I just booked two comped nights at the Luxor w/$30 FP and have never stayed there before. The offer was good for a deluxe room, and I didn't think to ask if it was for a Pyramid or Tower deluxe room. Has anyone ever booked free nights at the Luxor with a lower-end offer and would you care to share what kind of room you were in?

Could anyone recommend requesting one vs the other?

Never stayed there, but I constantly see stories about the pyramid rooms being very worn out. I would definitely request the tower rooms if you want nicer accommodations.

When I have stayed there on an offer - the room has always been an automatic upgrade to a tower room - which as stated are the nicer accomodations.

I have stayed in both the towers - last time I was in the West tower which had the positive of an in-room safe.

    Have a good trip,

    MG

I've been in, but never stayed in, the pyramid rooms; as people have said, they've definitely seen much better days, although there's something to be said for the novelty of the slanted roof and the inclinator, as well as the proximity to the casino floor. But I've stayed in the tower rooms, and despite being a bit of a hike, they're definitely nicer, bigger, and have better views.

Tower for sure, much nicer rooms and one big plus is you don't hear the thump from the clubs all night long like you do in the Pyramid rooms.

Gotta go with everyone else. The tower rooms are newer/nicer than the pyramid and it's not that much farther away.

I'm in the west tower right now! The tower rooms really are a lot nicer. They've redone some of the pyramid rooms with new furniture and big TVs, but I don't know if they've done all of them. The pyramid room walls are rather thin, and atrium noise (clubs, slots, crowds) makes its way up unimpeded. The inclinators are novel but feel rickety and aren't very comfortable to ride in. The view over the railing into the atrium is pretty cool, though - you won't get that in the towers. And you need a keycard to get up the pyramid - unless of course you hitch a ride, which is not too hard.

Stay in a Tower room. I believe the East Tower is the tower closer to main check-in, but I'm not 100% sure.

I do know that getting in & out of your room from the casino is a snap. Very fast & the rooms are in MUCH better condition than the Pyramid rooms.

I've only stayed in the pyramid and they suck.
The rooms are small (and have a slanted wall ceiling that makes it even smaller)
    The lighting is inadequate.
    The bathroom cramped.

Nothing was filthy or broken, it's just a small dark room.
Not at all comfortable or relaxing, in my opinion.

I've only been in the pyramid and it was fine, but yea the wall is weird.. no bathtubs. Those are the rooms where you cram 5, 21 year olds in a room because it's cheap (NGL that's what we did haha)

We stayed in a Suite last year in the Pyramid, very spacious and clean. However it felt like a half mile walk off the elevator to our room.

I have stayed in both the Pyramid and Tower rooms. With your offer does it state "x complimentary nights with upgrade to Tower Deluxe Room"? Ours usually state that and we have always been booked in the towers unless specified to them we want a pyramid room (we did that once to try out the pyramid spa suite). When you book you can ask them if it's possible for a tower room or ask when checking in, the Luxor has plenty of rooms and upgrades are usually available.

The Pyramid is worn we were in a pyramid spa suite so I cannot tell you what a regular pyramid is like, the spa suite was spacious. It was in the corner and the wall was trippy as you get closer to the window, even for a shortie like me you still have to watch you don't bang your head.

Tower rooms are much nicer, we have stayed in both the West and East towers. Either are comparable as the rooms are the same, not sure if the East tower has safes yet but west tower does. I enjoy the bathrooms in the towers as they are spacious compared to some. If you able to upgrade to a tower suite they are larger and have a fridge/coffee maker in them.

Something to note is the jetted tubs in the bathrooms (if you get one) are disconnected at this time and they aren't sure when they will reconnect them at this time.

Someone mentioned you need a key to get up to the tower rooms, this isn't so anymore (we were there in July & August), they have deactivated that feature. It was a nice feature but in all honesty it's quicker now as most people (who were new to the hotel) didn't understand how to use the elevators when you needed the key to activate them.

    Hope this helps :)

I've stayed in the "tower luxury suite" - nothing special about it other than the fact that it was 2 separate rooms and larger than regular tower rooms. It has a large tub with jets, but these were off when I went in april, and it sounds like they still are, as per the poster above.

I stayed in a tower luxury suite in January, the jets were on then. That was actually a very nice feature. The tower suite had a small coffeemaker, with two coffee pods good for two cups.

I've stayed in the pyramid spa suite, in September of 2011. The spa was working then. I liked it as well, although if the spa wasn't working that would lose most of the appeal. Nothing is better than a spa soak either in the am waking up or after a long day in Las Vegas.
