California Eats

The Califonia Casino has an offer that includes $20 in dining per day. I'll be staying downtown (by myself) for two nights and was wondering if their food is worth the offer. If not, I was planning on staying elsewhere at a (slightly) cheaper rate.

 

It depends what you order, where you order it, and your expectations. Between their high-end Redwood Grill (where I have yet to go, but gets good grades), Pasta Pirate (that I like a lot), Market Street Café (never been disappointed), Aloha Specialties (never tried), and a snack bar, I don't see how you can go wrong!

 

Cant go wrong with their dining options. TOP NOTCH value play.

 

I'm 99.99% sure that $20 dining credit can be used at Main Street Station too. They have a great (in my opinion) buffet and the 777 Brewpub has tasty food too (not to mention palette pleasing libations).

 

The Redwood Grille is a classy, old-school steakhouse. They have a off-menu special of a full course dinner including dessert with an 18 0z. porterhouse steak for $24.

 

If it can be used at the Main Street as well, then this is a no-brainer. I love the 777 pub and have heard great things about the buffet. These were two places I was planning on going to anyways.

Double check before eating at Aloha Specialties. I love eating there (especially Ahi Poke) but I don't think they're owned by the California.

What do you do to get the $20 credit? Is it for staying there? I looked online at their website and did not see a thing about any offer regarding food. Maybe I just missed but I need details.

 

Yes. It was a 72 hour sale. For $72 you got two nights, $20 food credit per day and $10 slot play.

They have these sales semi-regularly.

I am seeing $29 rooms with a $10 freeplay after points are earned but no food on that deal.
Let us know if you are able to use the food credit at MSS and also let us know if you must use the $20 all at once or if you just charge to your room and then settle at the end. $50 kickback means the rooms are about $11 each night. I'd like that deal.
One tip if you want to eat at the Market Street Cafe which I like. They attract long lines, but you can walk right up to the worker who is seating the next person in line and quietly ask to eat at the bar and generally there is a seat there and they just let you take it. Same food. More entertainment in watching wait people and better service because the server passes you many times. And jumping the line is just a great benefit.

 

I was alerted to the deal via e-mail, but it posted on their website as well. I know this is at least the second time in the past three months that it has been offered.

I'm going in mid-December and I'll try to remember to post the details afterwards.

 

Thanks. The best deals do come in December. But I'm sure we'd like to see any deals. I'll keep checking the special offer section and my own B Connected offers that also had that $29 deal, not as good as yours. When it gets up to about $30 a night, I usually go for the Gold Spike at that price often as I get the wifi, a heated pool, and Turner Classic Movies on the TV as well as good access to the Boulder buses and in general no crowds.
But I liked the California rooms.

 

Indeed. I was close to booking Four Queens for $23 a night, then that offer showed up. When people said the food options were decent enough, I jumped on the California offer.

I actually called the fremont awhile back when we were considering that offer and I was told you can use the
$20 per day credit at all 3 boyd properties,mss,fremont and the cal.

I was told that it is use it or lose it though so you have to use the $20 every day or it expires.
