that I wanted" ...
