First trip report! March 2012...

Please Note: This is an extremely belated trip report, but I'm not concerned because better late than never, right?? Plus I figure it will be a good way to remember the trips. These are my first reports (planning to post a january and february trip too) so if they stink please forgive me!

I decided to head out to Vegas to use the last vacation days I was "allowed" to use for some time... Had to fit them into Q1 or else I wouldn't have time to spare at work for months! So I booked a flight, and decided once again to go solo (I invited a couple friends but its tough for most people I know to spontaneously take off work)

Day 1: Got up for work, headed in via car so that i could bolt right to the airport, and before I knew it 16 hours later at 1:30am Central time I was landing in Vegas! I had just been to Vegas in January solo, and February with my SO, so I was going to use this as a way to unwind, watch sports(planned to, anyways), and hit some more casinos for my chip collection.

Once I landed the line for the monorail was a mob scene. I missed a tram as only one of the two monorails was working from the American terminal



First order of business was picking up my Rental Car, and hitting the Wal-Mart on South Eastern Ave. I was able to score a Ford Explorer with only 1054 miles on it which would prove to be a very nice vehicle. I snagged water, a foam cooler, snacks, and energy drinks since I was planning to do alot of driving at night.



I checked in at the LV Hilton, with a 4 night comp as usual (This would prove to be the last comp ride I have been offered from them -- But I got a sweet ride along the way with about 20 nights comped since I made a run on the HL Bacc table [or did it make a run on me....]) and was in my room in no time -- ready to go! I phoned in my going green request(I do this every night at the Hilton... you get a $10 gift certificate for asking housekeeping not to come, and it works anywhere on the property), then I decided to hit the Bacc table in the HL room, and use my promo chips before bed. I had an early morning planned and the table played right into that fact, busting me for about $300+my promo within 30 minutes.



Day 2: The Trip Day. I'm trying to visit every casino in the state of Nevada that has table games, so today would be a drive up north to Ely, then west to Tonopah the south to Beatty visiting the couple casinos along that route. I also love driving and nature and nothingness so this was a great drive for me, personally. I left Vegas around 9am, headed up out of the valley then past Hiko, all the way up to the snowy roads near Ely. I visited Hotel Nevada, played some slots and got some slot tokens and chips and relaxed for an hour or so -- then used the first pay phone i've touched in about 10 years. It was quite fun.... I felt like i'd stepped back in time given the town, pay phone, no chain tores/restaurants of any sort, etc. Soon I was headed West, did some 0-60 and 0-100 tests on my Ford Explorer (not bad for a 4cyl) and stopped to use a very creepy restroom at a "rest stop". I may like nothingness, but I dont like
walking into a small outhouse with no-one and nothing visible except a van with tinted windows parked ALL the way in the corner of the parking lot, idling. I was in and out of there quick, even kicking the door open to give my imaginary assailant a bit of a spook! Luckily, he wasn't home. Through Tonopah, and Beatty there wasn't much of literary note. It was getting dark as I passed through the Stagecoach casino area and filled up the tank. Quite a booming town with an
addition/remodel happening at the gas station and the casino being quite lively. They had a craps table but "no craps dealers lived in Beatty anymore" so i did not stick around long. Heading south into Vegas I passed an overturned and burning truck of some sort, complete with fire crews and a 30 minute wait for poor CenterfieldNine. I arrived back home around 1am and hit the sack. On my drive I had managed to miss every moneyline bet i'd made on March madness, and
they were all close games. It made for very entertaining listening though on XM. Called in Going Green and headed to bed.






Day 3: This was going to be a low key day. After a free Brunch at LV Hilton, I placed my Elite Eight bets at the LV Hilton and headed to El Cortez to play 25c roulette, then walked around downtown in a bit of a haze. I checked in on craps at Binions, Fitz's Alphabet roulette, and the gimmicks/quality of Plaza but they were all quite similar to what I recalled from my February trip. I then headed to Joker's Wild out on Boulder and played craps for what must have been 6 hours and managed to win about $300. It's one of the first wins I've had at Joker's Wild, and the first large one since it IS a $1 table after all. I had one too many Jack and Coors pairings, so ducked into Eastside Cannery
on the way back to the Hilton and played some PGP and hit a number on roulette -- I had all green except 2 nickels, and put them both on my birthday randomly and it came up. I wish I could say I love it when that happens, except all the times i've done that it's never actually worked! This was a nice treat.



Day 4: Chip Collecting Day. A bit of play at the following:

In the morning I had brunch and cashed in all my Going Green certificates, then placed a few more sports bets. After the casino run it was late and I headed to bed

Day 5: I used another free buffet certificate, checked-out, I wanted to try to hit Lion's Share on this trip, since i'd not stepped foot on strip this entire trip... I stopped in at MGM and got a very exceptional run out of $300. It lasted about two hours, peaking around $360 and working back up near $300 from $60. I saw many lions, but only one on the line at a time. I also got several double-double-double bar wins for $60. With my flight time looming, and my sad feeling about giving back 300 of my finest dollars I decided to go out with a bang. $100 on the $25 Single-0 roulette wheel. I placed all 5 of the required $5 chips straight-up, a corner, a street, a double street, and a split off of my birthday. First spin,
and bang my birthday came up again! I jolted up to around $350, then every number around my birthday kept hitting until I was around $550. I decided to take one stab or walk away with a purple -- especially since my flight time was only 2.5 hours away. I missed, colored up, and ran to the car/rental return/airport and was soon on my way home. After I had written off the $400 and turned it into a $100 profit, i opted to upgrade to first for an extra bit of cash (under $200) since it was a dinner flight and I felt like splurging. I had no fancy meals or activities this trip, so I was overall quite happy about spending a bit for something indulgent.




I landed back home, and got ready for work the next day... It was a dinner flight, and I didnt get home till 1am which I never like (but it gives me extra time on the day of my flight home to do something aside from get up and leave for the airport).

I ended up putting about 800 miles on the rental, which they did not bat an eyelash about -- which I was happy about since they are so darn expensive IMHO. Only $200 but still, their lot is always empty so they are making a ton on these cars with them always being out.

 

I'm mobile, so ill try to log on and fix the spacing at some point...

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it... I enjoy the "locals" casinos alot, my chip collecting drew me to all them but i'd return to most of them! All quite unique and have a niche.
