    Hi,

As I will be at Vegas alone this trip, was wondering what you might reccommend for retaurants that have options to eat at the bar. More specifically, mid to South Strip. Not too worried about price, if its a cool or unique place. I like all kinds of food.

    Thanks

    J

For mid strip for a couple of decent spots are the Peppermill and The Grand Lux at Venetian. Just about any place that has a bar should let ya dine there so your options will be plentiful.

L'atelier Joel Robuchon @ MGM has a counter you can eat at & watch the open kitchen from.

I've been to the following solo at the bar and had a good meal and was treated well

Mon Ami Gabi, they were cool but the bar felt small
Strip House, bartender was friendly and talkative to me, which I appreciated
Carnevino, bartender was also friendly and gave me lots of wine to sample, I hope I tipped well because I got drunk.
Rao's treated me nice. I read here that the head chef left, which was for the worse. But they were very nice both times I ate at the bar, including an order at closing time.

Honestly, Vegas is one of the best/easiest places to do solo dining in the country. It might be helpful if you gave more information about your food preferences.

L'atelier Joel Robuchon is one of my favorite places to dine solo, but it's not for everyone. It's expensive and caters to foodies. Personally, I think L'atelier is very cool and unique.

I've also found the American Fish happy hour @ Aria to be a great place to dine solo. The bar food and craft cocktails are excellent.

    Holstein's at Cosmo!

When I was there in February, most of us eating at the bar were solo travellers.

Not mid to south Strip, but I will still mention the Society Cafe at Wynn/Encore.

They have happy hour specials until 6:00 PM. The lollipop chicken wings ,meatballs, and mac and cheese bites are worth the trip.

    Good atmosphere and friendly bartender.

The Pyramid cafe at the Luxor overlooks the casino so you can people watch. At Mandalay Bay try Burger Bar or Red Square for their great lunch specials.

I never mind eating alone at a table.

I just talk to Clint Eastwood in the empty chair opposite.

I'd second Holsteins, I watched some of the CWS while enjoying some sliders and a delicious milkshake with ETOH in it.

I also enjoy solo dining in Vegas and have had good times at Lagasse's Stadium at The Palazzo, good Tuna Poke Chips and Shrimp Po Boy. For something slightly different, try eating upstairs at Margaritaville (Flamingo). I am not a huge chain restaurant fan but this one has better than average food and great people watching from the balcony or bar.

    Thanks all, great ideas.

    Holsteins looks great.

I guess any restaurant that has a bar with seats will serve food there by the sounds of it. (and not just drinks)

I read that you can skip the line at the Bellagio Buffet if you just go sit at the bar as well.

You can also skip the Bellagio line with an MLife card. Definitely gold, but I think even pearl would work. Not an issue for me, since I have one, but if you didn't have one, you could probably find one left in a machine and show it to get in the door. They'd ask you for ID, but only if you swiped the card to pay for your meal (which wouldn't work, obviously.) But if you were paying cash, just showing the card would get it done.

Not sure where that falls on your personal moral compass, and I'm not judging either way. But skipping the line at B buffet is my favorite MLife perk.

Holsteins is very good, and an excellent suggestion.

We ate at the bar at Joe's Stone Crab in the Forum Shops last trip because the dining room was full. The meal was fantastic, the service was good, and I could keep an eye on the baseball game.
