Yes, I'm a smoker and that's probably one of the reasons I love casinos - I can smoke and drink and gamble without any hassle. I'm heading to LV tomorrow to see an old friend from the East Coast. I have a comped room at the Fremont for Friday; near as I can remember, they don't have any WiFi - is this correct?

My friend isn't coming in to town until Saturday night and at that time, we'll be checking into her timeshare which does have WiFi but no smoking.

Is there a place around downtown where I could hang out with WiFi and smoke in peace? I don't mind paying a few bucks to have access during the afternoon on Saturday. I've got some work I need to get done (yeah, I know, it's Vegas - you're supposed to forget about your real life!) and I figured that a few hours of WiFi on Saturday afternoon would get me caught up while waiting for her to arrive.

Thanks for any help on this!!

Fremont does have WiFi available at $9.99 per 24hrs

What I would be thinking is: If you have the room at Fremont comped for Friday night why not ask them to either give you a late (6pm or later) check out or see if they will just comp you one extra night - and then you can just use the WiFi in the room and work all afternoon Saturday.

Otherwise the problem you will find is: the places that have WiFi (free or paid) are probably all going to be non smoking (internet cafes, restaurants, coffee shops, etc)

someone mentioned free wifi at the Stratosphere on another thread last week? (or so) somewhere around the sportsbook? Just search for free wifi on this site, and look for the thread title Stratosphere NFL headquarters. It's about 12 or 15 threads form the top. They didn't mention anything about smoking though. They said they were in a dining room ballroom setting and of course mentioned all the tv's on the wall, lol.

Evidently, Wi-Fi at the Fremont is pretty new, but is now listed on their website. I had occasion to call the other day, and was told that it only took 12 years to get, but is working well. We almost switched to Sam's Town, as Ms. Gecko needs Internet access on our last day, so I sure hope it works. Either that or we'll be hoofing it to MSS at 3 am. (She has an overseas conference call.)

Thanks for the leads... and that's a good idea about the late checkout, though probably hard to get on a Saturday!

Smoking and wifi...our 2 biggest concerns for a room. I won't stay in a nonsmoking hotel (leaves out all the condos in Vegas)...hubby has to have internet (he "works" 24 hours a day, even on vacation). MSS has been on my list for a few years but last I knew, no internet in the rooms. I feel your pain.

Find someone that looks like a geek. Ask him to turn on the 4g wifi hotspot on his phone for you. Smile nicely and blink your eyes. Guarantee he will have one and let you borrow some wifi lol
