Make me feel good about the Fremont

I've stayed downtown a lot, but mostly at MSS, Golden Nugget, and 4 Queens. Never spent a night at the Fremont, and really hardly ever play there as well.

I'm guessing the accomodations are pretty comparable to 4 Queens? I know a few of the regular contributors here stay there a lot, so thought you might be give me the scoop and any tips. (Turtleman, I think it's your 2nd home, right?)

I'm getting lousy offers from my go-to properties, and thinking about trying something new for an upcoming trip.

 

I spent one night at Fremont when MSS was overbooked.
They put us in a suite.
I tried to get them to let us stay there the whole time
but they wouldn't.
Reston, do you have any breathing problems ?
I find The Fremont casino extremely smokey.
I'm suppose to tell you something "good" --
The suite was "interesting" !.......very old school !

 

Quite comparable to the Four Queens.

Their rooms can be smaller, but I'd call them cozy, rather than cramped. Nicely decorated. Bathrooms are definetely smaller. Somehow, given their similar proximity to the FSE I've found the rooms at Fremont quieter, on the whole. (Granted, I haven't stayed in every one of them, but it's my experience.)

Location can't be beat.

Staff is friendly and accomodating.

Valet parking more convenient than 4Q.

What's not to like??

 

I won't try to talk you in or out of the Fremont but you can get a larger room & bathroom for about the same price at The D. We stayed there last month and were very pleased with it.

 

I am staying at fremont christmas week. looking forward to it.

Reston I agree with Candy Apple... I find we get better deals at the D... the rooms are about the same price if you are paying and both are comped for us... but D has a much better comp point system... I've played at Fremont for years and never got much more than a free room now and then and a little bit of free play... D gives you much more for the same gambling dollar.

Fremont is part of the old Stardust Boyd group... Stardust gave us wonderful comps, but the other Boyd casinos are not near as generous with their comps.

If you're thinking of changing casinos, suggest calling for a host at "D" and see if you can get a deal... also get on their email list... you'll be pleasantly surprised at the good offers.

 

Just about! Actually, for the past several months, we've been favoring Suncoast. We find it has the best rooms of all seven Boyd/Coast Vegas properties and enjoy the casino. Too bad it's so far away, but they have free shuttle service to/from the airport and the WAX goes right there too. To be honest, we're getting bummed out on downtown altogether. Still like the casinos, but the FSE has turned into one giant freak show!

As for the Fremont, we still like it, and "cozy" is definitely the right word to use. We can't even stand to walk into the D!

Never thought about the D. Have all of the rooms been updated?

I thought originally about Fremont b/c it's Boyd and I can get a player's rate that's a little cheaper.

We just came back Sept 13 from the Fremont Hotel, never stayed there before but really loved everything about the property. Rooms were roomy not overly big but a good size. Everyone in the hotel was very cheery and helpful from the person that checked us in to the dealers at the table, to the resturants and also the cleaning people. Did not have a single complaint except they need to have working exhaust fans in the bathroom. Other than that wonderful. The prices were good for the room and we got a $20 meal credit each day that we stayed. I will never stay at the 4 queens again. The other half of our 10 days in Vegas was split with the 4 Queens stay away, room ok but everyone else is miserable, unwelcoming and no customer service.

 

The Fremont is where the casino scenes in Swingers were filmed.

 

No, but you can request one that has been. The bed was very comfortable and carpet was new.

I've stayed many times at the Fremont and have always been happy with the rooms. I like to play there, also. Will be returning next month.
The rooms are not large, but, that's not where I spend most of my time! Great location, too.

Vegas Baby! VEGAS!

 

We found the Fremont extremely noisy, had no other issues with the place, but won't be staying again.

 

Will be there 3 weeks from today!! First time staying there. First time staying downtown in over 20 years. Very excited to see what the downtown area is like today.

Isn't it funny how one person says the rooms are quiet, and the next says they are loud. One says roomy, one says cozy. One loves the people, another says they are rude. ETC ETC ETC

Everyone has their own little quirks, likes, and dislikes. All I ask for is a clean room, good eats, a good gamble, free drinks, and a fun craps table. From what I have read, i think the Fremont will hit the spot. If not, there are 10 other places within a couple of blocks we can go to.

I haven't stayed at the Fremont but most people say its similar to MSS although a bit smaller, especially the bathrooms. I'm not too fussy about rooms as long as they are clean it's fine by me.

I'd like to comment on the casino, which I happen to like. The patrons are a mixture of laid-back friendly Hawaiians, (like me, lol!), great locals, friendly tourists from all over the country, and VERY interesting characters of all kinds, but mostly harmless.

Although quite cramped, especially the slot area, it's always jumping with activity. The vibe is definitely fun and the drink service is great, but I play table games and my wife says the drink service is not as good at the slot areas.

The dealers are really friendly and talkative, that's why I love to play craps there. They get to know you by asking your name and they seem to strive to make you comfortable and at ease.

Quite a bit of locals frequent the casino in the early mornings and are great people to play with at the craps tables. The $3.00 craps table is always jumping and a fun place to socialize. Made a lot of friends with the local Las Vegans, who seem to love to play table games for fun, not necessarily to make money.

Overall I think you will enjoy the hotel and casino. I plan to stay there in the future. I always stay at the Cal or MSS but that might change next time I visit.

Hubby and I stay almost exclusively at the Fremont when we visit Vegas. My fave meal is the turkey sandwich at their little Lanai Grill snack bar. Only prob is they won't serve it after 11pm....WTH because it's a COLD sandwich! LOL

Dealers are friendly, most speak EFL (not ESL) and the comps are pretty good. The $20 trick always works and if you want a comp for dinner (either go to Tony Romas or the Second Street Grill), just ask a pit boss or go over to the lady by the $5 machines.

We don't spend loads of $$ but last year, had 10 free nights comped, plus dinner. Also love the location - out the front doors and you're right across from Starbucks, etc.

I HIGHLY recommend the Triple George for lunch/dinner - it's about 1 block behind the Fremont and has amazing food and service.

I posted pics and a huge TR last time we went (Dec 11) but don't know if it was here or at the LVA site - probably there.

The Fremont, like many hotels, has rooms in locations that are considerably noisier or quieter than others. For sure, a room overlooking the FSE will be very noisy, while a room toward the back will be noticeably quieter. Many years ago I got a room by the canopy and immediately returned to the desk to make a change. I learned to request a particular location; it makes a big difference.

 

Besides away from Fremont St, any specific location suggestions for a quiet room?

 

The hotel runs from north to south, and Fremont canopy is on the south end. To avoid the noise, just ask for something further away from the canopy. Higher floors are even better.

BTW, they will supply your room with a coffee pot free of charge if you ask when checking in. You have to be present while it is delivered, which is usually within 15 minutes. I tip the delivery person a five, and they also give you a basket filled with varieties of coffee, creamer and sweeteners. Well worth the tip.

They also have some of the best in-room toiletries in Vegas, called Eco-essentials. Generously-sized tubes of shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion that are high quality and have a great mild almond-like scent. All of the Boyd properties have them.
