I am taking my first trip in ten years and just remembered I used to collect dollar coins from each casino back when those coins were used in dollar machines. I also have blue Tropicana glasses from the 90s. Although I rarely use the stuff I buy (or take) from hotels/casinos I always feel compelled to bring something back. Do you take any souvenirs (other than a wad of cash or big cc bill) home?

Not any more, but I have a collection of ashtrays.
    Dunes
    Sands
    Trop
    Stardust
Riv etc and I haven't smoked in 20+ years. Most places now just have blank ashtrays, w/o a logo.

We still collect matchbooks if they are not generic. That's getting a lot harder these days.

I collect a $1 chip from every casino I visit. If they happen to still have $1 tokens I will collect a token and a chip. I think my collection has close to 40 tokens and chips by now.

Unfortunately I didn't start collecting until after my last trip downtown so I don't have any chips from there, including Fitzgerald's which is gone forever now

I only have a few chips from Vegas. Most of them are from Laughlin (I have chips from every casino there except the Avi Indian casino) or from California card rooms and Indian casinos. I guess this means I need to take more trips to Vegas :evillaugh

I use to collect matchbooks. Use to only because it seems most hotels/casinos/restaurants do seem to offer them any longer. I have some older ones from places like the Dunes, Aladdin and Sands. I've been going to Las Vegas for a long time.

We just started collecting $5 chips from every casino on the strip we gambled at......so far we have 17 chips from the south side of the strip up to Harrah's....but next spring we plan on getting many more.....then hope to display them on a framed board to hang somewhere in the house.

$1 chips. I also have a few special issue chips, mostly from the Luxor and Excalibur (a $25 one that I won in a machine, of all things) and I have a complete set of the Egyptian themed tokens the Luxor used to use. Somewhere I also have a bunch of the old decorated coin cups from the Luxor and Excalibur.

Oops. Just remembered. I also have some of the Egyptian pins that Luxor has issued in the past and a few of them from Excalibur.

Over the years, we've bought a ton of Egyptian themed stuff from the Luxor. We have two whole rooms in our house that are decorated themed Egyptian and one that is themed Celtic.

i collect $25k chips. well, i only keep the pictures of course. :) but they have to be mine for it to count. my ultimate goal is to own a $100k chip, but those are tough to get because they only have them in the private salons for the big boys.

Used to collect ashtrays and coffee mugs when the casino's had their names on them. :wink2: Dollar coins as well.
But now I just collect pens for work and notepads to write my grocery list on! :rolleyes2:

We collected Silver Strikes from around 2004 to about 2008.
I believe we have about 325 of them now.
Thankfully, they're the ones with .999 silver content. :wink2:
Now we store them safely and plan on selling the duplicates
    at some point.

We occasionally pick up shot glasses too.
I think the red ceramic Wynn glasses are really beautiful.
    Love those butterflies!

We also like to bring home the memo pads, as we're
both chronic makers of lists for just about everything.
Comes in handy to work it out with pad and pen
before entering it into our respective electronic devices. :evillaugh

Hubster addition: I also collect matchbooks and swizzle sticks from various casinos.

I like to keep my room key and have started a collection. Also will grab a pen and/or matches if available.

This reminded me of something that happened to us at one of our Luxor stays ... it was about 5-6 years ago. We stayed at the Luxor that year thru Christmas and New Year's Eve (17 nights total!) and came home on New Year's day. But it was a red-eye flight so our host arranged for us to have late check-out. I didn't want the maids coming into the room while we were still there so I had left the do not disturb sign on the door earlier in the day. When we checked out (2 pm maybe?), though, I actually took it with me because it was Egyptian.

About a month later, my SO called me on the phone and asked me what day we checked out of the Luxor. It turns out that they had billed our credit card for another night ... and the night on the 1st was really expensive. Something like $450. Which would have been ridiculous because we were comped all of the most expensive nights (including New Year's Eve) by our host the morning before we checked out so there is no way we would have paid that much for one night. When we talked to a manager he claimed that housekeeping said we had a do not disturb sign up all day and it wasn't removed until the following day. Well, I knew that was a lie because I had brought it home with me! LOL! Not to mention the fact we could obviously prove when we flew home ... Needless to say, they removed the charge. But that was almost a very expensive "souvenir"!

Check out Spinettis. It is a store about 4 blocks from Freemont St downtown. It is part store and part museum with chips from almost every casino - past and present. I recently started my $1 chip collection and like you was bummed I missed out on a few casinos I had visited that no longer exist (like O'Sheas). So for a slight premium (I think they were $4 each for defunct casinos, $2 or $3 each for current casinos) I was able to fill in my collection.

They also have dice and lots of other memoribilia for sale.

I began inadvertantly collecting chips (this is probably the most common collectors item) but I also have started collecting players club cards and hotel room cards keys.

Weird denomination chips. $2, $3, anything other than the standard.

I have old match books covers, chips, pens, etc. I just really don't anymore, as many are just nothing but dust collectors. I can't stand clutter
