Cirque Shows

In your opinion what are the best Cirque shows. Thanks.

 

You're going to get 6 different answers to this, because everyone has different tastes. Have you seen any of them? If not, pick one of the basic ones...Mystere, probably. If you don't like that, you probably won't care for the rest, either. The only one I wouldn't recommend is Zumanity, although some people like it, so that's probably just personal bias.

 

any but Criss Angel will be fine. Mystere, O and KA are probably the most universally recommended.

 

My personal favorite is "Ka" at the MGM. I really like the story and the music.

 

This thread already shows how varied opinions are on this. I've only see two, Love and KA. Love was amazing to us, we could not get enough! KA, we found very boring, and would not recommend.

I agree with him too...start with MYSTERE.

You want an UPPER REAR seat, SEC. 203 or as close to that as possible.
Down front is too close and the far Left 'n Right seats aren't a very good view.

opening at Aria. I'll see a preview on Nov. 8th so no reviews yet but...it looks great!

This question is asked often, but it has probably been a month or more this time around. And, as stated, you will get a wide range of answers.

Without a doubt, we would say Love. Been 6 times.

KA is great.

Mystere is a great first one, but we saw Love and KA first which left us underwhelmed.

 

I've seen Love & Zumanity and I would see both again without hesitation. Great shows.

 

For me it is LOVE.

If you are a Beatles fan, the soundtrack is reworked and great, imo. It is also the least "Cirque" show of them.

By that I mean, you are less likely to come out of it going the the hell was that about or what was up with this or that.

Just depends on your taste.

 

And I'm the exact opposite...loved KA and thought LOVE was just boring as hell. Good music but the rest was very uncirque-like to me. Not much acrobatics. It was mostly people in different costumes dancing badly on stage.

 

This weekend we are going to see Zumanity (first time) and Love (second time). We really appreciate the Love production based more on the music than the Cirque aspect. The theater is perfect with the sound system actually surrounding each seat. Of course, we grew up in the Beatles era.

I was pretty proud of my seat score for Zumanity until I did more in depth surfing on reviews. We have seats on the aisle in the fourth row. Normally, this would be ideal. But, it sounds like the probability for getting "involved" in the show has better odds if you're on the aisle and within the first few rows.

Anybody have personal experience with this, or other input?

In those seats, there's a good chance that you'll get brushed against by a performer or two, including the rotund twins who hand out chocolate-covered strawberries. But they tend to stop in the middle of a row for their "lean their ample bosoms into some poor guy's face" move. (I'm as spotlight-shy as anyone, but I got stuck in that position once, and it was actually quite, um, memorable.)

The Zumanity performers also tend to banter a bit with the people in the love seats at the very front. But it's highly unlikely that you would get pulled onto the stage at any point ... I'm pretty sure those folks are plants.

My advice: have a drink or three before the show, relax and enjoy whatever comes your way.

 

We saw Zumanity in May and really liked it. We had actually been to a couple "cirque" shows in our area (in Florida) and liked "cirque" productions in general..

Zumanity was different but you know that going in.. it's raunchy - yes. Funny - yes. Was the music fabulous - No - but that's not why we went.

Our seats were section 103/row F/Seat 10&11 and I thought our seats were good, not too close and not too far. They do allot of audience interaction at some points, and it appeared to be in the rows to the front of us. (this made me happy)

As someone mentioned getting too close to the stage is not always good - I did this for a show in our area and did not like to see the actors so up close and personal...

I am very happy we went, I think you will be pleased. (One word of advice, use the restroom before the show...) it's a far walk and you won't want to get up.

 

As requested, in my opinion:

• Mystere is the most circus-like.
• Ka has the best staging. It also repeats well.
• Love has the best integration of music and visuals. Of any show, ever.
• The most spectacular individual moments are in O (but it also has some of the dullest).
• Zumanity is better than it seems like it might be ... a good value for your money by Cirque standards.
• Criss Angel is not worth the money even if you get the tickets comped ...

Oh, and any list of Vegas Cirque shows really should mention Le Reve, which has all the trappings of Cirque without the name. Plus, it's good.

There is a new promotion for reduced tickets to many of the shows for $ 50 and up just announced on Facebook. I did a general search for weeknight shows and there are many very good seats for sun - thursday available even front row.

 

The only one I enjoyed was Zumanity. Tons of amazing acrobatics. It's also usually a great deal. Mainly the music ones I didn't like I HATED with a fire passion the Michael Jackson one, and I didn't like Viva Elvis. My parents said they enjoyed the Beatles one. But they also liked Elvis.. so it's really all opinion... there is just virtually no acrobats in it, so therefor why is it a cirque!?

 

I agree with 'Imondun'...you'll be safe in row 4 'martinr'.
In re to the drink suggestion remember...what goes in
is gonna come out and you might miss something cool
during the Show if you need to disturb the others in your
row to use the restrooms...........I'm just sayin'.

 

I'm confused....in Love there was a ton of the bungee jumping, roller skating, and the sort...but KA seemed to me to very little 'cirque'... just dancing, fake fighting, shadow puppets...

Also, Love seemed to be more action, whereas a lot of KA seemed slow, and very few performers on stage at the same time...


Shows why there are so many shows, to meet everyone's tastes.
