I know the limo that's picking us up from McCarren is taking us to the Augustus entrance which correct me if I'm wrong is the VIP Porte Cochere. To check in, do we need to walk over to the main lobby or is there a separate check in for the Augustus tower? I looked at the map and all I see is the Diamond and Seven Stars registration desks.

There is separate check in. When you enter it is straight ahead on the left.

Cool, thanks. I was sure I had read somewhere about it but wasn't so sure when I was looking at a map earlier.

Any ideas on how successful the $20 trick is there?

What are you trying to upgrade to, a suite or a better view? You can ask for a fountain view, but they didn't accept my post check-in tip at Diamond checkin once as I was leaving. The only "standard" room upgrade would be to the Octavius tower. From what I've seen online they don't seem that different to me, maybe someone else who's stayed in both can describe the differences?

I'll be happy with a view of the fountains and a high floor but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want a suite. Problem is we need two beds and correct me if I'm wrong but don't all the suites only come with 1 king?

Thanks for linking to that. From reading it I'm thinking I don't want to be in the Octavius tower if it's offered.

I know the Palace tower has Jr suites with 2 beds, Augustus may have that option as well.
