    My Trip Report

Sitting at las getting ready to head home. This was an epic gambling trip for me. It was win win win for three days. I have not seen a trip like this for years. I will be posting it in its entirety when I get home. For a little preview I hit a total of three royals. Pic of first.

Okay looking over my notes this may be a long one, so I'll try to be concise and break this up into a couple of posts.

This was a quick 3 day trip to Vegas. I was on the west coast for a convention, so a jewelery bribe to the wife and a quick check on the TR website had me booked for a 3 day night stay and $100 FP offer at PHo.

Now it has been probally around 4 years since I stayed here. Got in late Saturday, diamond checkin was closed and room selection was limited. Got a Hollywood Hip room facing the back side of the property on the 37 floor. This room was themed with The Untouchables Movie Props.

    untouchables.jpg

The tommy gun was in the main wall display area, with a newspaper prop in the table, and a portrait over the tub.

    IMG_20121008_082904.jpg

    IMG_20121008_083149.jpg

So the room and bed were in decent shape, outside of too much furniture for the space. Surprisingly the noise level was non noticable for a place like this. The Flamingo walls are paper thin and cater to the same crowd. My only complaint is the hallways are still way to dark and the common areas are getting pretty worn.

    IMG_20121008_083406.jpg

Okay back to the gambling. So my first stop after getting a drink on the floor and figuring my way around the casino was a $15 min bad rules BJ table near the pleasure pit. After I sat down, I noticed why three spots were open. A couple of drunk Serbians were here getting really obnonxious with the dealer. I am talking about reaching and touching for the dealers cards, drunk talk, and calling hand signals and hitting hard hands against the dealer low cards 4,5,7. I had bought in for $300 so I planed a couple of quick hands and I am out of there. First hand I put down $50 and $10 side bet on the 3 card carney game. What comes out is a AK suited clubs, and dealer up card was a 6 of clubs. Bam hit the three card hand on the first deal. 6/5 was payout on the BJ . Next hand I pressed my bet, and doubled up on the three card to $20. Boy was I sure glad I did, next cards out was a 7 and 8 of hearts, and the dealers face card was 9 of hearts for a Straight Flush. $20 on the 3 card side bet paid $600. Draw a 6 of hearts for a 21. Dealer flips over an ace of clubs for a twenty taking out the rest of the table. Next hand out $200 on the main bet and a nickle on side. My draw is twenty suited queens, while the rest of the table busts out before the dealer draws out a 22. At this point the Serbians start getting pretty obnoxious and the floor has to come over. I deceide a quick 1K in 3 hands is enough for me. I color up and head over to a quiet spot by planet dailies at .25 slot.

PHo has alot of these multigame video slots where you change the game and denomination. I found an open one that was set to Sirens at the .25 level. Bets range from 10 to 30 coins per hand.

I thrown a benny in, and ordered a vodka redbull from cocktail waitress and deceide to slow play this while I wait for my drink. I play it down to 250 coins getting a few hands, when my drink arrives. I deceide to play max bet of 30 coins and then I will cash out. BAM! the blonde siren lines up on every reel for a payout ot 4096 coins or $1,024 dollars.

I quickly cash out. At this point I don't know what to do with myself. 30 minutes into vegas, and I am up nearly 2K!

It around 10:30 pm PHo is way to crazy right now with the 20 something year old drunks, I managed to have some dumb kid run into me spilling a drink, so I head up to the room to change my shirt. I deceided to leave half my winning in the safe (still have 3 days to gamble) and head over to sports bar at Caesars. This allows me to play some VP and review the line for my NFL bets and catch the college football recap. I make it to the palace casino and deceided to take the route past the dollar slot area. I spot a lucky fountain $1 slot I won money on a couple of past trips, and deceided to throw in $20 dollars. First bet is $10 coins and lines up 5 bar symbols for a payout of $514 dollars.

    IMG_20121007_195001.jpg

I quickly cash out, and head over to the bartops. I managed to find a spot and throw a benny into a dbl dbl bonus .25 and watching sportscenter. I managed to play on the same $100 for around 2 hours racking up around 500 TR base credits. Hit alot of full houses and at least 5 four of kinds (10's twice, 5's, 9's). At this point the spill over from the pure crowd is overflowing to the sports bar, so I cash out at $225 and deceide to call it a night. Plan is to get up early and catch the NFL games, and lay money on the Chicago / Jacksonville game.

I go to bed around 1:30 am Vegas and have a wake up call set for 7:30 am. Plan to hit the Spice market buffet and burn up some of the $130 in comps I still have on my TR account. Get up SSS and head down to the buffet. Now of course the buffet line is packed, and one person is standing at the Diamond line. Its times like these that I appreciate the TR tier levels.

Get seating in the VIP area, my favorite server Myrna is working, she spots me and doesn't even ask what I want. I grab some fruit and eggs over easy and find A mimosa, coffee with extra cream, and an OJ waiting for me.

I have to say for the 10 plus years I have been coming to Spice Market buffet it has not dropped in quality.

I head over to the sports book and layout my NFL bets, I have a 6 game teaser mostly AFC games, and $50 straight up on the Bears.

I find a spot at the extra bar where Larry the bartender is working. For those of you who are fans of Sullys at Ballys. Larry is the Donnie of PHo extra bar. Larry remembers me from last time and brings me over a Corona NFL. The bartops were pretty crowded so I was only able to find a five play on the backside of extra bar. I typically don't play five play at DDB since it can quickly burn thru your bankroll if you don't hit Quads. Well third hand in I hold the 10 and King of clubs, and draw three to the royal on hand number three. I am in disbelief as the credit meter starts climbing. This marks Royal Flush #1 of the trip.

    IMG_20121007_093716.jpg

A spot opens up 5 mins later at a regular single line VP game, so I slide over 4 spots to the left, and slip a hunderd into .25 VP JOB. I figure since I am going to be watching the games, I did not want to have to think to hard. Not to mention that $1k royal is going to be saved for some higher denomination VP later later in the trip. One quick observation here. I noticed while playing at Extra bar, there are a lot of "working girls" at the Pho. I managed to get propositioned at least 3 times over the entire weekend, and the caliber of ladies were very high. So if you go to Vegas for that sort of thing, this appears to be the place to meet working girls.

Around 12:30pm all my games appear to be wrapped up. Looking at my parlay card I am 3 of 6 right now, with two games to go. I deceide to head down to the buffet to get some food in me since I a pretty buzzed from sitting at the bartop. Luckly I only managed to put back in $150 while watching football so I will count that as a win. I grab a quick bite, and head back up to the casino floor at around 12:50pm to catch the bears game. Extra bar is filled so I deceide to try to get a seat at the sports book.

Walking by slots, I spy an Octoberfest (at least thats what I call it) and deceide to throw $20 in it since a big breasted frauline was staring at me on the reels. Third pull in line up a bunch of fraulines for 60 free spins at 1.20 wager.

    This nice hit pays $310.

Picking up where I left off. So I head over to the sports book, At this point I am in Vegas less then 24 hours and still up $3200 bucks. PHo sports book is packed, and they have one TV on with the Bears / Jacksonville game. I decide my best shot was to park myself near a slot bank over by Earle of Sandwich where I can see the game. Well I spot this 1 cent Pirate progressive slot. Basically it has a minor and major progressive where if you hit 5 pirate ships you hit the minor, and 5 Skull and Crossbones you hit the major. So I pop in twenty bucks thinking Ill order a drink, chill, and try to get the Bears game put on one of the LCD above the slots in this area. The Denver game is on two of them one above a penny progressive bank, and the other next two the Mammoth American idle / Texas Tea community slot bank. Anyway, I flag down the cocktail waitress and slip her a twenty asking if she could get the game changed on of of the two screens. She is dumbfounded for a moment and says, she will try to find out. In the mean time she brings me a Vodka RB, and I start playing. Well about 10 spins in, I push max bet and get the bonus round of 15 free spins. You can guess what happens next. I touch the stop spin button and line up 5 pirate ships for the minor progressive. Its something like $130 dollars. A couple of spins later I do the same thing again, and this time 5 skull and crossbones for the major progressive which is just shy of $800 bucks. By the time the bonus round ends, I have $999.89 in worth of credits on this slot machine. I cash out just in time for my next drink to arrive and an update on the game request, Apparently to get the PHo televisions on the slot floor changed, they have to call up to security or AV control to get the channel switched. Fast forward to 30 minutes later, and they have only managed to put the Denver game on twi more televisions in the area. Apparently the simplest requests are the most complex and they dont label the LCD's on the floor. I cash out my ticket, and deicide to head over to Ballys sport book to watch the game.

Before heading out, I deicide to do the wise thing, and I drop off 2K in the safe up stairs, so I am not tempted to blow thru the bank roll chasing on high denom slots. I manage to get over to Ballys at half time. Bears are up, and my straight bet appears to be a lock, so I go ahead and place a couple of baseball bets on the Reds to take the world series.

After watching the game, and catching up on scores, it looks like my parlay is a loss.
Im itching to play some $1 VP, so I head up to the front of Ballys to hit the progressive banks. Here is where Royal number two will be hit...:drunk:

That was last year, when they had a major power outage at Ballys / Paris. All the power went out for around an hour, except for the emergency lights and Megabucks progressive which are apparently on battery backup.

SHHHH! You weren't suppose to tell about Larry. Now everyone knows! He pours a nice strong drink and keeps them coming! My wife and I started laughing when someone came up ordered a drink and then proceded to ask if his drinks are watered down. He snickered and said that he's known to pour a stiff drink.

    Great report!

I believe those big breasted fraulines belong to the slot titled "Bier Haus".

Awesome TR. Do you ever NOT win?

This is like the trips I dream about and then wake up to Chippy farting in my CPAP intake. Yeah, that's the kind of luck I have.

Fantastic trip report so far! Great hits on the royals. I hit three on a trip a couple years back; love playing with house money the whole trip. I am on a plane to vegas right now and just hope for at least a fraction of your luck!

Back to where I left off. I headed up the escalator toward the VP bank at the front of Ballys. Typically I play the bar-tops at Sullys but I was feeling lucky at this point. The progressive was up around $4100 on the dollar VP. I found a JOB and inserted 3 bennys in the machine.

It started out a little choppy with a few pairs with alot of draws. After I burned thru two hundred, I finally cashed out, and moved over to the .25 bartops next to this area. Sure enough on 4th hand in I get 4 to the Royal in spades, hold, and draw the Royal.

So for those following this TR, we are now less then 24 hours in, and I am up freaking $4K. 2nd Royal Flush. (One more to go) Last time I had a run like this was in Nov 2003 where I took 13K off Caesars Palace in a weekend hitting a couple of $1 and $5 jackpots.

My confidence is really climbing now, did you ever get on a hot streak and you feel you can't lose??! I mean this has been like an episode of las vegas.

I tip out the bartender and the slot attendant $50 each. I decide I am going to bump it up a notch and head over to the HL limit room at Ballys and try my hand at some $5 VP BeeeJay style. I decide I am going to press my luck, I can't loose right? I throw in $600 and $137 slot voucher I had in my pocket to a $5 bonus poker machine. It gets ugly really quick, I get down to around $200 when I finally start catch a straight and full house to bring me back up. I am able to hold my own for around 10 minutes, when things start heading south again. I get down to around 177.00 and decide I am going to play it down betting 2 coins. I bump it up 5 coins and then draw 3 8's. I hold the 8's and up pops the 4th one for a hand pay of $1250.

    4ofakind.jpg

So I am back up my $737 bucks and then some. I look at the meter and managed to rack up close to 800 TR points for the day so far. The attendant comes and get my info and does my hand pay. I tip out another $50 and decide to grab a bite to eat at the Paris diamond lounge and chill. I scored a couple of free tickets for Jersey Boys, so I plan to try to lay low on the gambling for the rest of the night. I phone the wife and tell her the news, and joke I may never bring her to Vegas again and only do solo trips. Up next my big hit on a Penny Enchantress slot.

Sunday afternoon I headed over to the Diamond lounge at Paris. Man this place was wall to wall senior citzens and I had to wait at the door for five minutes to get a seat. I have a regular cocktail server who's section I try to sit in each trip. Apparently the diamond lounges have become the new buffet when the hot appetizers come out in the evening. Lots of older people coming into during that 2 hour window to score the free food.

Now don't get me wrong, I like the freebies as much as anyone else, but when I go to Vegas its to relax and not wait for access to alcohol or gambling. I'd just assume go pay for a drink on the floor. Anyway the crowd starts to thin out and I manage to get a seat at the bar. I deceide I am going to change up the drinking a little bit and order up a great espresso Martini. This basically has chocolate vodka, kalula, expresso, and cream de cacao.

After hanging in the lounge a bit and getting a nice buzz. I head back over to the room to change, grab a quick bite to eat, and back over to Paris for 7pm show of Jersey Boys. I get back over to Paris around 6:20pm and have some time to kill so I sit down at a bank of Cashman penny slot and slip in 200.00. I start out on this African Dusk getting a couple of crappy bonuses. I play that down to around $120.00 and deceide to slide over to this Enchantress version of Cashman where max bet is $5 and you can line up diamond symbols for a wild reel. Pay symbols are castle shield, A, K, Q, J, 10, basically the stuff you find on the Aristocrat slots. So I am playing max coins $5 per bet, when I line up 3 purple shield symbols with a diamond in the middle, then the cashman bonus goes off, where the cashman guy comes out to spin certain reels and give you a multiplier. Well he skips the first, second, third, and fourth reel, and spins the fifth. The reel stops and up pops the fifth purple shield symbol for $600 bucks, wait it gets even better... The multiplier symbol pops up for a 10x pay. HOLY CR@P!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Music starts playing and the Call Attendant screen comes up for a $6000 hand pay. I can not freaking believe the luck I am having this trip, I may never come back to Vegas again since I have NEVER won on a trip like this before. I am shouting YEAH! YEAH! Awesome!!, and hi fiving the guy and his girlfriend sitting next to me.

Slot attendant and cocktail waitress come over, along with some gawkers to see what all the excitement was about. Unfortunately I went to take a picture and got scoulded by the security guy standing next to me, but you can kind of make out the payout in this blurry cell phone pic. Actually I was kinda PO'd, but they make the rules and I am not going to get into it with the people about to hand me $6K.

    6000hit_penny.jpg

I fill out the usual paper work, take the cash, tip the slot attendtant $200 bucks, and make my way to the Paris Theater. Jersey Boys was good, saw it in Cincy before, to tell you the truth, I am too exicited over the trip I am having to focus. I high tail it back to the room after the show, to lock up the money in the safe. I deceided while sitting in the show, that I was going to deposit the cash at the cage, and have them wire it home at the end of my trip. For you just checking in the tally for 1.5 days so far is 2 Handpays, 2 Royal Flushes, and up just over 10K. Unfreaking Believable!!
