This is gonna sound funny, but I looked at user-uploaded photos of the standard rooms at Paris (might not be able to upgrade to Red Room) and the decor is absolutely HORRIBLE! I cant begin to explain just how ass-ugly they are. The cheap furniture in the old Flamingo rooms was better. Ew. That was a total turn off.

I'd rather stay at a non-themed hotel with non-themed room decor. Paris' rooms reminded me of an old weird hermit woman's house. I halfway expect to see plastic on the couch. Just gaudy.

    Thoughts?

You don't like them so choose another hotel. They never bothered me as I don't have company over or hang out in the room anymore then to sleep and shower.

PH's is more modern looking. But the rooms are of similar age and wear I would say.

I liked the decor better at PH compared to the basic room at Paris and it's bigger. There is a chance you could get upgraded to a Red Room @ Paris, though. Those are much nicer.

I guess I didn't spell out the dilemma. I was looking at staying at Paris because it's a CET property, for the location, price, and relative ease of parking. Everything was pointing to it until I saw the rooms...

Last time i was in a basic Paris room, they still have a tube tv a few years ago.
PH does have a flat screen even though it is a crappy one. Bathrooms in a PH is nicer and bigger.

Can't help you with your apparent aversion to the decor, but no way an old Flamingo room was better than a base Paris room in any respect.

A tube tv in a room just shows their age. Bellagio finally figured that out and started renovating their rooms

    iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiif:beer:

I know some put a lot more into a room and some put alot more into a bathroom and then I hope a few like be just want it to be clean and a place to get a good night sleep. For me it's get up, shower and I'm out of the room. Maybe back up for a nap, another shower and that's it until it's time for bed. We all roll different I guess. On a side not, the place we stay at when we go to Maui still has tube tv and old ones with bad cable snow. Furniture isn't up to date. OTOH it's 1200-1500 cheaper for 10 days then the next cheapest hotel, The Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa at Kaanapali Beach. Nice hotel but if you go to Kaanapali Beach to stay in your room then readjust your vacations imo.

Clean and a place to get a good night sleep.

Grandma indeed. Maybe I have a huge aversion to that renaissance type decor.

Yeah I upgraded to a Eiffel View Calais Suite last time I went just for kicks since it was my first time staying there. It was a nice room in general, but I was taken aback at how everything was sooooo old-fashioned looking. The furniture seemed worn, the tube tv (although mechanically recessing was kinda cool); everything did shout grandma. For the younger crowd it definitely didn't feel right compared to say, an ultramodern suite at the Vdara, which I love. The his and hers bathrooms and great view definitely helped along with that old-timey hotel romantic aura, but overall meh. I can't imagine a regular room sans redeeming qualities.

So your comparing an older Paris non suite room with a new hotels suite? Are the prices even comparable? Maybe I'm misreading.

I've stayed at both Paris and PH

Here's my 2 cents for whatever it's worth:

We have stayed at PH many many times. I guess it's the Hollywood Hip room. I do like the window seat with the little larger window. If you can get the North tower and odd # room that should give you a nice view of the strip and hopefully a great fountain view. They always tell me there is no way of knowing which rooms have the window seat. PH have large bathrooms with a deep soaking tub and plenty of hot water. A separate walk in shower, a big enough single sink vanity and water closet. We love the casino and do not mind the loud music and party vibe. And the selection of penny games is to our liking also. You have the mall and most important the ABC store right there. Great buffet. We are late 50's early 60's age wise.

Last May we stayed at Paris for the first time. We had the standard (I guess) gold decor room. I actually liked the room better than the PH room except for the view. The bathroom is fine and very functional with a separate tub and walk in shower. Nice vanity. Not as deep a tub but not too small either. We also had a single cup coffee maker with coffee pods provided. Paris room had an empty fridge to use also. Yes a bit dated but clean and not worn in my opinion. Although the tube TV I was surprised they still had. We like the atmosphere throughout the property. But the game choices in the casino are limited to our liking. Loved seeing the Jersey Boys and the location of that theater.

Hope that helps on any decision. I think either place would be just fine.

Ah didn't mean to make any comparisons per se, was just trying to emphasize the rustic feel at the Paris. I'm not sure how much regular rooms there cost, but Vdara can be had for as low as 80+resort fee. I suppose I was late-night rambling more than anything, I was just trying to express the distinctive older feel of the Paris.

Never stayed in a Blue room at Paris, but I have stayed at PH and Paris in a red room.

First, the pictures of the Blue rooms at Paris definitely are not inviting. If you do decide to stay at Paris, do what you have to do to get a red room. The red rooms are a very nice room.

The PH rooms are ok, but very worn. I actually picked PH the time I stayed there because I figured if they had flat screen TV's it must mean that the rooms are upgraded. I was wrong. First, the flat screens are old Plasma TV's that heat up and dont have great reception. The beds are comfortable with the Sheraton Sweet Sleep Mattresses leftover from when Sheraton managed PH before CET. I had some maintenance issues with the shower draining and the safe not working. The good news is they fixed them right away. The bad news is they fix things quick since it sounded like they go around fixing these same issues alot, and hence are very good at the fixes....
