Wouldn't that cost about as much as a flight?

They will COMP anything if you make it worth their while. Vegas is legendary for outrageous COMPS, if you have the steam to push the engine.

    short answer: no.

long answer: that would fall under airfare reimbursement since the casino wouldn't be able to use a house limo, so they'd have to contract it out. basically you would have to set it up and they would have to reimburse you. it would work just like a flight from LAX. but unless you're putting in some serious play (10k theo per day or higher) it's not going to happen.

It would work just like a flight in terms of getting it comped, and certainly it could be done with the right level of play. However, it would cost far more than any commercial flight from LAX, well over $1000 each way. If you are already at LAX for whatever reason, you are much better off just taking another flight. All costs aside, the limo will fight the same traffic getting out of LA and the flight will get there in 45 minutes.

One of Natedog's trip reports involved a one way limo ride from Vegas to SoCal.

yeah, but that 45 minutes can turn into 3 hours plus when you get to the airport early, maybe the flight gets delayed, etc. depending on traffic, driving can be quicker.

Personally, if given the choice, I'd much rather take a several hour limo-ride from LA to Vegas than a 45-minute flight - flying [even first class] pretty much sucks domestically these days.

I routinely get limo rides comped from my house [philly 'burbs] to AC and back - it's usually two to two-and-a-half hours each way - and a nice long ride like that is really enjoyable in a limo - but of course in AC the economics are completely different, as they routinely send their "house" limos to fetch & return gamblers in NYC & Philly [they will even chopper people in & out from Manhattan].

How long is the drive from LAX to Vegas anyway?

Yeah, people quote 4 hours all the time but unless you are leaving before 6am or after 9pm--five to 5 1/2 hours is more realistic. Trying to leave Friday and return Sunday? May as well not go, you'll spend more time in the car than you do in LV.

From what I know and from what I have seen....

The mother of a friend/acquaintance hates to fly. The MGM sends a limo + butler to pick her up in the LA area. I don't know if they are using 'house' limos, but when it arrives, the butler will even pack her bags for her. She checks in and doesn't give them a check out date.
