I just recently joined TR, played 3 hours of craps at a CET casino (I only used my card one day), and now I have offers to stay for free at all their Vegas casinos except Caesars for up to 11 days including certain weekends, plus $25 in food credit. [The "offers" are actually for 2-3 nights, but in the TR website's reservation rates calendar it appears I can stay many more days for free.] I also was awarded about $1.60 worth of Rewards Credits, which is in the vicinity of 10% of the theoretical loss of the craps bets I made. [I estimated my theoretical loss to be around $16 based on the approximate number of $10 Pass bets I made. Since I was usually also taking maximum odds, I could have easily won or lost $1000.]

I assume CET's generosity toward me is related to my being a new customer who lives within driving distance, and I do plan on returning soon and staying/playing/spending only at CET casinos! When I accept their comped room offer, I intend to give them action which will increase my expected daily loss (or ADT) from $16 to probably the $50 to $100 range (depending on whether I'm winning or losing, and how much time/money I decide to spend in their restaurants and shows). This means I will be mostly betting green chips (or at craps, I'll make multiple $10 Pass/Come (or darkside) bets with odds so I usually have over $100 in bets on the table). I have read that this level of betting may receive more rewards from lower tier CET properties. Therefore, I was wondering what to do if I am staying in a comped room at Paris. Should I give them most of my action or would it be better (in terms of my future comps/offers) to play mostly at Bally's or Harrah's? If I charge stuff to my room, would I have a much better chance of getting the charges comped at checkout if I played mostly at Paris rather than another CET casino?

    Congrats on the comp

I wouldn't feel you have to play at Paris specifically for your CET comps. But I would not casino hop too much in the same day (pick one for the day and go with it).

Where you play probably won't matter for getting comp charges taken off the room, because they'll probably take rewards credits off only.

CET is great for marketing promotions (the offers and calendar comps you got) for very low play. They are less good for comping stuff you bought anyway because of the play you gave them.

Also, play a little with some sample bookings from the calendar, because even if you have more than 5 days of comp showing in a row, sometimes it will only let you book 5 in a row for free.

The rate calendar will show the places you could get comp rooms but that does not mean you will get more than nites free. This year whenever I checked the calendar.....every nite was "comp" at every hotel for 8 months. But, when I went to "reservations" - usually only 5 was free. (I am Diamond level) We stayed at Paris on a comp for 5 nites in Aug and since my fav slots were remove, I didn't play there as heavily as normal....did play heavily at other CET casinos. Now I'm trying to get rooms for March and Paris is no longer a comp. Gues then didn't think I gave them enough play as in previous trips. Oh well, we'll just stay at Bally's next trip.

I personally think it is better to play where you want to stay in the future. I can get rooms anywhere, but I have recently started getting offers with $550 in free play - but they ONLY come from the Flamingo - which is where I"ve stayed the last 2 times.

Thanks for the tips. I didn't really want to stay more than 5 days in a row anyway...at least not as long as I still have a real job. :rolleyes2:

If I get a credit line and make big buy-ins, do you think they would be more generous (e.g., comping stuff I charged to the room) than would otherwise be warranted based on my action?

Generally speaking, your buy-in is irrelevant to comps unless you're betting it. Front money -- some people think it helps, and it might help a little. But if you don't use it to play, you're not going to get comps.

You had it right the first time -- it's your theo that matters.

I want to stay where they give me $550 in free play!

Do you think you would have received an offer with $550 in free play if you had stayed and played at PH or Paris the last 2 times instead of a lower tier property?

I don't think the credit line or buy in amount would have any impact on comps at checkout.

I think so. My point was really that play anywhere gets you rooms, but that things like free play might only be available at the places where you played a lot at.

I do not doubt this, although I have read and heard otherwise (regarding comps in general, not necessarily Total Rewards). It does not seem unreasonable for a casino to gamble that the player who requests a marker to buy-in for $1000 is potentially more valuable than the guy who puts two $20 bills, two $10's and a fiver on the table. ;)

Why would they guess that when they have a record of your play? They don't have to guess.

Keep in mind, CET properties do not count odds bets towards your bet rating. So $10 pass line with full odds of $50 behind, is rated as a $10 wager. Same for Come bets. For places that do rate odds (Venetian comes to mind), they typically make the theoretical house edge so low that its similar to being rated without odds. The higher the odds, the lower the total house edge on the entire wager, but the higher the variance.

Although I never bet more than $10 at a time on the Pass or Don''t Pass line (and I made no other bets except taking/laying odds), my recorded average bet size was several times more than $10. Therefore, it seems my odds bets were at least acknowledged and recorded.

Do you think I would have received the same comp offers if I had only risked $10 at a time on the Pass Line without taking odds?
