After a lot of going back and forth and trying to decide where to stay for our 2nd trip we have come up with this list and need some help making the decision! My husband was dead set on wanting to stay at MGM Grand again but I have actually gotten him to seriously consider these others so what do you think? I will also list prices to get an idea. Money IS an object to us so the higher the room gets is a bigger deal for us but also we are celebrating our 5th anniversary so it is doable. Caesars - either Augustus (for hope of a fountain view) or Octavius - either would be 850-800 Aria - Regular room - 608 or Corner suite - 980 Paris premier red room - 760 Cosmo - Terrace One Bedroom no view - 1000 Terrace One Bedroom with view - 1257 Mirage - Deluxe Tower room - 756 or go all out Mirage Tower Suite - 1234 Planet Hollywood - Resort Vista Room - 906 (to make hubs happy) MGM - One Bedroom Suite - 753 or Spa Suite - 556 The cheap end of our rooms only for money saving to spend for other things we added in- Flamingo - mini suite - 560 Planet Hollywood - Fountain View room - 430 We dont mind hoping a taxi and going all over to see and do. Last trip we only ate one breakfast at MGM but always adventured elsewhere for other meals. We like to gamble some but are not high rollers. We like to drink and enjoy a good cocktail service when playing in the casino. It will be just the two of us. We are pretty indecisive about stuff like this so any help would be great. Thanks!
I would go with MGM or Aria. Aria is really top notch! Seems to be not too pricey for your trip. But, remember Aria is 5 star, so are all the restaurants, and shopping, and gambling. The rest seem a little pricey for what they are... I can't recommend Planet Hollywood at all. Visit yes, stay no. If you stay at Flamingo, make sure your room is a GO room. Seems like you are looking for a suite, maybe check out Vdara or Trump? Much more bang for your buck room wise. But, no casino on property. (Vdara, you can walk into Aria, and Trump is really close to Wynn). The view from the Vdara City Corner Suite can't be topped!
* Reminder to factor in resort fees to your cost comparison. I like MGM a lot, very nice clean rooms, esp with the remodel, monorail stop, lots of dining options...but I also like variety and staying at different hotels.
Aria or MGM Grand Those would be my 2 picks. The MGM suites are really nice. Aria is nice enough without getting a suite. Only problem with Aria is that the restaurants are overpriced & suck. But you can go eat other places.
My wife really loved the spa suite at MGM, which seems like a good way to get a lot for your dollar. She still talks about it years later and wants to go back, even though we have better offers elsewhere.
Our first trip to Vegas was just this past March. We stayed at the Vdara. It is a non-gaming, non-smoking hotel. The rooms are suites and they were very luxurious and wasn't outrageously priced. The Aria is right next to it, and easy to walk to if you want to gamble. Our only issue was, it's not directly on the strip. It's located right behind the Cosmo so to get to the trip, our easiest way we found was having to walk through the valet parking area at the Cosmo and then through their casino to get to the strip. It also doesn't offer a lot of eating options, but there again, you can go somewhere else to eat, which is what we did. We are going back next month and have opted to save money on the hotel room in order to do more sightseeing and drinking. We are staying at Bill's Gambling Hall & Casino. Hope ya'll have a great trip!
I did not see the actual dates, but I would suggest looking at monthly rate calendars for a few places. Often a few days movement in our trip can be lots of dollars. Assume you past trip did not get you an offers? Do you have a players card and have you check to see if that got you a better rate?
My wife and I stayed in a one bedroom terrace view at the Cosmo during the second week of August (for our 20th wedding anniversary) and loved it. However, we stayed from Sunday-Thursday and only paid about $650 including tax (no resort fee at the Cosmo). I'm not sure I could justify spending $1257 for the same room at the Cosmo. Instead, I would go with the one bedroom suite at MGM.
Thanks for all the tips and advice so far. I guess I am trying more than my husband to stay somewhere else than MGM just for a change this time and to be a different location on the strip, etc? One place I was considering highly was Caesars. Does anyone have any input on staying there, and which tower, etc? I would love to have a fountain view. We have been in Caesars just to gamble and look around but never been in any of the rooms, etc. I also like Aria but seems like it lacks the cheesy vegas theme - haha. Also I wanted to add - that our dates are for Nov 3-7. Its arriving on a Saturday but thats the best we could do as flights leaving from our airport were MUCH more leaving Sunday for some reason!
Stay away from all MGM properties if money is an object....they'll nickle and dime you to death. Don't bother and you'll thank me later.
Can you elaborate on this? or are you talking about the resort fees? If the latter, I agree that you should at lease be aware and factor into the price. Other than that, I'm not sure what you are referring to.
I've stayed at Caesar's many times, Augustus Tower fountain view, Palace Tower pool view. If I were to pay for a room I would want to stay in a new Hotel. Don't get me wrong, Caesar's is nice, rooms and bathroom are very large but I've stayed there so many times. You can't hear the music of Bellagio fountains so to me it takes away from the whole experience. If you're not going to rent a car, I'd pick somewhere mid strip. My free rooms have cost me plenty some trips so I wish I could get myself to spend money on a room. My husband always says we can stay anywhere I'd like but " you can't gamble "!! I haven't taken him up on that offer yet! LOL I've seen pictures of Cosmo and the rooms look great. If they don't have a resort fee that would be a plus. I know LV has some big conventions in Nov where room prices will be crazy high. Make sure you check for this. What to do, what to do!! I'm sure whatever you decide you'll be happy.
