My husband and my dad are heading back from their 2 night trip to Vegas today. They had a great time and won a little here and there...but then lost it all back. Both of them brought only $500 with them...this was a quick, low rollin trip....and so far it looks like they'er not bringing a penny of it home.

They stayed at Paris on a CET comp and said it was really nice there. The room was clean and tidy and had a good view of the City Center. Last night they saw Terry Fator and said he was hilarious. It was totlaly worth the ticket price.

Now, I hope my mom and I have better luck when we go in October!!

Yeah whenever I tell people about a big win I always include the caveat "you win some, you lose some". Despite hitting 3 decent slotpots recently I'm still very down from blackjack overall but it's all for fun right? I'm glad they liked the Paris, i'm staying there for the 1st time myself soon, can't wait!

I am still under the impression at least 80% of the people that go to Vegas think they are coming home millionaires. I was part of that 80% my first trip. The past two trips, and the upcoming two I know better. I now go to more or less have fun. There is so much more to that city than gambling, and alot of it doesn't cost that much.

I recently won a few hundred at a casino Colorado. Later on a friend asked if I was paying for dinner. Don't get me wrong, it was a joke and I knew it.

However I made the suggestion that I could pay for dinner if the next time I went to Vegas and lost $3k I would have dinners on him every day for the next 3 months. :) Sadly...they declined.

My wife and I go out to Vegas three times every year (7 nights each trip), and play a lot of video poker. Our rooms are always comped, and we pay very little for meals. However, we have never had any grandiose expectations of bringing home lots & lots of profits. We are completely content to come home "even" in the gambling department ... and consider that in itself to be a wonderful winning trip, what with everything else we get for free.

I always hope for the best but expect the worst.
If I can come home with some of the money I had
taken with me then I consider it to be a fun trip.

I go with the expectation that I will lose my entire bankroll. That way, anything I come back with seems like winnings.

We all know the saying and the meaning of "Give and take".

Vegas seems to take more than give.

All in fun and entertainment though. It's all good. Vegas is a great place to vacation.

Who knows, you may get lucky where Vegas gives you a whole lot more than they take. It can and does happen. I think that's why a lot of us go.

Funny that you say that -- we were talking about that same thing after he got home. He didn't come home with 1 penny of his bankroll left. I did find out later from my dad that hubby had some good hits here and there but then gave it all back -- most of the time in search of the elusive bonus rounds on his favorite slot machines!

You have got to know when to quit. I am good at knowing when to quit, but to get there you have to first get up something, that is where I have trouble.

Did they have a good time?
Was the only money lost their gambling budget?
If yes to both, it sounds like a successful trip to me.

I'm debating how much to take on the next trip. I have the money set aside and waiting but I'm thinking of bringing only 25%. I will also lower my average bet by the same degree. That will make me a multiple red chip player instead of green or black. I think I can have as much fun without even wanting comps. I will start thinking hundreds per day instead of thousands.

I think I could do that, but if I had a monster craps roll it would kill me to know I was lowplaying. This past trip, that wouldn't have been an issue
