Have any gamblers stayed at Vdara before? The wife talked me into staying at a more "relaxing" resort during our trip in october. Usually I spend 5-7 hours/day at a table. If anyone has stayed at Vdara before, what became your "home" casino and which ones were the most accessible by foot?

Have not stayed there but you have easy access to Aria & Bellagio. Out the front to Aria, out the back to Bellagio. A bit further to the tables at Bellagio.

It would probably become a pain to do it on multiple occasions but once or twice a day should be fine.

I just returned Tuesday night from an eleven day stay at Vdara :(

I had stayed there last September as well, and I absolutely love it. As far as nearby casinos go, when you walk out of the front lobby you go to the left and Aria is only a couple of hundred feet away across a walkway. It is very convenient and easy to get to. Before you get to the walkway, you will pass a silver statue and there is an elevator and a stairway located next to it. If you go down to street level you will be able to walk to Cosmopolitan which is also right there next door.

The walkway to Bellagio connects right from the VDara lobby - you just walk through to Bellagio, and while it is a longer walk to the Bellagio casino than to Aria or Cosmopolitan, it is really not that bad. Aria was my casino of choice this trip. I like Bellagio but it is always so much more crowded than Aria.

There are no dining options at Vdara (except for a tiny store in the lobby that sells a couple of items) but you are close to three major properties with plenty of dining to choose from.

As far as relaxing is concerned, it really is a beautiful, very calm hotel BUT be sure to request a room facing the rear mountain view or a south view. I was in an room that that had a spectacular view of the north strip as well as the front of Vdara but the extremely loud pumping music from Marquee at Cosmopolitan was blasting all night long about four out of seven days a week. I always travel with earplugs to sleep so it didn't bother me but if I did not have earplugs I would have been pissed. It was so loud that when I put my hand on the windowsill I could feel it vibrate from the bass. Even when I turned up the television to top volume, you could hear the bass from Marquee pumping the in the background. And Marquee has a day club as well as a nightclub so it was going all around the clock!

This unfortunately, is not just a problem at Vdara - when I stayed at Aria in July, I was in a panoramic corner suite and the view was breathtaking but it was the same situation as Marquee was even closer (funnily enough when I stayed in one of the Cosmopolitan Terrace Suites back in April, I couldn't hear the music from Marquee at all, even when outside on the terrace! Even though my room faced the Bellagio fountains, you would think I could still hear the blasting music being in the same hotel, but I couldn't). I honestly do not know how the city can allow the club to blast music that loud - there has to be some ordinanace.

Request a room as far away from Marquee as possible and you won't have a problem. I am sure you will really enjoy Vdara as much as I do!

You will be surprised how close Vdara is to Aria, that's not a problem at all. Its a great location and the rooms to me are tied with Encore as the best on the strip.

I have been on about the 40th floor looking north and at that level, never heard Marquee fwiw.

I've stayed at Vdara several times and I think it's the most underrated hotel on the strip. If I get time today, I'll post more info. :)

I was on the 48th floor in an Executive Corner Suite that had views that wrapped around from facing the front of the Strip (facing Harmon) all the way to a partial mountain view in the rear. I don't know if all that glass had something to do with it, or if Marquee has taken to pumping up the volume to an even higher level, but it was definitely loud and noticeable. When I mentioned it to the front desk at Vdara (as well as at Aria last time) I was told by both properties that they have had numerous complaints and that Cosmo had turned a deaf ear (no pun intended) to MGM's complaint about the noise. I would be very suprised if MGM's legal team isn't already working on a legal solution to force the Cosmopolitan to lower the noise volume at Marquee.

Thanks for all the input. I was going into vdara relatively blind. Im sure we'll enjoy it. We have a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen so hopefully the lack of restaurants in the building shouldn't be a problem.

You have access to Aria, Bellagio as others have said but also Monte Carlo via tram.

Sort of. To take the tram, you either backtrack to stop at Bellagio - shortest walk. Go out back door or Aria into Bellagio then upstairs to tram

OR - walk across street to Aria, through Casino and up to Tram... and then realize that is already the last stop and same stop for Monte Carlo.

Or walk through Aria to shopping center... even longer walk.

Minor details hey its Vegas, people have no where to be..... Yeah when I wrote it was thinking of the backtrack to Bellagio was the shortest...but nonetheless you do have access to the tram.... Of course the people downtown also have access to the same tram if they take a bus or walk far enough....

I concur that the Vdara is a great hotel. I prefer having a fridge to store any drinks I may bring with me to Vegas.

I prefer it to the Aria, because I can get a great deal there and at my deal level the rooms are better.

I haven't found out if I can use the Aria pool yet, if I stay at the Vdara. The Vdara pool is not the best in the area.

    Cheers,

    Cosmo

    Have no concerns about Vdara:
    1. Like others mentioned, aria and bellagio casinos are very close. Cosmo is a short walk back up harmon street. PH, Paris, and Ballys across from Cosmo.

Monte carlo is a connected walk from Aria, and Caesars is connected by outside walkway to Bellagio.

    2. Many many many dining choices within a 1-10 minute walk.

    3. Rooms and in-room amenities (IMHO), are fantastic.

    4. Wireless internet when I was there 2 weeks ago was great.

    5. 5 minute cab ride to various off strip locations (Orleans, gold coast, palms, etc).

Vdara is my favorite place! I'm not a 7 hours a day gambler, but, it takes like 3 minutes to get from your room into Aria's casino, when I stayed there I gambled a lot there.

It's also fairly easy get to Bellagio and Monte Carlo as well, then easy to hop across the street to those resorts there.

I didn't notice any Marquee sound from our City Corner either and we were facing Cosmo. However, I did hear it at PH..

The rooms there are worth staying in, so much nicer than any casino room i've been in lately.

We stayed there last March. We had a mountain view and Aria view room. The rooms are very nice and does have great amenities (there's even a washer and dryer inside a door next to the kitchen.) As others have mentioned, not much in a way to mention of food choices...but yes, it's a short walk to other options. We gambled at the Aria, and it was just a short walk to get to it also. All in all, I believe you will enjoy the Vdara, I'm sure we would stay there again if we are looking for a nice resort room.

Nice to hear all the positive reviews about Vdara. I'm staying there in two weeks myself, and was a little nervous after reading reviews on other websites. I'm in a city corner room and they look really nice, but the reviews still had me nervous. I do have a question though for the Vdara experts out there, someone mentioned about the washer and dryer in the room...do they give you free detergent to wash your clothes with, or how does that work out? I'm also thinking about possibly using the kitchen once or twice during my stay.

Yes, I believe there is detergent! I just used the dryer to fluff up my clothes really, but I'm fairly positive I remember a small box of Tide or something.

The kitchen doesn't have any pots and pans or anything, but I'm guessing you can ask them and they will get you some.

The view from the City Corner is priceless, best I've ever seen!

Thanks! And that's good news about the Tide. I'll be there for 7 days, so I was thinking that it might actually be something of use for me. Also good to know about the pots and pans as well as the city corner's being awesome. Now just fingers crossed I'll end up on a high floor!
