Landry Select question

I'll be at the Golden Nugget in early December. I have a Landry card. Can you use credit on the card at any of the Nugget restaurants? If not, where in Vegas can the credit be used? Has the Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurant opened on the strip and can you use the credit there?

 

I have used credit at the Chart House and Grotto.

 

I'll be at the Nugget on in a week or so and I've also booked with my Landry's Select card. I'll report back on what I learn. I don't think I have any unused rewards on my card though but I'll see if I can find out where they can be used. I was wondering this myself.

Anybody with any Golden Nugget or Landry's Select info, experiences or tips I'd be interested to hear them.

FYI, I was bummed that I couldn't take advantage of the rates I got emailed from GN because according to the rules you can't use the Landry's Card benefits with discounted rates (even those directly from GN). I've heard reports of people being able to do both (i.e. book special GN rates and still use VIP checking, room upgrade etc.) but I hadn't heard enough confirmed accounts to make it worth risking. The difference was only $10/night. The room upgrade alone is worth that. Of course if they don't give me the room upgrade (since it’s "based on availability") I'm going to raise holy hell!

 

I have used "points" on my Landry's card on several occassions. Gotta love those birthday points. However, my last trip, the computer connections were down between the Chart House & Landry's and I never got credit for my meal, but they took my word at the total amount of points that I wanted to use (dinner was more than my total points)

I have not attempted to upgrade, but I have a good friend that gets upgraded almost every trip. They always book direct with GN, even using GN specials.

Sign-up $25 there.
month old August birthday points not there.

Used my Landry's card and credit card to pay bill.

Waitress returned credit card(unused) saying birthday points are usually good (still in account) a month or two after birthday month.

She happily earned a larger than average tip.

 

Also

Chart House has more seating than visible from entrance.

Sat by the back of the aquarium (table was 6 inches away).

Enjoyed excellent lobster bisque and clam chowder while watching the fishies.

Yes, almost all the GN restaurants will let you use your Landry's card points. You can also use them at the RainForest Cafe inside MGM Grand.

We have stayed at the GN three times while using the Landrys card for upgrades. The first two times, I booked package deals via Delta Vacations (the airfare and rooms were less expensive than the airfare alone on the exact same flights). The first one was 4 weeknights in August 2010. We were upgraded all 4 nights from a Carson room to a Rush tower room. Trip 2 was for a three night weekend in January 2011. They had no rooms to upgrade to the first night, but then upgraded us the last two nights from a Carson room to a Rush room. Our most recent stay at the GN was for two nights in July 2012. It was an e-mail offer from the GN for $39/night room, 2 free concert tickets, and the coupon book with the $10 match play. At check in, the Landrys card got us a free upgrade to a large Gold tower.

 

Locations in Las Vegas (and surrounding). I think Grotto at Golden Nugget gives you about the best value for points, unless you build them on an expense account and have a ton. If you are just spending the membership bonus or birthday points, it's just really a discount at Chart House/Vic & Anthony's. I have also used the birthday credit at Red Sushi and think it is reasonably priced. Note, Grotto has the wood fired oven right at the bar and it is open late with pretty good food:

VIP Check In

Just got back from five nights at the GN. I am a Landry's member and tried to use VIP check in upon arrival. VIP desk told me that I had to go to the front desk to check in because I didn't make my reservation through the Landry's phone number. I made it directly at the GN web site. As others may already know, the rates are generally higher through Landry's than they are directly with the GN, and you are not guaranteed an upgrade. You may end up paying more than you'd otherwise have had to. Regardless, in our case it was fine. There was no line at the front desk. We were booked in the Carson Tower, asked for a non-smoking king room on the quiet side, and were given a top-floor (22nd) south-facing room with a nice strip view. Long way from the elevator, but a nice room.

 

We're you able to use VIP check-in?

We used the VIP check-in once on our first stay. VIP check-in was closed the other two times due to us arriving @ midnight each time.
