Just booked our vacation for October and booked our rooms at Bill's Gambling Hall & Saloon. I read A LOT of reviews and the pros outweighed the cons for us. We wanted to save our money to spend on drinking and experiencing Vegas. If anyone has any advice on this hotel please let us know.
    Thanks.
P.S. I do understand the rooms aren't fancy, but are a good size. Plus the noise level was questionable for some people. But, as we plan to spend most of our time on the strip, this wasn't an issue for us.

    You should hope they're overbooked

We arrived two weeks ago for our reservation at Bill's. They were overbooked and had us moved to the Imperial Palace Penthouse Suite. For the same price of $35.00 a night we had a two bedroom, two bath suite. As an aside, a few police officers were inside Bill's dealing with a trouble maker.

One of my fav's for housing--not great BJ or VP--but craps is a good play---best place on the mid-strip to park---

I'll be checking in this Wednesday night, second stay. Will report back with any changes/improvements/problems. Got room through hotels.com for $35 a night, non-view. Will inquire about upgrade possibilities.

Sam, I might have run into you had I not changed my reservation. I was supposed to check into Bill's this coming Thursday.

Bill's is just fine. Great location, easy check in, easy parking. Fun casino, if you are reasonable in your expectations, you will be just fine!!

We stayed there last October. It is a no-frills location. If you request non-smoking, you'll get it, but the smoke from years past in the rooms, even though not terrible, is still noticeable. Once in your room, it is only a few steps away from the best location on the strip. Our girls had a room facing the back; we had one facing Paris and Bellagio. The noise level in our room was high but not unbearable; theirs' was quiet. It is a good stay for the money.

We stayed at Bills this past weekend (Fri-Tues). I had originally been looking at IP, but the construction and some of the recent negative reviews made me second guess myself. I booked us at Bills instead.

We arrived early in the day Friday and checked in at around 10 in the morning. She said there would be a $15 early check-in fee. I wasn't too happy about it (if the room is available, just give it to me. Why the fee?) but we wanted to take a rest on account of our early morning travels. I'd booked the cheapest, no-frills room and had requested non-smoking. She said that she had a two-bed, non-smoking room, or a king smoking room "with a view" available. We wanted the king but when we hesitated due to worrying about the smell, she offered to give us a key and go check it out. We did and couldn't smell any smoke so we took the room. When I went back down to complete check-in I asked the clerk how much the difference would be for the room, price-wise. She said normally they're $XX more per night (20? 30?, can't remember), but that she would "take care of it". That was nice.

Our room was on the third floor (310) which was fairly close to the strip and overlooked the Bally's sign. We could also see Paris' Eiffel Tower and the Bellagio Fountains. The room is good-sized, clean and basic. We didn't have any issue with the tub draining for showers. The light switches for the bathroom are weird, however. There's no switch for the bathroom light inside the bathroom itself. That switch is out in the vanity/sink area. The light switch for the vanity/sink area is in the room itself. It took some getting used to. I still didn't have it down completely by the end of our stay. Also, we seemed to sink further into one side of the bed than the other. It didn't affect our sleep, though.

I don't think you can beat the location of Bill's. It's right in the smack-dab middle of everything. It's a great home base for exploring the strip. It's old-school. Dark woods EVERYWHERE in the hotel and casino. Definitely has a classic feel to it.

We didn't eat or gamble at Bill's at all, though we did buy a couple of typically overpriced items at the sundry shop downstairs.

The biggest negative we experienced was the NOISE. On Friday night a pair of street drummers set up shop on the bridge between Bill's and Ballys. One of 'em was playing the bongos with drumsticks and it was LOUD. And, of course, all the drunk chicks yelling "WOOOOO!!!!" to encourage them. :grrr: We didn't sleep very well that night. The air conditioner helped to drown them out a little, but we could still hear them enough for it to be a nuisance. They finally stopped...AT 5 IN THE MORNING. Saturday night they were back again, but had set up on the sidewalk along Flamingo Rd. I think being closer to the building helped curb some of the noise because the A/C almost completely drowned their racket out that night. They were not back Sunday nor Monday night.

All in all, Bill's was a cheap, no-frills hotel with a great location for exploring the Strip. The staff was nice and helpful and the price was a tremendous value. I would stay there again, but would probably ask for a room "without a view" to avoid the late-night street noise.

    pics

I'm in a room at the flamingo overlooking bills, took lots of pics I'll load them Thur when home. Parking seems awesome if driving and very central local! If u want quiet and don't care about view - I'd ask for a room facing the flamingo... otherwise it might be a little noisy.

So true about the shower drains! The showers do have a nice little stained-glass window that you can open up though! I stayed there in June for four nights and it was just fine. Great location and if you are low maintenance you will be just fine.

    Thanks!

Thanks so much everyone for your wonderful comments. I had read, pretty extensively, the reviews about Bill's and was feeling pretty good about it. Then spoke with my friend, who goes to Vegas with her sister pretty frequently, and her sister said "yuck". Although my friend did say she thought it'd be ok. We are low maintenance people, lol. When we went last March, we stayed at the Vdara. It was a nice place to stay, so we have done the "nice, resort hotel". This go around, we wanted to focus on doing more sightseeing and drinking, so opted to spend less on the hotel. I feel so much better after reading everything ya'll have said about it. Thanks again!

The beauty of vegas is there is something for everyone at every price level. If you want the nicest most luxurious room in all of las vegas you can have it for a price.

However, if you're like me and are barely ever in your room and you just use it as a place to keep your stuff and S! S! and S! Then you are in luck because there are lots of places like that in vegas that won't break the bankroll.

If i'm going to relax, and plan on spending a lot of time in my room doing so I'm going to get a nice suite somewhere....if i'm going sightseeing alot I'll get a place at bills, or ip, or any place downtown.

Enjoy Bills! I think you made a great decision!

The Victorian Cafe in the back is a good place for a reasonable priced breakfast. They also have a 6.99 special for steak n eggs from 11PM to 6AM. I've never had it, but everything else I've had there has been really good.

We have enjoyed the "Late Night Special" many times, usually on our first morning as we are always up at the crack of dawn!! In addition to the Steak and Eggs, there is a bacon and egg deal too. I want to say 3 or 4.99?? The coffee was almost as much as the meal!
Victorian room is great, the Chinese food is very good too.

Thanks again everyone! I know we are going to try to make it to the breakfast special. Shouldn't be too hard as long as we stick to CST, considering we are normally up by 3:30AM to get significant other to his job, lol. So will probably make it to the Victorian room. Also want to try the HHAGG at Harrah's.

The Victorian Cafe is good. We had the early morning (late night?) breakfast, and also had a good prime rib dinner for pretty cheap. Can't remember the cost of it, though.
