Got in touch with a host over there who is very nice. She has given me some really good offers to try them out.

Anyone have any experiences with them? Are they generous with the comps? Do they have Bac? Whats the atmosphere like? Is the food good? What are the best suites?

 

I took them up on a good offer last year after not setting foot in the place in 10 years. The hotel is fine, actually better than expected. I had a junior suite with 2 bathrooms and it clearly showed its common roots with the Mirage.

The casino is dark, depressing, smoky, and decidedly downscale. The atmosphere is sullen, like Harrahs Reno or something. Nobody seems to be having any fun. There are no fine dining options at the property. Room service was terrible in terms of food quality. I believe there is one mini bac table. I did like the HL room and had some luck at blackjack but there are almost no other players in there. Location is good, very easy walk to Wynn and Palazzo.

I did wind up playing more than I anticipated but at checkout when we discussed the comp critia I felt I may as well have stayed at the Bellagio given the level of play they were looking for. I would not return, but if your expectations are aligned correctly it might be worthwhile taking them up on a strong offer.

Is it a younger or older crowd? How's the pool?

 

I can't speak to the hotel and resort areas, but I generally found the casino crowd to trend younger (early 20s, for the most part).

I've also had by far the most horrendous luck there playing craps, for what it's worth. The place ate me alive three visits in a row before I finally swore off going back.

 

The crowd is mixed in terms of age but skewing toward the younger side. Pool is kind of average, not terrible but smallish and very little shade. Blasting loud music at the pool, at least when I was there.

I haven't been back to TI for a while but last I went, the casino was quite dead and lifeless. It has bac, both outside and in the HL room. There were a solid mix of people staying there (as opposed to gambling there). Lots of families. Not much in the way of nicely dressed people (fancy evening wear types). Also not much in the way of club-style partiers on the casino floor.

I don't know if things have changed, but comps are pretty easy to come by in TI. The problem is that since they are no longer part of MGM, TI's comps are valued a whole lot less because you can't eat elsewhere. I notice that they've changed up their restaurants quite a bit, but nothing in the way of upscale dining. I ate at Phil's last time I went. It was a okay. Nothing special by Vegas standards but I used the dining credit they gave me so I can't complain. The buffet doesn't have much in the way of seafood offerings but it's meats are decent for a mid-priced buffet. Again, the main problem for me is that dining options are too limited. What are you going to do? Eat at Phil's every night? Order expensive alcohol at the bar? They can give you hundreds in F&B and you'll have to think about how you can maximize your spending.

 

I tried to be objective--but Goosey nailed it. There is no good place to eat at TI. Phil's is a third tier steak house at best. Yes, there is a new bar, señor frogs, which is completely empty. The casino has no action whatsoever, I was definitely the highest limit player they had when I was there.

TI did wind up comping f&b but the problem is there is nothing really expensive or even worthwhile under their roof. They told me they are looking for $150-200 /hand for 4 hours per day at BJ just for room comp, which is absurd for them, that is exactly what they say at Bellagio. I know where I would rather stay.

 

T.I. Not so bad

On the flip side, I like playing there and find them generous. I'm going next month on a room comp, food and shopping promotion. It's not the Bellagio but I feel like my play is valued here.

 

Anyone have an idea of how they value VP play? I'm going to give them some strong 50 cent/dollar play and see if I can get established there. I'm thinking $6K to $8K coin in per day if my luck holds.

 

I rather stay at the Bellagio as well, but I wouldn't get caught up with the numbers a host told you. Fact is TI didn't fail to comp those F&B. I remember calling around when I was researching comps a few years back and I think Mandalay Bay, Bellagio, and Mirage were looking for the same level of play for a room comp. :confused2:

With that said, I've found TI to be very lenient in terms of hours played, but that might have changed. One time, I had booked a stay for six nights and left after three because I was losing. The host there was slightly confused. She looked at her screen and said she will take care of all of those nights no problem. 6 nights comp based on 3 nights play. I was having bad luck so I know I didn't average 4 hours a day (I probably averaged 2) and I wasn't betting $200+ a hand. I was playing craps at that level but probably spend more time playing $50 BJ.

 

It may not have been generosity...

Sometimes Casino's will make exceptions to anything if you have a significant loss.

I find it troublesome that some are equating TI's play expectations with Bellagio.

 

But how many times have you heard something negative about TI's comp scheme? All I'm saying is that I found TI's comps easy to come by when I last stayed there. If TI did take my losses into account that's a good thing right? I wouldn't want to run into some bad luck and not being comped close to my usual levels because I ended up being short on hours.

 

TI and Comps

My wife had a decent offer based on our level of play after our first trip. We actually liked TI as a base of operations but just didn't do well in the casino. That dropped the offers substantially but we followed up with another three day trip w/o free play (the first one has $150 or so offered).

I did finally have a good craps session and was in the black for the trip but the casino just didn't "hold" us--we found ourselves wanting to play somewhere else. My wife played slots there a decent amount and I averaged $40 or so for 7 hours over three days.

We've not heard from them since, which is not all that surprising. They told me they were looking for $100 or more for 4 hours a day. We were no where close..
