    My Trip Report

I made a trek down to the local casino today. (Local = 1.5hr drive) at the Hollywood Lawrenceburg. It really didn't scratch the itch like Vegas does. I don't know what it was about the casino, but I had planned on doing some serious gambling, but once I got there I just lost interest. I was hitting a couple bonuses on some quarter slots, but it just wasn't fun. I decided I'd rather save my money and throw it away in Vegas in 45 days than continue on. I took my 2 free tumblers and went home! (LOL, have to love the local freebies though...)

I refuse to go to my local casino (30 minutes) because it just feels like the people in there, shouldn't be.

Sometimes it's good to stop in and spin some reels, throw the dice, or hit a blackjack (or all 3)!
At least it will keep some offers coming in.
It sucks to leave a casino but comfort always comes knowing another trip awaits.
Hey I just realized your birthday must be close to mine, Oct 17. Have a blast in Vegas, I'm jealous but at least will get to St Louis for some gamble!

Although Hollywood is about the same drive time for me, I have never been in it. I split my visits between Rising Star (formerly Grand Victoria) and Belterra. In fact, I just did a comped overnighter at Belterra last week (first overnight in a long time there). Like you said, not Vegas, but it will have to do until I can get back there.

It didn't really help that I got extremely lost, despite having been there several times before. It was raining pretty hard and I took the wrong exit, ended up on some twisty road in a downpour. Maybe that's the problem.

Those are my local casinos as well, and I do enjoy myself in them, they definitely make me yearn for the real Vegas.

Those Jags aren't very good when the driver is navigating twisty lost roads in the rain.

I think the difference is that in Vegas you, and many others, are on vacation. But at local casinos, its just gambling. It always seems sad and slightly off to me when I go to the Flusherville casino - so I rarely do anymore.

Exactly! Most people in Vegas spent money for airfare, hotel & food and it becomes a destination. The local casino crowd just seem like they are pissing away the rent money.

OK, I know I'm painting with a broad brush, but it's just my opinion.

Hollywood has been going downhill ever since it was transformed from Argosy Casino. Sure, it's much larger now and has better eateries but the table game conditions keep getting worse. Most of the blackjack tables are now 25 hand with continuous shuffle machine. They only keep a few tables opened during the week so there is always a wait.

Out of all the Cincinnati area casinos, I prefer Belterra for the better comps. Comps at Hollywood are practically non existent.
