Anyone had experience of the new international terminal ? is it complicated in getting to the custom/luggage area's? Is there much walking ? Also on leaving is the area better for shops/eating etc. than the old terminal.Would love to hear your reactions as the old terminal was a bit dyer.

For your arrival: they can't make it complicated for you to get to customs/baggage claim otherwise it would give people a chance to sneak in to the USA. Expect the same glass walled walkways the old terminal had that lead you from your gate to customs.

For your departure: Yes, they have quite a bit more in the way of shops and restaurants - the place is pretty big. Also, it is hard to do any worse than the old international terminal :)

I flew in and out of there on a domestic flight and found it much quicker and easier getting in and out than Terminal 2. The terminal is new and shiny and yes, has a lot of shops.

Awful - shiny and new but no where near enough Immigration staff. When I went through in August there was a massive delay at Immigration that also delayed the bags getting on to the carousel as it was not designed to store the bags whilst waiting for passengers to clear immigration. All in all we got out of the airport 1hour 40 after we expected to. The old terminal was a much more pleasant experience.

It sounds like your issues were just situational: Its a new terminal and you happened to be going through at a time when they hit a snag that they had trouble dealing with, likely because of the newness of the terminal.

Old terminal or new the Las Vegas immigration and customs checkpoint has always been extremely slow.

At customs and border entry points elsewhere in the USA, where they expect a lot of illegal immigration and entry to be happening, generally process people 10-15 times faster than Las Vegas does processing all those Canadian and European tourists.
