My good friend has created a fun way to see almost every casino on the strip, while enjoying some gaming and a libation at each stop along the way; he calls it "The Neon Gauntlet" On Monday, October 22 at high noon, the quest begins.

The jist of the contest is this.

    30 Casinos
Must gamble $10 at each location
    - Play it down to 0 or up to $20
-Must cash out after reaching $20 threshold
    Must consume one alcoholic drink.

We will start at Bill's (Basecamp) and work our way north to the end of the strip, cross Las Vegas Blvd, and begin back down until we hit the south end. Cross the street again and head back towards Bill's.

I think it is going to be a great way for me to see all the new casinos that have been built since I was last there in 1997. Tommy Rocker and Prince Ama are going to be escorting the Gauntletiers!

Sounds like fun, at least until you reach your alcohol tolerance! :drunk:

sounds like fun, someone posted a trip report towards the end of the summer where they play Casino Golf...or something like that and they pool the $ in and split it between the winners...

I pretty much did the same thing last time I was in town. The only thing I didn't do was the drink at each place. Just went in put in $20 played, if I got up above $30 I cashed out, collected a $1 chip from the cage then left. The video roulette machines were my favorite. It didn't take no where near as long as I thought it would either.

Better make it very light drinks. 30 drinks? by the time you get to 10 or 12 you will be less and less willing to walk (I assume you are walking)

Over the years I have done versions of casino "Golf" and it has been a blast.

    My advice:

Stick to the plan loosely.....if someone hits something over $20 on a machine/table don't immediately leave, give it a few minutes. You might get a little streak. I would not stay and grind on a machine, but a few hits after winning would not hurt. We have won some $$$ by relaxing this rule.

We have always started out with the intention of drinking 1 drink at every casino, but had to slow down in order to last through the marathon.

We have added an eating component to the game as well. Grab something quick and cheap along the way. $1 hot dog etc... no sit down restuarants!!!

Have fun, this is a great idea to see all the changes and have a good time as well.

Except for the walks from Encore to Strat and The STRAT to CC it sound like a lot of fun.

For that reason and it will still be daylight is why we are hitting that area early in the run.

And yes one drink per casino, in one day:beer:

A few years ago my buddy and I did 41 casinos in 4 days. I wanted to get a chip from each. It was a lot of driving and walking but a lot of fun!
I can't wait to read your trip report!

Sounds like a BLAST! Now I'm trying to think up some plans to modify this for myself and a non drinking friend. Maybe I drink and he eats? The gambling won't be a problem! :poker:

I wanted to get a chip from each one too my last trip...I did 40 casinos in 3 days before a conference I was attending started. It was rather intense, and my feet were not too happy with me after all that walking! I somehow turned into the navigation expert on that strip that week whenever we went out with people from the conference after that.
