I am going to Vegas checking in 10/5 and checking out 10/8, I currently have a luxury 1 king bed at Paris for $620 total and a tower suite at Luxor for $430 total both are refundable 3 days before I checkin. Is a $200 price difference worth it?? I would like to have more spending money than hotel money but if it is worth the experience being my first time I am willing to splurge a little. A friend of mine keeps insisting that Excalibur would be good also but I'm not sure. Will prices maybe come down in the next month or so or are the prices I am seeing now gonna be about it or higher?? I was thinking about maybe doing the Venetian as well but I think location wise Paris could be better and the Venetian would be another $200 plus. I should have started planning/budgeting sooner but I already have the airline tickets so I can't change the dates. I am trying to get the best view/room/location. Thanks for the help!!

Paris is a better choice than Luxor.
Is there a reason you are limited to those properties?
During your dates Ballys is less than Paris and gives the benefit of a better location than Luxor.Luxor is badly in need of renovations.
I also noticed MGM is lower priced.
Aria is even priced less than Paris during your stay and is one of the nicest hotels in town.

Do NOT downgrade to the Excalibur. Luxor is a tough location, way south. Paris is mid-south and not a bad spot. You'll be able to gamble much cheaper at Luxor, if that matters to you.

Yes, why those 2 hotels only...any reason? Since this is a 1st trip - do you have a local casino you frequent that is tied to CET or MGM? I hate to tell anyone to spend an extra $200 they could use on other fun but I would not want to stay at Luxor. There are many good choices mid-strip that may be a little cheaper than Paris (although we love Paris & it is our home in LV but we get it comped)
If you can get a free upgrade at Paris with a nice strip / fountain view - maybe it would be worth it for the 1st time experience. The location / food can't be beat in that area. Good luck and hope you have a great time!

Those are not my only two choice but currently I have reservations at those too. I just have no idea whats the best bang for my money. I'd be willing to spend more if it was worth it but def can't do the Bellagio for $1300, maybe next year lol

Well - Paris has the best location - everything is close and the food options there and next door at PH are great. If no big deal...yes, pay the extra $200 over the L. Have fun!

"I am trying to get the best view/room/location"

If that is the case, then out of those two options, Paris.

PS: you may get better rates at Paris and other CET properties if you sign up for Total Rewards and book through them.

What about the best option trying to keep it close to the paris price budget maybe a little more on anywhere on the strip?? Also one of the reasons for the Paris choice is that dinner at Gordon's restaurant is a must for my friend that is coming with me but we don't have to stay at that hotel.

Check Ballys North Tower room prices anyway - you might be able to save a bit of cash & the North Tower rooms will be a lot larger than a Paris room. You will however lose a lot of view potential in a NT room. A South Tower will give you better view potential but the rooms are very dated in comarison (but also very large).

I love Paris & alternate between there & Flamingo GO. I have also stayed at Ballys so have no complaints on their NT rooms either. Paris is just comfortable for me to stay alone as it's easy access to rooms - shorter hallways, etc.

GO at Flamingo is also an option but if you are 2 guys it's not as comfy with the frosted bathroom door & the pink decor. Two women it is probably fine - my co-worker loved it when she came with me in March.

Hold on to your current reservation, and keep looking around, see what you find. Also, remember that a lot of the hotels have "resort fees", so don't forget to factor that into the price. (Paris, as with all CET properties, do not have resort fees). I think Paris is a good option for what you are looking for.

Here's what I'd do: Friday and Saturday nights will be the most expensive... Go for a less expensive/luxurious property like Imperial Palace (currently $110/nt) for those days, then splash out on your last night. If you really want to experience an amazing new hotel and an amazing view, get a Terrace Studio Fountain View or a Terrace One Bedroom Fountain View at the Cosmopolitan for $305. Total price for the three days falls right between Luxor and Paris. Imperial Palace will be clean, adequate and centrally located. Cosmopolitan is new, shiny, large well appointed rooms, has an open air balcony that you can actually go out on, and the best views possible. It's located a bit sout of center, but it's still in the heart of the action. For about the price of Paris you could either upgrade your weekend room to Bally's (bigger, nicer rooms, attached to the Paris) or upgrade Sunday to a Wraparound Terrace Suite which is even more incredible.

Another tip: You can book Cosmopolitan as a Marriott "Autograph" hotel, in case you are a Marrriott Rewards member or have any affiliations that might get you a discount.

Yes, Luxor (and all the other MGM Mirage properties) will have a resort fee, so you need to factor that in.

On the Caesars website, you can get Ballys south tower for $437 all in. That's about the same price as your res at the Luxor. Bally's is connected to Paris and the Bally's rooms are solid. Not fancy, but neither are the regular rooms at Paris, but perfectly servicable.

I don't care for the location of the Luxor, much happier mid-strip. If it were me, I'd take the best of both worlds and stay mid-strip at Bally's for the price of the Luxor.

Paris is the best option. Best location, best dining options, close to shopping at PH. It will give you a great first Vegas experience.

If you REALLY wanna save the money then Luxor is great too (but tack on the resort fee, but remember you have to pay for internet and things at Paris). It tends to be a younger crowd, you know 4 rowdy 20somethings per room. Excalibur is the Trashy Castle and we call it that for a reason hahaha. I'll stay there if everything else is just outrageously expensive on a weekend or something. The rooms are fine but the casino is a dump.

Venetian is amazing! But that's getting up there in price. I don't think it's necessary, just visiting should be fine.

Stick with Paris :) I think that will make you happy. Eat your Gordon ramsey steak!! Have some chocolate pancakes at Sugar Factory, eat some frittes at Mon Ami Gabi, go in the Eiffel Tower to see the view.

Here's a thought. If it's your first trip, book 3 different rooms on 3 different nights. Pick one mid strip, one north, and one south. It will get you to see the entire town. Pick your best hotel (maybe venetian?) on the cheapest night. Book your worst hotel (luxor?) on the most expensive night.

Don't stay at IP or Excalibur unless you really can't afford anything else.

I understand your thought process, and I'm sure that is a great idea for a lot of people, but it wouldn't work for me. I want to be out exploring Vegas, and if its my first time there, I will be wanting to see everything possible, not packing and unpacking, checking in and out, and moving every day. Think a strategy like that thru before you commit, and make sure it suits you.

Agree 100%. I've never done that. But if I knew today that I'd only have one trip to vegas in my life, and comps weren't important, I might do it. In my situation, I've done it on different trips. I've stayed on each part of the strip, and now know that I like the mid-south the best.

Treasure island is currently 119 a night for your dates on hotwire ( could be mirage, but likely ti). And 5 star strip south (vdara, aria, or cosmo) is 158 a night for your dates. I would do either one ahead of your choices and prices ( www.betterbidding.com can confirm exactly which properties are appearing ).

    Cheers
