    Hey Guys

Heading to Vegas in November - Staying on the strip - I am an OK 1/2 NL player and would play MTT's for $100.
Any thoughts on the best poker rooms to enjoy Vegas at its best??
Will have to play at Caesars just to say I did but want to play at fun rooms where people interact at the tables not just talk poker and tell bad beat stories!!

    Cheers

Give IP a try late at night when the drunks are lubed up.

Hard to know where to start. Have a good look at this website for all the info you need on cash games and tournaments:

Places like Bally's & Planet Hollywood usually offer the best chance of making a profit. Bellagio, Aria, Venetian, Wynn will give you the best "I played in the top Vegas poker rooms" experience, but will usually have tougher competition.

I don't think you "have to" play at Caesar's at all. To me, it's an okay room. I'd rather play at Mirage because that is the room that Mike McDermott is going to in Rounders when he gets to Vegas. Also, I've had good times there and I remember liking the beer list.

The rooms that Tubbs mentioned, Aria, Venetian, Bellagio & Wynn are the top tier rooms. I never played at Aria but it gets good reviews. I have played at Wynn and it is the nicest, imo. I like Venetian but read here that they are under renovation so the room is not the same one. Bellagio is notorious for being rude but I always feel like I have to play there and win.

Agreed. It's universally panned as the worst "big room" in Vegas. Play at Bellagio or Venetian instead to get the experience you're looking for.

For social games that you seek, I would suggest Harrah's, Flamingo, and Bally's. None are very pretty, but normally social and fun.

I like the Venetian, but it's currently closed for remodeling and I don't know if it will be open by November. Sometimes the tables there are very tough.

    Mirage & MGM: Solid.

Bellagio? Meh. Okay, but sometimes not that friendly and only a $200 buy in.

Caesar's Palace? Don't like it. Cold vibe and some real poker degenerates there in some of my past visits.

Tournaments for your criteria: I would suggest Harrah's, MGM, and some of the Mirage tournaments.

Most importantly, have a great trip and write a poker trip report! :wave2:

I can give you good tourney advice

For under $100, the best structures are Harrahs for $60 10AM/3PM or $80 8PM (bounty) or TI several times a day for $50. Harrahs $6K chips, no re-entry. TI $4500 chips, no antes, re-entry first hour.

If you are willing to bump up to $125 you can get a vastly better tournament structure--BUT these are LONG tournament--8 to 9 hours. Aria & Venetian have these.

Mike - you've got a new fan. I'll be following your blog from now on. I especially appreciate the info on In-N-Out Burger. I'm also from the Midwest (Minnesota) and I LOVE a good greasy burger. I can't wait it try one Animal Style when I'm out there end of October. Keep up the good work!

I swear by the MGM. Well run room, plenty of dead money to be made and usually decent people at the tables.

Aria and Wynn are my two favorite rooms. Love the mix of players at both and have had many many hours of fun. Bellagio is a place to play just to say you played there for the most part, it was such a mix of weird/horrible tank calling action most of the time I played there and pretty much gave up on it....that and the staff just seemed scatterbrained.
