this is possibly going to be a very difficult question to answer, and will get various different replies.
just which hotel on the strip do we choose ????
apart from the top notchers like Bellagio, Venetian .
we`ve looked at so many from Caesars to Tropicana and are really totally lost.
we wont the best room for the money, a casino with plently of low value gambling, with some good restaurants.
we wish to stay for 9 days are there deals for a stay of this length
It`s such a wide question we know that .we just don`t which one to go for, coming from the UK it`s something we are not possibly going to repeat so we want to get it right .
    Thanks
    Darren.

I would keep my search to the 4 star properties.

    My choices would be:

    Mandalay Bay
    MGM
    Paris
    Caesars

All have good restaurants, large casinos..

If you want to go a slightly lower tier maybe Luxor. That is definitely going to be less money, and I would guess lower gambling minimums.

Honestly any of the 4 star properties should work fine, and I think you will be happy. I would just go with whatever is the best deal. Also remember to factor in a $25 resort fee at at most of properties minus the Caesars ones. That is an additional $225 for 9 nights.

Maybe do 2 or 3 different resorts, for 9 nights you certainly can. Do something south strip like Mandalay Bay or MGM, then something north strip like Mirage or Treasure Island.

Also can I just say, 9 nights seems far to long to be in Vegas, but maybe that's just me.

What's the min/max you want to spend on the room? Does location matter - center strip, north or south end?

I can't see how anyone can argue that The Mirage deserves serious consideration.

If you are in your 20's, MGM Grand is a good choice.

Hey, welcome to the board! Can I first off just say 9 days will be WAY too short dont worry about it, it will absolutely fly by! We dont do any less than 10 nights as you say coming from the UK it really makes a difference.
We got married last Sept in Vegas, I can honestly say it was the greatest day of my life in the greatest city in the world! No matter where you stay as long as you stick to the strip and dont go WAY low end ie Circus Circus etc youll be fine, our first stay was at PH and that plce still holds a soft spot for us, the best overall hotel we have stayed in is prob a toss up between Wynn and Aria, again it really boils downt to personal preference, if yous are all in your 20's looking to party, gamble, drink etc PH would be ideal I recon, centre strip, loads of cheap eateries around, great nightlife, decent rooms and a pretty soft poker room if any of yous are interested in that.
Have a great time, im sure yous will

Nine days is a long time. You may consider renting a car, Dollar is an inexpensive company. Try the Lock Low N' Go option. Pick out a small SUV.

As for a hotel, you will not get low value gambling tables in a hotel that is reccomended for a long stay. (I consider low gambling gambling to be $5 table games.) That being said, you may consider a suite with a refrigerator. The Cosmopolitan has condo-type rooms right on the Strip.

I like the idea of spending time at both ends of the Strip, splitting up the trip. Maybe MGM Grand and Mirage. Or to manage room cost, the Rio for a couple of days while you do your side trips. They have big rooms with fridges.

If you want a nice ceremony for getting married, go with one of the luxury places for a few days.

My biggest advice is to talk to people you know who have gone, and get their impressions. A fluid conversation is the best way to tailor the trip to you and your fiancee.

    Congratulations on your marraige!

When are you going? I would stay away from mid-strip with all the construction going on.

    Re:

That would be the big question "when are you going?" and would your wedding be at the start or end of your trip?

I also agree with Terry about splitting up your visit. Maybe stay at a cheaper hotel the first 5 nights and finish up the vacation at a more expensive site for the last 4 nights.

What is a decent price range for you?

Based on what you've said so far, I'd recommend MGM Grand. Nice rooms, some good food, lots of pools. You can find some $5 BJ at slow times, or you could just walk across the street to NYNY where there is always $5 BJ or to the Excalibur where you'll find lower limits on everything.

And there's the monorail station connected to it so you can easily make it to the other end of the strip to see what's going on down there.

As to the original question, it does get asked here and people attempt to answer every week or so. If you scroll down a few weeks, you will see some other answers. The best answer is difficult for others to answer. Things like budget, dates, show plans, eating plans, gambling plans all have an impact. If there is a wedding, where is it? Are there large conventions at your hotel of choice?

Regarding mid strip - I would tend to suggest that, especially for first timers. Also, for 9 nights, consider two hotels to get a different feel. And rental car - you only need it for a few days.

What time of year are you planning to go?

You mention chilling out by the pool ... is there a particular pool experience you are looking for, or will any rectangle with chairs to lounge on do?

To me, the best value rooms on the strip for most nights as usually Harrah's and Bally's. They are low rate and no resort fee (resort fee for nine days would be a real killer), and still a solid (though unspectacular) room. But they both have pretty boring pools if you are going during pool season and that is important to you.

As for dining, they don't have that many built in options, but with their location, are close to a bunch of options.

Rather early to get too serious about which hotel. As you get into late winter or spring and hotels start posting rates, and airlines get rates up... you can better pick dates. Keep in mind that you can see rates at a hotel like Paris go from $70 to $300 a night all tied to events and dates.

Staying at a hotel when the monorail comes into use might be a good idea.
The pool weather days are going fast

Paris, Bally's, PH are close enough to call it one big casino.

MGM, trop, MB, Luxor and NY NY are all close enough for walking to each other.{with the help of the free tram.

Something no one has mentioned here already is that Priceline has some pretty awesome deals if you are okay with a little suspense. I've never used this site for Vegas (usually comp'd), but i do use it once in a while for other destinations, and they have pretty amazing prices.
What you lose in not knowing your exact hotel before committing, you make up in very good prices. For example Aria is showing up for 75-80/night, and Palazzo for 115-140/night.

Here is a website that can tell you about how it all works, and what current people are successful getting bids at:
    http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showforum=115&
Here is the hotel list for all hotels (for their star ratings to use on the Priceline site):
    http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showtopic=85&

If you are okay with spending a couple more bucks on drinks/meals then you can choose 5* North Strip as your choices will be either Wynn or Venetian or Palazzo. The best rooms (base level) on the strip (other than Aria), and really nice pools (though i'm not much of a pool guy myself).

If you choose 5* South Strip, your choices are Aria, Cosmopolitan, Vdara. Much closer to cheaper gambling options (though not by that much). Aria and Cosmo have nice pool areas as they are newer. All for around $80-120/night. Lower bids (75-100) usually go to Vdara it seems though.

Many people will suggest that you should stay where you like to gamble. Normally, i would agree. however, for first timers and without much of a chance of returning, would anyone seriously consider staying at the Mirage, or NYNY, PH, Trop, if they can pay the same money for Wynn/Venetian/Aria/Cosmo? I'm pretty sure they have $15 BJ tables (?) and the only lower ones on the strip are maybe $10 anyhow. Plus roaming around to the various hotels is the best part of the trip for newbies. Hands down for me, the comfort of having a nice room for a 9 day stay trumps most other factors for me. NYNY/PH/MGM/etc. rooms are barely liveable anyhow.

If you are considering staying at a mid-tier hotel, then recent bids have shown PH and Paris going for $40-$80/night.

Anyhow, just a suggestion. And like others have mentioned, it would be a great idea to switch hotels mid-trip. It does change the feel of the trip if you are at either ends of the strip.

I'm heading to Encore next month (married at the Wynn 1 year ago), so i'm getting all excited for the sounds, smells and service... and a good 'ol game of baccarat!

    Good luck and safe travels!

Hi, We have traveled to Vegas from the UK and stayed for 14 nights (still felt too short) as it takes you a day or two to get settled to the different time zone. We stayed in the Bellagio as it was our honeymoon.

We are about to go for our second trips (didn't think we would get to go back). We are staying at New York New York. We booked with British Airways as they included the resort fee in the price. Was an amazing deal. It means we have flights and hotels booked with same company but not expensive travel agent price.

In my honest opinion I don't think the hotel is the most important part of chosing what to do. As long as its not too far out the way. NYNY has walk ay to MGM and anther to Excalibur. Its south end of the strip but at a good location, MGM straight across the road and it has monorail. I like the fact that NYNY isn't a massive walk to lifts for room. Most hotel seems like a big walk to lift (Bellagio took ages too get to lift from entrances). Plus you don't want to be spending much time in your room in vegas, to much to do and see. You can go in and out of any of the hotels and gambles/eat/shop. So not missing much except pools and rooms.

We seen a few Cirque shows, would recommend 'o' at Bellagio that was amazing and the best. Love at the Mirage is good - all things British. Some of the Cirque shows you can get discounted tickets at Tix for tonight http://www.tix4tonight.com/
Definetly save you some money on ticket ('O' cirque never available though). We bought the discounted diner voucher from tix4tonight a few night and had a great meals so def worth a look.

We booked flight to Grand Canyon with Sundanc, amazing day and service. Done a hoover dam/lake mead bus tour. was a great day and seen loads of surrounding area. Would recommend both!

BA definitely worth a look. I have heard MGM/Luxor both good to stay and both good deal with BA. Resort fee being paid is great as some hotels upto $25 a day

Hope this helps. Massive place and big decision as not exactly a short trip from Uk
