Hi! Back on the board after a couple of year break.

We are headed to Vegas in about 6 weeks and always enjoy a nice Italian dinner. We don't need an overwhelming setting but like good food in quality and quantity without spending a fortune. We are looking for salad and entre in the $25+ range and will probably have a bottle of wine. Would like dinner for 2 with wine including tip to be in the $100 range -- a little more if the service is great.

We used to enjoy the Italian restaurant at Harrahs and were disappointed when they closed it up.

    Grazie!

We also loved the Italian restaurant at Harrahs. We found that the Italian restaurant in Paris...right next to the little fountain, across from the buffet is quite good. I forgot the name. It is very cute inside and the food and service is good. They do have an early bird special with a glass of wine, salad, entree and dessert that is well worth the money. We always eat there early the night we are flying out. I am sure you can find the particulars on the Paris website.

We love Chicago Joes on 4th street, downtown.

Probably been there 6 times, always good food and good service at a good price. Check Restaurant.com for a certificate.

Check out Chicago Joes website they have a nemu with early bird specials.

I have enjoyed Il Foriano at NYNY. Not quite center strip, but worth the walk

What's the place right around the corner from the Flamingo...I can't remember the name. It was good, and not expensive.

Battista's maybe? [though opinions are polarized on here as to whether Battista's is good or not].

Yes and people love it or hate. For the total experience, I love it.

Rao's at Caesars Palace is a mainstay when it comes to Italian. I've been there several times and have never been disappointed.

Dinner for 2 with tip and a bottle of wine is really pushing the limits.
I was going to suggest Raos plus Sirio at Aria or Circo at Bellagio.
I also really like Fiamma at MGM.
Unfortunately all of these are very good Italian restaurants but none will meet your budget restrictions.

Onda Ristorante at Mirage is a solid Italian place with good service and a menu that offers enough options to meet your budget. It's tucked back in a corner and thus a bit difficult to find, though. It's also one of those places that looks tiny from the outside but is actually quite large inside.

What about Il Fornaio at NYNY? I've never been there but seems to fit the budget.

It is a good choice but I tend to think of it as a chain restaurant because there are some in SoCal where I live. Never has a bad experience at any of them, including the one at NYNY.

Italian is sooooooo subjective! It might help to say which style of Italian you're looking for. Those who are looking for traditional red sauce dishes may be very disappointed at a Northern Italian or Italian Fusion place and vice versa.

I've never had a bad meal at Battista's. Yes, yes, I know, some people consider it to be sub-Olive-Garden. It's not cheap, but certainly reasonable, particularly if you factor in the AYCD house wine. :)

That's a bit of a wish list for centre strip. I'm not sure where the suggestion for Chicago Joes downtown came from!

Some decent places mentioned but $100 will not cover a 2 course meal, bottle of wine and tip at Rao's, Circo, Onda...

I think Il Fornaio at NYNY is a good option. Quite nice setting, good service, tasty breads, reasonably priced dinner options and a wine menu with some less expensive bottles.

I've read wonderful things about D. Vino in the Monte Carlo and I believe they make their own pasta from scratch? You can see their menu on the Monte Carlo website and it looks completely in line with your budget. As we always stay at the Monte Carlo when traveling to Vegas, I can tell you I've seen this place and looks really nice. The wine displays are terrific.

Re: Battistas. I LOVE that place but my husband hates it. We've been there three times, once we brought friends with us. I honestly just wanted to try it for the free wine because I've never been to a place that offers free all-you-can-drink wine with your meal. We've always left stuffed. The decor may be authentic "Old School" Vegas but it reminds me of a Bucca Di Beppo. The plates and silverware are straight out of a high school cafeteria or hospital . . . . . but the wine is all-you-can-drink =) I also felt unsafe (perhaps I'm over reacting though?) walking there in the dark.

If you don't mind walking a couple blocks, The restaurant at Ellis Island has a section of their menu devoted to Pasta and other Italian dishes. Dinner for two with wine will fall way below your stated budget.

I have never had a bad meal there. The only downside is that there can be a long wait for a table at peak times. But that's only because it's popular.

I LOVE Battista's. We always used to stay at Bally's and it is a 2 minute walk from the exit near the sports book. Go see Pho at the bar at the Bally's sports book. Tell him Gail from Youngstown sent you, he'll hook you up. The BF and I have sat and talked to him for hours. If I take hours from gambling, he is good. He is the best beer replacement specialist in Vegas. I am a bartender...I know. But I digress.

We have always had a blast at Battista's. They have an old man there who plays accordian at your table. He always plays us the Ohio State fight song cause he asks where you are from. Then he taps a dollar bill on top of his accordian to remind you to tip him. The food is great and the aycd wine isn't the best in the world but it keeps comming so you don't care. There are pictures of the owner with every movie star and sports figure you can imagine, from now to back 50 years or so ago, all over every wall in the place. It is pure vegas kitch and I love every minute of it. A must stop in Vegas.
