I might not get the choice but if I do...Augustus or Octavius Tower at Caesars?

First stay at Caesars. I know that the rooms are similar and that the Augustus Tower is closer to the strip exits. It also seems that Augustus has the best views if the right room is secured. But new is nice and the Octavius rooms look very smart.

What I am probably most concerned about is the trek to the room. Is Octavius a lot further than Augustus? When I thought about it I realised that we usually head back to the room together 3 times a day. On top of that I usually make a couple of solo ventures so I will be doing the strip to room walk 5 times a day! Am I likely to get sick of the walk to the Octavius Tower?

Just from first glance, you could probably get a lot better view in the Augustus tower, esp. if your room was facing south.

The walk is not that much farther to the Octavious tower from the strip maybe another 2 or 3 minutes. The Octavious tower is closer to the pool.

Are there any true fountain view rooms in the Octavius Tower, or is the view of the fountains blocked by the Bellagio? I'm kind of in the same boat as Tubbs...trying to figure out which tower to request at check-in.

We stayed in the Octavius Tower in January and the room was simply amazing
nice view of the pool and the Moutnains and though the walk was a bit to the strip, but really who of us really can't use the extra walk. It is alot closer to the pool area so this it a give and take situation. There is also security guards roaming constantly so you feel pretty safe. Next week we have an Augustus tower room so I am looking forward to comparing the two but if per chance we get bumpled to Octavius I won't put up a fight

Please do not take an Octavius room if offered. Then you can come back and compare the Augustus & Octavius rooms to help me make a decision.

I have debated this exact question with myself many times, and have always opted for Augustus due to location--until last time I just stayed in Octavius to satisfy my curiosity. To briefly answer your question, yes, you will get tired of that walk and you should opt for Augustus.

My unnecessarily tedious and lengthy observations:

Caesars tries to promote Octavius as the "best" tower since it is new. The rooms are indeed nice, bathrooms are slightly nicer/brighter/flashier, there is a nice way to plug in all of your electronic devices on top of the desk, similar to Aria, and the TVs are much larger. Closets are a bit larger. Ice buckets seemed bigger/fancier/newer. There is a marble instead of carpeted entryway. It is much closer to the pool and half the rooms feature a full on view of the pool area. If any of these things are priorities for you--go with Octavius.

When Augustus first opened, the rooms were promoted as 650 sq. feet. While Octavius was under construction, the rooms were promoted at 550 sq. feet. Today, these numbers appear nowhere on any Caesars promotional material. Everyone concerned except me seems to have forgotten this detail, and ALL hotel employees will tell you rooms are the same size in both towers. The Octavius rooms seem a bit more "square" and the Augustus rooms seem more "rectangular". However, I simply feel that the rooms in Augustus are NOTICABLY BIGGER. Others opinions may vary.

The Augustus elevators are right next to the limo entrance, where you can also depart/return in a taxi, the Diamond lounge, and the Diamond or regular registration for both Augustus and Octavius towers. You are much closer to the casino/strip exit. No, that 3-5 min walk doesn't seem like much the first time, but after 20 or more times it gets aggravating.

The Augustus rooms all have a proper dining table with 4 chairs and a separate lounge area with sofa, 2 chairs, and coffee table. The entire arrangement just seems more spacious and feels more like a junior suite. The Octavius rooms have an L shaped sofa with a circular table in the middle, which is nice, but NOT a separate dining/lounge area. Augustus carpeting and furniture has been well kept up and does not yet seem dated. There are many rooms with excellent fountain views, which I invariably seem to get.

Tubbs, I recall in one of your other posts you are a Diamond as am I. If you check in at the Diamond registration, the option seems to be yours which tower, which view, and which bed configuration you want--no argument, wheedling, host calling, or $20 trick, etc necessary. They may have you pre blocked into something, which is often wrong, but they will put you wherever you want to be.

After perhaps 30-40 nights staying in Augustus over the years (12 in the past year) and one night in Octavius--my curiosity is satisfied. I'll keep the bigger room, the shorter walk, and the fountain view from now on.

I hope I have to make this choice when I get there. I am currently booked in a Forum tower room (I only had a choice of Roman or Forum on my comp, and have heard bad things about Roman). Hoping to smile sweetly for a bit of an upgrade! I know it's probably not going to happen (and I'm fine with that), but a girl can dream! :)

Excellent observations. Thanks for taking the time to detail the differences. I will definitely make a bid for an Augustus Tower room with a fountain view.

I agree with dankyone's excellent summary of the relative merits of the two towers, with these two very small additions:

Augustus rooms that are directly above the stoplight on Flamingo Road (the one that allows turn-in access to the limo entrance) can be noisy, particularly when motorcyclists accelerate after the light turns green. These rooms are close to the elevator bank, so we request to be at either end of the hall instead, and ask for a high floor too if possible. We did not experience similar noise issues in our one stay in the Octavius Tower because of the inward (pool) view.

My guess is that there is a bit of variation in the room sizes in the Augustus Tower. We were originally booked near the elevator bank during our most recent trip, and therefore requested to be moved to the end of the hallway after we saw the room. It seemed to us that the second room was ever-so-slightly smaller. But it was both higher and quieter -- with essentially the same view -- so we were happy regardless.

Yes, thanks everyone for the great info! We are going the week before Christmas week and are booked in a Forum room. Since that week is typically pretty slow, I'm going to try for an Augustus room, too. We might get lucky and get one that time of year!
