I get out to LV about twice a year. I am just looking for opinions on whether or not the Las Vegas Advisor is worth the annual fee, which seems to be priced fairly, is worth it for me. I come to LV for about a week each time I visit and usually stay mid strip. Thanks for your advice and with your experiences with the LVA.

If you go downtown or off strip it is a great deal.

The LVA has good info and tips monthly at a fair price but with the coupon book thrown in it more than pays for itself with as little as 2 -3 coupons, 1 if you use the Palms at full value. We usually stay 10 to 16 days and always rent a car so we tend to go off strip to visit other establishments every other day or two. As previously stated a good portion would be off strip.

I agree. Most people report getting the cost back using a few coupons on The Strip. It feels like the bulk of them are at off-strip locations but if you have a car, that isn't a problem.

There is a list somewhere of all the coupons. It should be fairly easy to scan the list and see which ones you might use on your trips.

In the last 4 years (2009-20012), I've made an average of 3.5 trips per year (for an average of 19 days per year in Las Vegas). I buy 2 ACG's and 1 LVA/MRB each year (average cost: $64 per year).

I also do some trading of coupons so I'll have extras of those I love to use. My wife has gone with me on three trips so she was able to use some of the 2-4-1 coupons as well as those which are now tracked and limited to one coupon per person per year.

My average pay back has been $650 per year.

So, for me, both the ACG and MRB are well worth buying and using.

Used to be for me but not anymore

Above is the list of coupons. There used to be more matchplays & freeplays. Take a look & ask yourself--are these places I will go anyway? I have found over the last several years that more & more we go & I think we will use them but it become more of a hassle than it is worth. BUT we stay on the strip, and typically venture little from it.

If you are staying offstrip with a car/downtown/more than a few nights you might find value.

Even American Casino Guide isn't worth it much anymore, even at 1/3 the price of the LVA.

PLUS quite a number of these coupons are available free online or in the magazines in the casinos--further decreasing the value.

LVA does have a forum, but it isn't very busy--here & trip advisor are much busier--AND FREE:nworthy:

2 coupons and it paid for itself. There's also the convenience of not having to go scrounging for those coupons.

If you are going to, or are thinking of, eating at the Paris and PH buffets, those two coupons will cover the cost of the LVA book and any other coupon use is gravy.

I am wondering if the Palms $50 coupon will be back and, if so, what places it will be accepted. Anyone notice that Simon is now listed on Restaurant.com? Makes me wonder if they might be added to the places you can use it...

This is all very good news...

I have always been a big fan of Anthony Curtis and I really like the LVA site. You guys have convinced me to get a membership. Thanks again.

I am new to this board, but have been a member of LVA for about 4 years.
We always use at least, the Mirage 2-4-1 and a few for breakfast.
We go once a year and find that even if we are off strip, a shuttle or car will let us use a lot of the coupons.
Two sections I always use on their boards are transportation and buffets.
People on those boards have a lot of info to share.
Also my husband loves to get the monthly newsletter, he really is not into the computer age.

Sorry, I mis typed. I should have said that I get both the ACG and the LVA and if I use 2 coupons it pays for both.

I'm waiting to see if it goes on sale before my December trip...the membership but really the coupon book, I mean. It seems to go to half price or better as the year end nears. I haven't been a member in over 6 yrs but may need to get the book for a few select coupons...but only if its a clearance deal. :)

Same here. It seems they have been inconsistent of the end of the year membership deal but I would be interested in trying LVA if they offer it.

I used to buy both. For a while it was a good way to see new places off the Strip and many of the 2 for 1 offers allowed 50% off for one. I dont rent a car so getting to some of the places can be challenging, and most 50% off coupons are gone and I've found it more difficult to use them. I also make one trip a year usually so for me it was kind of " six of one, and half a dozen of the other". Things always change so I always read over the lists. It all depends on which coupons you use and if you will really use them. It can be a big savings, an break even thing or a bad deal. IT just depends on what you like, how long you stay, if you are a couple or solo and how many trips you make as well as personal preferences. It's like lots of stuff in LV....lots of variables and you pick what works for you.

I have 2 lightly used books left from the LVA that I have listed in the coupon swap section on this board and most of 3 ACG books left also.

I will accept cash but prefer SWA drink coupon books. Hit me up with any questions.
