Anybody catch the show last night on NGC about the drug trade. Every week they will be showcasing a different city, last night it was Vegas.

They said Vegas was split up between over 300 gangs of different sizes. the biggest being the Mexican Drug cartel.

I am not blind, but I did not think it was the big.

Makes you really want to stick close to vest when you are vacation.

    I saw it, interesting stuff.

i have a hard time beleiving that casinos turn a blind eye to it though. They are simply too liable to put up with that sort of stuff.

Is it believeable that someone at a board meeting with Steve Wynn is suggesting they turn a blind eye to rampant drug use among their casino patrons? Its not like tghey said it happens that way but implied that all casinos are aware of it and do nothing to stop or prevent it.

    I found difficulty with that.

I watched a bit of it on a flight last evening. Certainly interesting.
I too had no idea of the cartel/gang influences off on the strip.
However, it makes sense. There is certainly rampant drug use in vegas.
I wonder when vegas will start to decriminalize some drugs like other states. Next thing you know, you start getting mail offers like "Complimentary two nights in a suite and eight ball of cocaine."

I haven't seen that episode yet, but I do find that they like to exaggerate on most shows/ documentaries on NG and History. Love those channels anyway

I found a torrent of this episode. Will download it when I have time.

Cops everywhere overstate the gang problems so they can get drug/gang funding from the government.

Some bored kid in the neighborhood was vandalizing everything with a can of spray paint, so the cops used that as evidence that we have gang problems.

300 different gangs? That seems a stretch, or am I reading it wrong. What do they consider a gang?

I believe legally a gang is any assembly of 3 or more people :/

When I first got my host, I asked him if he could now get me hookers and drugs (jokingly). He responded by saying that he couldn't get them for me, but he could suggest I talk to the gentleman with the black polo on at the bar.

The guy in the black polo came through.

Exactly!! I called a buddy of mine who lives in Vegas after the show and asked him about some of what the had on the show and he responded like this.
Gangs: Yes, 300 hell no but they are seeing more signs of some of the Mexicans gangs moving in with Meth.
Casinos turning a blind eye: all depends on what you call turning a blind eye, in the room no worries, in the club most likely on the floor hell no.

There was a hell of a lot of hyperboly in the show plain and simple but when it comes to drug shows they always exagerate the problem, all in the name of mo money for the LEO agencies.

I thought the show was to the extreme. I am planning on retiring to Vegas, but all I can picture is the cartel holding senior citizens at gunpoint forcing them to establish grow houses with their spare bedrooms. Just kidding.....
Anyway not a lot of chatter in the "living in sin" forum, relocation activity to Vegas must be down.

DPin, thanks for the link. It works. Just watched it. I wonder how much of it was exaggerated, but i'm sure it's mostly true. With all the money going through vegas coming in from all over the world, I'm sure a lot of it gets to the dealers.

Doesn't matter what city it is in this country, the drug trade is everywhere.

I watched it too. Good doc. I´m guessing most of it is true, except maybe the 300 gangs bit.

The guys making the crack had a shit load of cocaine! :nworthy: Here in Holland if you get caught with some coke (up to a couple or so grams) you can say it´s for personal use. Don't think you'll get in trouble for that. If you get caught with the mountain they had, you'll definitely have to come up with something better!

Can anyone tell me if the prices they mentioned are correct? 8 ball $300 to $350. I found these prices on the web
    NEVADA
    Las Vegas $40 - $80
    Reno $50 - $75, $220 - $275 "8 ball"
    (source)
How much do they ask for xtc? They mdma they found in the safe weren't pills but capsules. Are capsule more common than pills?

All just out of curiosity of course :)

X, you're looking at 15-30 depending on the dealer and quality.
Lately, capsules have been more common.

There a lot of pills out there with shit in it. Always use someone you know.
