So we all have our own craps bets and strategies that we prefer. But every once in a while I am beside a stranger at the craps table that's is making good bets and good money. They may have be paying at a higher level - but that's fine.

How bad/wrong is it to bet the same way as the stranger beside you (who is making $$)?

When people do that to me, I take it as a compliment.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Considering that the most common bet at the craps table is pass line with some sort of odds (usually not full) and placing the 6 and 8, I would say I have seen plenty of players copy one another!

    Hey whatever works right?

It's odd though that what may work at NYNY one night does not translate to PHo or Venetian the next.

Nothin' wrong with that at all. I always feel that there's more positive mojo backing up my bet if others are with me on it. Plus, copying bets is a good way for rookies to get familiar with the game.

The first time I played craps was at Golden Nugget about 10 years ago. I had no idea what I was doing so I just found a table with only one dude on it, and copied his bets.

Two years ago, I'm playing craps at Bill's gambling hall, and the shooter starts yappin' for everybody to make a Yo bet for $5. He was a little drunk, so everyone ignored him, but as I had also been imbibing a smidge I said, "what the hell! $5 Yo!"....wouldn't you know, he rolls it! 15 to 1 payout so I'm happy as a clam. He then stalls and tells everyone to make a Yo bet again. This time a couple of people throw down a dollar, but I throw down another $5....he hits again! I'm beaming, and ask him if third times a charm. He says "no!, but I'll tell you when to bet it again"
Sure enough the next roll is a 6, and he ends up making the point 3 rolls later. Next come out roll, he says, "time for that Yo bet again!" I throw in my $5, and probably half the table bets as well....he hits it! The crowd goes wild!!! After that he says he's all done with 11's for the night. He craps out a couple of rolls later, and colors up. All in all, a great session, and to this day, I always throw down a bet if someone actually calls out what he's gonna roll on the come out roll.

I've had a similar experience at MSS, but this guy was so drunk he was slurring and could hardly stand, lol! But he would accurately call out his rolls and the table did pretty good on his roll.

I always say, every table is different, go with the flow....:woohoo::woot::thumbsup:

I've seen people placing huge field bets at all the right times, but usually when I follow suit, their luck wears off. lol. So I usually play my own way. However if the shooter was calling numbers I would definitely jump in for the fun of it. Maybe throw a chip or 2 down for him/her as well.

The wierdest roll I had on a craps table was at the Deerfoot casino here
in Calgary.I placed my passline bet as well as $10 on the field and $10
on the world. The comeout roll was a 4 and I proceeded to throw 12
straight field rolls including 3 consecutive snake-eyes followed by
a boxcar. There were 5 other players at the table and we all placed
our line bets but I was the only person that bet the field. After 3 rolls
I encouraged everybody to bet the field but nobody did.I kept pressing
my field bet and did occasional "profit taking".Sadly I did not hit the
    snake-eyes with a $10 high/low.Had I done so and parlayed those bets
I would have won a ton of money. All told though I ran my $10 field bet
up to just over $900.In 12 straight rolls I did not hit a single 5/6/8 though
    I did manage a couple of 9's and 1 hard 10.

    Copying Bets

This used to be the only strategy I had at craps until I learned how to play the game more. I still don't understand all the betting, so I will occasionally copy bets that I see. Problem is, I sometimes have no idea if I won or not! :)

My wife just learned the game. All you have to do is what I tell her -- if they push you chips, pick them up.

My last Vegas trip I was "betting the middle stuff" as I call it. No idea what I need to hit, but still having fun. There were a couple of times when they pushed chips in front of me and I neglected to pick them up. Luckily, the stick guys at the IP are extremely nice and reminded me MANY times.

People do that with me all the time. I don't think anything of it.

Sometimes I'll follow someone's proposition bet believing their timing is inspired. Occasionally it will even pay off

I am strictly a Don't better, and often times when I am on a cold table I will get novice's asking me why I am winning when everybody else is losing. Sometimes they follow suit, other times they continue on betting the Pass Line.

That's because you are a practioner of evil, trying to turn people to the dark side. Or maybe I'm overstating it. :peace:

Hardly! In fact I make sure to tell them in the long run it really makes no difference, the casino takes it all!

I do the same thing. If you think about it, the casino does too, against all the number players at the table. They "don't" seem to be doing badly at it either.

I tend to catch changes in a person's bet.
If the dice go to a person and they start making a bet they haven't previously done like a hard-way bet I may jump on that bet too.
