This is probably a question for higher rollers than me, but hopefully someone can give me some insight. What is the best method to get your host to remove room charges prior to checkout? On a few of my trips over the past six or seven months, I've usually been given a small resort credit. So I would charge things to the room (usually spa services, shopping, minibar, etc.). Usually I just self comp the food with my mlife card because I rarely eat the expensive stuff anyway. So when it comes time to checkout, does anyone have a recommendation to get my host ot take care of my charges in excess of any resort credit. At Mandalay Bay this past summer, they took it off when I checked out without my having to say anything (in fact, they seemed surprised I had charged so little to the room). At Bellagio, I checked out, got charged, and my host called me later that day when I was home and told me he had credited my account for those charges. At Aria, same experience, except I had to reach out to my host after I got home and get to credit the charges back. What's the recommended method to get these charges taken care of (assuming my play warrants it)? I usually leave at the crack of dawn on my last day, so should I call my host the day before departure, go into the host office the night before or day of and see if anyone on duty can help me, or reach out after I get home and see if they will credit me. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks
My host always calls me the night before I leave...however if your host is not proactive I would give him or her a call then night before to review your account.
I've had the exact same experiences -- had stuff taken off by my host after I was already home. This past trip I went to the host office -- my host was off -- but they still took everything off. So I think there are a lot of ways, but I prefer to talk to my own host and will do that in the future.
Call your host or go to the host office and talk to them the morning before you check out. they'll look at your play and let you know if you qualify for any additional comps.
To my understanding, any shopping items are classified as retails/purchases. I seriously doubt that the host can comp and remove those amounts from your bill. The casino may do it exceptionally for the real whale (i.e, Natedogg). IMHO
I go sit down the night before with my host unless we go out to dinner or something like that. My RFB takes it off every day to my knowledge. Just looking at my bill on the tv I will only see tips and spa. I do typically remind him to use my express comps for the spa.
Actually, I've had it done before under the old Players Club system. And I'm talking the hotel gift shop, not any tenant or other retail space. I'm still the proud owner of comped Bellagio and MGM Grand t-shirts and keychains
I've had a couple trips where I've been leaving at the crack of dawn and just asked the front desk clerk to take off my Express Comps and then check later about primary comps, etc., and I've always wound up getting plenty credited that way.
You somewhat correct. They are considered hard comps... If the casino doesn't own the store (most are leased out spaces within the casino), it is more difficult to have them comped. However, that being said, if you have a large enough theoretical....then its all game. I've had golf course fees and outside restaurants bills reimbursed in my account with original receipts turned in....that is prior to departing the property.
Yeah, I always assumed it was a hard comp. But I also assumed it was a bit easier for them to comp two t-shirts and a keychain because what was their overhead in those items: two bucks, tops?
Sailboat, thank you very much for sharing your thoughts. Your "hard comp" situation could have been a history! With MLife continuously tightens up comps and cuts down expenses in all aspects, it will become very difficult to receive the "hard comp" as mentioned in your post. Unless the gambler is a real whale and the host bends back-n-forth to pursue it. There are several threads talking about MLife's recent audits. Many "host's previously authorized comps" are now charged back to the gambler's credit card or get deducted from the unused Express Comp balance. In my last month's trip, I stayed at Aria for 6 nights (August 17-23). Elements store sells a variety of ARIA merchandise as well as the everyday necessities. The store does not accept the Express Comp or charge to my room! It gives me 15% discount for being a MLife Platinum which is nice. I will create a new thread to discuss and find out how many people recently receive "hard comp" from MLife (including casino gift shop purchase, non-casino store purchase, and misc. expenses).
a few months back my host picked up about $400 in purchases from the pro shop at Shadow. they can do that every once in a while. also i got tickets to Mystere at TI through billbacks which are hard comps. then there's airfare, which is a hardcomp and i've received on multiple occasions recently. all just depends on theo. retail and tips is harder to get picked up, but not impossible. it just requires a large loss or large theo. i think Nate said 500k theo or 1M loss and they pick up all the tips.
Yes, unfortunately hard comps are getting tougher all the time. Just a shifter said, even tip comps are getting tougher for some of the larger players as well. Used to cover despite the level of action given. That being said, at least they haven't gone to tracking individual bets.... The Cosmopitan now track all bets for their larger gamblers. Reasoning... To ensure they are getting the best service possible for their play.... My thoughts...Dueche bank counting their pennies.
Pretty sure that is just another spelling for the type of clientele they tend to attract.... but we are not using that word anymore. LOL!
