Went to LV over Labor Day weekend. Got a nice delayed flight and finally saw what the taxi line could be on a holiday weekend, but that's a different thread. I stayed at Bally's. So when I finally checked in after midnight they said I canceled the reservation. This was not pleasing. I was trying to figure out what could have happened with the very unpleasant front desk girl who made it clear she was taking her break after she was done with me. Turns out I made a mistake in that I booked a room for 5 nights but could not make it the first night. I completely forgot about this and never amended the reservation (not sure about the customer service that states YOU canceled the reservation, but it WAS my bad). Anyway, in what I was told was a "full" hotel, they eventually found me a south tower smoking room, but I was too tired at this point to care and took the room (it WAS my fault, I agreed). She also said she was charging me the price I had booked, but that wasn't true. Anyhow, long story short, we did not end up spending hardly any time at TR casinos (quite a bit at Bill's). Not on purpose, we just went places we don't normally go. I have enjoyed decent room deals in Vegas for a few years with CET, but now Vegas only shows as $5 off rack rates. $5 off!! Could one trip of not giving them much gaming have had that great an effect? Could my room bungle have something to do with it? Either way, looks like I'm going to find a new base next time I'm out there.
To be honest, everything sounds "right" The room reservation issue was entirely your fault - no showing is considered cancelling your reservation, so unless your room was paid for entirely before you showed up it is the right thing for them to do to try and book it out to somebody else. For being "full" that sounds right for a Labor Day long weekend, but note that "full" doesn't necessarily mean 100% occupancy but usually that they are at the point of not taking any more reservations or allowing any more check ins without a reservation. For future offers that seems right as well: it sounds like you were there on an offer already and then you showed up and gave them little to no play... what they are doing now is what you should expect. And thats not to say your relationship with them is entirely damaged, but that for right now they aren't doing much of anything for you and that could change next month and is likely easily repairable with one or two decent days in their casinos.
Probably very easily repairable with some play at any casino as mentioned. It may also just be the time you are looking at booking for also. If you are checking for times that are higher occupancy already they may be less $$ friendly to you.
How often do you go? May want to stay outside CET for awhile, and if you want back in their good graces later, throw them some play. I think their play tracking is meant to be on last 18 months, so that would explain why one low trip would kill your offers, but also means its easy to recover. I've no played Caesars Windsor, and had offers recover later. And I know I didn't play up to my PH comp either. The ultimate is coming in the next week. You think you've angered Caesar ...
To Savage810 By your own admission, you arrived a day late, after midnight, on a delayed flight and on Labor Day weekend to boot. I can imagine your mood upon arriving and finding out that your reservation was canceled. And you say the front desk clerk was unpleasant. As someone familiar with the job of a front desk clerk, I must tell about the other side. Front desk clerks work an 8 hour shift and it can vary as to hours. They are on their feet the entire time, and except for 1/2 hour lunch, they are allowed one personal break. They cannot give unauthorized upgrades, free meals, etc. Many people are obnoxious and demanding, argumentive, dirty mouth, sometimes drunk, and very difficult to please. Late arrivals so often are very cranky after a long delayed flight and take their frustration out on the first person they see, namely the front desk clerk. And on an especially busy day, a front desk clerk most likely is also frustrated. The job can be tough and is not for everyone. Would you or yours like to try it? Of course, most people are pleasant and make up tor the lousy stuff. Front desk clerks are closely monitored as they are on the front line and to promote goodwill and the profits that accompany it.
Are you telling me that because some customers can be "obnoxious" and "difficult" that the front desk clerk was justified in having a poor attitude with me right off the bat? That makes no sense. I was incredulous when she kept telling me that I had canceled the reservation, when I knew I had done no such thing. I never got angry or rude, but I could not accept that I took this action of canceling. It took quite a while for her to tell me "you did not show up last night so that is why your reservation shows as canceled", which would have made complete sense. Lastly, "would me or mine like to try" working a front desk? Please, like that is some great feat? I have spent most of my adult life in customer service-type positions and in no way is a front-desk clerk particularly crapped on more than the rest of us. Knowing what its like on the other side, I always go out of my way to be friendly and reasonable as the customer in such situations. Anyway, enough of that noise. For the first time in years I have no comp rooms on the horizon at their properties in Las Vegas. Time to stay elsewhere. (Heh, although I had already booked a comp at Paris for the holidays....)
If you have Paris already booked for the holidays, I'd keep it and then give them the lion's share of your gambling (no pun intended). That is probably enough to get you back into good graces. Sounds like this past trip was just a misunderstanding on many levels.
