Leaving on Friday for a quick weekend trip and I am currently booked at NYNY. I can get Monte Carlo at pretty much the same price but was wondering what other people's opinion would be to stay. I will be lounging at the pool for most parts of the day so I think the MC would be better but I enjoy the Casino at NYNY way more than the MC. Does anybody have info on the renovated pool at NYNY as well?

    Thanks in advance!

I can't answer about the pool. But I think the choice between the two is more about atmosphere - NYNY will be a lot busier, and the Monte Carlo feels quieter.

If you stay at MC for the pool access - no reason you can't go next door to NYNY to gamble if you prefer that casino. Much easier than the other way around. Personally I like the MC casino better as well but to each his own.

I've never stayed at NYNY so I can't speak for that, but I loved Monte Carlo. Nice rooms, nice casino, and the pool can't be beat. As mentioned before, NYNY is not far at all so you can just walk over there if you prefer that casino.

I was there back in May so I think that was after the NYNY pool rennovations and they don't hold a candle to the Monte Carlo pool in my opinion. They are both so close to each other that I'd stay at Monte Carlo, play there for the things that you do like there and just walk over to NYNY to get your fill there. I think the rooms are Nicer at Monte Carlo also. Oh, also, for your "resort fee" at NYNY you get wired internet (not wireless) which is useless if you travel with your tablet instead of a laptop.

Two of my favorite places to stay. My preference is the Monte Carlo, but I am staying at the NYNY in less than 3 weeks. I am half working & vacationing while I am there.

If I was going just to gamble and play poker, I would stay at MC. NYNY will be busier, but I like gambling there less. I like the restaurants at NYNY better than MC. The pool at MC is larger w/ a lazy river, but I think the Cabanas and drink service is better at the NYNY. The sportsbook is much larger at MC, and they do have a buffet if that is important.

Luckily, they are next door to each other so whichever one you stay at it's a short walk across the Brooklyn Bridge to the other place.

If you do stick w/ the NYNY, make sure you ask for a room on a high floor away from the roller coaster at NYNY.

This is the best advice on the thread, being so close, it is almost like one big casino. I've stayed at both, MC has a better pool atmosphere, but the NYNY casino has a better atmosphere. Rooms in MC are brighter, and you are assured of not having a room near the coaster.

My understanding and having done this about a year back is that if you are staying at NYNY you can access the MC pool with your NYNY key card

I've stayed at both. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to either one, but my favorite is Monte Carlo.

MC is my favorite place in town. Love the pool, casino, and restaurants. Upgrade to a Monaco Suite or HOTEL32!

We are booked at NYNY for next month. We have stayed at MC 2 times 2nd time was a comp, as our first stay was anything but relaxing. Our Non- Smoking room smelt like a cigarette factory, and our trip to the pool was a drunk fest. Nothing like paying to rent tubes for your kids to float around the lazy rive rand having drunks fall into them and take their tubes away. Second stay at MC can't complain, but didn't spend any time out by pool.

Looking forward to giving NYNY a try, so any tips for a great stay is appreciated.

    Depends on the age.

Monte Carlo : Pool is very crowded. A lot of 20 somethings and families. A lot of drunks.

Anyone over 30 probably would probably prefer NYNY.

My last 5 stays have been at these two properties, and I strongly disagree. I'm over 30 and I prefer MC by a wide margin. I find the crowds and the way the casino is set up at NYNY to be more suited to younger folks, while MC tends to be an older group.

The exception to this would be the pool...but if pool is important to you, it's not like NYNY is going to help you out, so MC is really the only option, even though it tends to be younger people.

MC might get a younger vibe on a Saturday night, but really that's about it. And I've only seen that on one trip.

I've never stayed in a standard room at MC, but I'd guess they are about equal to the standard at NYNY. The low end suites at MC are definitely better than the low end suites at NYNY (ie MC Spa suite >> NYNY spa 'suite')

Food options are really pretty even, depending on taste. NYNY probably has a bigger variety, and they have a couple good bars. MC has the brew pub, which is okay for what it is. But they are so close you can walk back and forth for food, anyway. NYNY has mexican food, MC doesn't (Gonzalez y Gonzalez)

For gambling they are pretty even, except NYNY probably has slightly lower limits...you'll find $5 craps a little more often at NYNY compared to MC. NYNY has that circular bar in the center which has pretty good VP (97% paytables at quarters, 98% paytables at $1, and full pay at $5.) Great place to play if you want fast drink service. They both have reasonably good BJ rules. I'd give the overall VP edge to NYNY, but neither are great.

MC is an easy walk to Aria, if you are looking that direction. NYNY is an easy walk to Excalibur if you want the cheapest MGM gambling.

If you want hookers, definitely NYNY > MC :rolleyes2:

Usually stay at NYNY but play at both.
IMO, NYNY's atmosphere is better, they have newer machines and better choices in places for quick eats.

MC has some of the older machines which I enjoy and we had a HUGE breakfast there and it was excellent.

Does Monte Carlo have those people by the elevators who check key cards?

As far a casino vibe, I like MC much better...I've never stayed at NYNY but I do like Hotel32! @ Monte Carlo.
