    Morning- happy labor day :drunk:

I'm excited for our upcoming trip in December. It's over Christmas week and for the first time ever we are bringing family with us to share our love of Vegas!

My nephew is turning 21 this December and that also is part of our celebration.

Not having kids of our own and as our 20s are pretty blurry, can anyone give input on hotel choices?

He and my sister (early 40s) will be sharing a room. I booked Planet Hollywood (standard room- Hollywood Hip) totally comped. But recently Paris (standard room) has become available totally comped.

Here are my thoughts and pro/cons:

Room wise, she would normally stay at property level like MGM. She is an Atlantic City fan and likes a nice spaces. That being said, which property's rooms are more updated? (Of course, she isn't going to have a tantrum either way as she knows Planet Ho and Paris rooms may not be as upscale as she would like, but she's okay with that for free.)

My nephew would probably enjoy Planet Ho but I'm thinking my sister would rather stay at Paris. How annoying would the vibe be at Planet Ho for an early 40s single woman? Would Paris be too "boring" for a 21 year old? My nephew is a bit shyer than most 21 year olds and my sister is a "young" 40s.

My memory of Planet Ho are how annoying the timeshare hawkers are at the strip entrance. I don't remember any at Paris.

The location and the food choices at Planet Ho are great and connection to the mall is a plus.

Gambling wise, my sis and nephew are mostly slot players, maybe some roulette or blackjack thrown in.

Would the $20 tip work better at one property than another for an upgraded room?

I've never stayed at either property(only CET property I've ever stayed at is Caesars) so I'm feeling unsure.

    Thanks for your input!

I haven't stayed at either place. However, I'm a 50 year old mother that recently visited Vegas with my 25 year old son after having done tons of research. From what I've read, the unfurbished rooms at Paris look like grandma's bedroom. We walked all through Planet Hollywood and liked it and, in fact, I had reservations here that only got changed when my dates changed and the price became too high. Their bathroom looks roomy and has a tub. So my vote would be Planet Hollywood.

I have stayed twice at Planet and once at Paris. Never been a fan of either but I like the Planet Hollywood rooms better. The Paris room theme just does not do much for me. The noise on the casino floor of Planet Hollywood is not too bad and can be avoided, therefore my vote goes to Planet Hollywood. Yes, the Miracle Mile Shops have a poor design (why can't you navigate to the casino from the center of the shops?) but it has ABC stores and more food/beverage options. As previously mentioned, the bathrooms are also nicer at Planet Hollywood. As for the $20 upgrade, I have scored upgrades both times at Planet Ho but did not try at Paris.

I think the rooms at both properties are comparable. I think a 21 year old guy will have more fun at PHo. As for th olrder set, the big difference from paris is that the crowd is younger at PHo and it is louder. Not club level loud, just louder than Paris. If that really bothers you, go with Paris. Personally, I prefer PHo. It has more energy and a better vibe

I've never stayed in either. But I was in Paris for the first time this weekend, and I enjoyed the vibe of the casino. We were just walking through, mostly, as we got there an hour and a half earlier for our show. It wasn't too loud, which I like in a casino.

But we did gamble at a video poker bar that served comped slushy drinks (frozen margarita, pina colada) while we played 25 cent video poker. This is an underrated thing, if you drink those kinds of drinks like my wife, because it's not as common as you think.

A 21 year old will be bored shitless at Paris. PHo is a much better choice, but I would also consider the Flamingo. The vibe there is MUCH younger and there is a ton of activity in the casino at night.

Great point. Paris did skew older.

I'm a fifty something female and I much prefer PHo to Paris. Paris is lovely, but a little too sedate even for me and the regular rooms are blah. I get up pretty early by Vegas standards, and PHo's casino is very quiet in the mornings but it is sure hopping (and loud) late at night. I have been upgraded to a resort room just by asking nicely and I really like those rooms. I love Earl of Sandwich & Planet Dailies and the Spice Market Buffet is decent. I am not a shopper but I like having the mall right there, especially the ABC store for inexpensive beverages and snacks. I talked a friend that always stayed at Paris into trying it, and it is now his home base whenever he is in Vegas.

Just my perspective but I thnk it would work nicely for your sis & nephew.

We're fans of Paris and it isn't real hard to use the $20 to get upgraded. We don't think the casino is dull or boring...lot's going on each time we were there and good mix of people. Paris rooms? ...the red or purple rooms are completely redone and very nice.... maybe the old blue rooms are a bit dated but not bad. We stayed at PH once and were surprised at how much smaller they were than the ones we get at Paris. If your nephew is a little shy - he may not feel completely comfortable with the crowd we saw a few weeks ago....very "in your face" and rude. It's not always that way but it was the week before school started many places and it could have been their last wild time before going back. We like that Paris & Bally's are connected and really like the food options....MAG/Sugar Factory/ Burger Brassiere. Can usually get a nice view of the pool and B fountain. Either way - hope you have a great trip!!

I've stayed many times at both properties. They are next door to each other, so you can easily spend time in one casino vs. other even if you're not staying there.

I think the rooms are a toss-up. PH's furniture and color scheme probably are a little more "hip" but the luxury quotient is about the same and the basic baths at both properties have tub and separate walk-in shower.

Both properties now have really bad BJ pits with scantily clad dancing women.

PH is a lot more fun and from 6 am to 8 pm its like any other casino after the hotties parade it gets louder but its not clublike i mean its easy to talk without screaming

I've stayed at both and I like both places. I'm in my late 30's and consider myself a boring person. If it were my choice, I would choose PH pretty easily. I don't find the casino to be loud at all.

I've stayed at PH twice in the past year, both times disappointing, service, and the stupid parking situation and the rooms are outdated and dinged up, haven't had a great meal there either, but the property is nice and there is lots to see and do, I mean there is a big shopping mall!

Paris it's been over a year, their rooms are on the same level probably.. but they have a lot of good restaurants at Paris (Love Mon Ami and Sugar Factory and CREPES!!), it's an easy in and out. You can walk to PH! I know my Mom would go with Paris if given the choice. I would too at this point.

For what it's worth, I didn't find PH loud.. to be honest I think the bigger party is at Chateau at Paris, than anything ever going on at Gallery.

If you are looking to dazzle, then PH. We checked in at 3, and didn't leave the joint till it was time to check out there is so much to do there.

Thanks all for the great responses. Okay, feeling better now.

By overwhelming consensus, it's Planet Ho. Though now we'll have to go play at Paris to get our "free" slushy drinks (thanks for the tip, Mike!). I'm glad that it's booked!

December is way too far off....
