Well, we were suppose to be in Vegas last week on the 18th, but I ended up catching a bad cold on the 17th and canceled our trip:(

I did reschedual for Nov 1-4. We will be staying at TheHotel for the second time. When I called Mandalay to cancel my trip, the lady was very nice and said it wouldn't be an issue. So she asked if I would like to book another date and I said "of course!". So she happily did this and threw in a $300 coupon book, free breakfast for 3 days and free access to the foundation room for 3 nights!!!!

I have never been to this foundation room, nor have I ever heard of it. We have been to Mix on top of TheHotel and we are also frequent diners of the Mix resteraunt. So what is this foundation room?????? She said mostly VIPs go there, really?

it's a lounge/club like a lot of other ones on the strip. not sure "mostly VIPs" go there, but it does have really nice views of the entire strip. certainly worth checking out with with free access.

Looks like your going to SEMA. I will be there as well. I have a few friends that are vendors there.

So, is it hard to get up to this foundation room if you don't have access given to you? Is there a cover charge for people who just want to go?

I wouldn't say it is hard to get into House of Blues Foundation Room. It all depends on the night and the event. On a random Friday or Saturday night when they have a DJ (not a special performance or special event), then just hang around in MB casino and the guys may hand you a pass. Foundation Room does have a dress code, so be sure you check that before you try to get in.

On the other hand, if it is a special holiday night (think NYE or July 4th), or there is a special performance/special event, it can be tough for anyone who isn't a member to obtain entry, because those nights/events are often presold ahead of time to Foundation members.

    As for VIPs:

There are some members who are in the music industry, and there are plenty who are like me (I'm just a female engineer who enjoys music).

The Foundation Room doesn't allow paparazzi and has several private entrances, so musicians and celebs enjoy spending time there - where they know they won't be hassled.

    Cheers!

The Foundation Room isn't exclusive anymore like it used to be. Now you just pay a cover and they let you in. If you have a NOIR card they let you in free and you dont have to wait in line. They do have a dress code but last time I went up there I showed my card, was walked right in and they told me I didn't have to take off my baseball cap.

Its definitely worth it to go up there and have a few drinks.

what's the vibe in that place? i know earlier it's more of a lounge and later it's more of a club? we just want to find a chill place to hang out and have a few drinks. that's getting harder and harder to find in Vegas as everything is moving towards the clubbing money machine. is the Foundation Room something like the Fontana bar at the B used to be?

Yes, early in the evening. They sometimes have an acoustic guitarist and always have a balcony and a chill vibe. It is a small space, though, and somewhat private, not for people watching like Fontana was.

I asked the guy if they had a happy hour or anything like that and he gave me a fairly snooty reply with a tone that implied I had made a major faux pas. And at that moment, I lost my desire to visit the Foundation Room. It was the only negative moment I had at MB.

Seemed like a normal question for a tourist to ask but hey, whatever.

Went to Foundation Room Superbowl weekend 2012. No problem getting in. They had a person in the casino giving out 2 for 1 drink coupons. Nice.:licklips: Atmosphere is very relaxing. The room has a nice size bar. Lights are nice and low. Lots of couches and soft chairs. Lots of dark wooden walls. I believe there was a fire place. Outside patio is small. Maybe 5 tables and some heat lamps, but a GREAT view of the strip. I was there from 5pm to 7pm(pre-dinner drinks). I think those will be the ideal hours to go. Not too crowded.

I got there at 10 and the DJ was there. The music wasn't super loud, the balcony was quieter. You can have a conversation on the balcony without having to talk too loud.

It is a pretty relaxed place, might be just what you're looking for.

My Wife and I went to the foundation room in April for dinner. All we had to do was call the concierge and they had no issue making a reservation for us. At the door they handed us 2for1 drink coupons and we were able to stay up there for as long as we wanted. Views were amazing and the dinner was top notch. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
