Hi, I recently found this forum and I am now intrigued by slot hosts.

I am planning a Fri/Sat 2 night Vegas trip this coming October and I was wondering if it is worth contacting a slot host to review my play from previous years? Will the host be able to do anything for me before my arrival? (comp rooms, food, or etc). I've been getting 1 night comp stays during weekdays at the Luxor, but I was wondering if a slot host can do more for me.

Palazzo/Venetian - Grazie - I haven't been back in almost a year and my reward points haven been reset to 0.

    2011 - Coin In/Out = $2,256/$2,182
    2010 - Coin In/Out = $4,866/$4,802
    2009 - Coin In/Out = $2,876/$2,639

MLife - Last time I was there almost 9 months ago. I can't access my Win/Loss statement because the website is acting weird. But my

    Tier Credits = 10,606

    Looking forward to your feedback.

    Thanks.

On one hand: you can always call and ask. The worst they will do is say they can't help you.
Its not like if you call and ask they'll say something like "No I'm not going to give you free nights and for your insolence in calling I'm going to put a note in your file to charge you extra if you try to book a room here"

On the other hand: your play is at the "insignificant" level to any of these casinos.
You *might* have been able to get some love from a smaller Downtown casino if you had these kinds of gambling histories with them, but Venetian/Palazzo won't do anything for you and the MLife offers are just token slot player offers where they want to get you to stay on an introductory comp to see if you will play more (a loyalty thing: they have seen you play in their casinos and now they want to see if this is how much you play in total or if its just a fraction of what you play and you are giving action to other casinos and spreading yourself out or putting in a lot of play at a home base casino that isn't one of theirs).

In that you are looking for comp nights on a weekend as well... thats really not going to help you out there either.

    But my suggestion would be:
Have your MLife card handy and call the phone numbers on the back of your MLife card for Excalibur, NYNY and MGM Grand, in that order, and ask them what they can do for the days you want to stay.
Those are the three that are most likely going to be able to do something for you.

And for dates, not sure if you have them already picked out but the 7th and 8th of October are part of a holiday long weekend and the 27th and 28th are Halloween weekend - those are going to be the hardest weekends in October to get any comps out of.

I see what you mean. But what is weird is 2 years ago I've been getting free rooms from Palazzo/Venetian. But that has all stopped. I thought I was on the right path to continue getting comps.

Now I'm only seeing 1 night free at Luxor on weekday. I don't really care for the free rooms.

I'm more interested in getting comps for food or getting in nightclubs for free.

Which reward do you recommend? MLife, Grazie, or others?

If possible is there a slot host somebody can recommend for my level of play?

    Thanks.

I forgot to mention I will be staying at the Aria or Vdara.

Palazzo/Venetian were heavily overcomping for a while. Then in spring of 2011 they stomped on the breaks giving whiplash to many low rollers. I agree with auggie that your level of play won't generate any interest from the (higher end) properties you mention. For comparison, I have coin in around 30K (at least half on slots) with Caesars properties this year and I have never been contacted by a host.

Aria might give you a casino rate if you call the host...but as many people here have stated, you can find a better rate than the casino rate through other offers/specials. But you're not getting anything free up front from Aria based on that play. Sorry -- don't mean to be a jerk. It's just your numbers are small.

I'd avoid the host, but then stop in and see the host on your last day and see if they can comp anything for you at the back end, based on your play. That never hurts...charge a few things to your room, like buffets, or whatever, so that there's stuff to take off.

Pretty sure that level of play is not going to get you much. I did way more that that at V/P and got nothing for a year or so. They are now sending some offers.

As to offers, the very first thing that is offered is usually room. Sometimes some small food comps come out - very small, like a buffet, or 2 for 2 buffet. Nightclubs? Rare.

Nightclub offers tend to be from a specific property -- my guess is they send them out if their club isn't full anyway. I've had lots of offers for 2 free entries into 'club x.' Which isn't worth much, as all they are really comping you is the cover charge.

Guess I'll stick with whatever the mailer promos or online offers give me.

Yeah, that was 2 years ago...

What was happening then was: the company that owns those hotels was losing something around $20-30M per month in Las Vegas, so they decided to try the approach of "its better to have anybody in the room than nobody in the room" for a year, where just about everybody got free room offers from them.

The end result was: almost no change at all, they were still losing around $20-30M each month. So after the year was up they went the other route and tried not giving out any comps at all (which went worse and that policy only made it about 7 months before they reversed that decision).

So now things are mostly back to normal there: they give out some comps, but they are nowhere near as generous as they were a couple of years back.
