No questions in this post. Just very excited and want to say I have my hotel booked for March Madness 2013!!! 4 nights comped at the Plaza. Now I just need to book the flight. Can't wait until SW opens up their schedule. Hopefully their pricing will be similar to what I am seeing now.

    Only 7 months to go.

Just a heads up that the SW site shows that they will be opening up the schedule on Monday.

    Excellent plan!
I usually hit Vegas for the second week of MM (sweet 16) myself, but I'm a bit of an oddball

We, too, go to Vegas every year for opening weekend. We'll arrive Tuesday evening, 3/19, and leave Monday, 3/25. Rock Chalk :)

The perfect length of time for a March Madness trip. :)

4-7 people in my family have gone the last 4 years. We did the 2nd weekend the first year and then were able to try out the first weekend the following year. The difference in excitement around the sports books is amazing. I didn't mind Thurs/Fri of the 2nd weekend, but Sat/Sun was rough if you cared very little about any team in it.

With either weekend, it is still Vegas though, and I can see why some would want to avoid the larger crowds at the first rounds. It can be impossible at times to just get a seat anywhere to watch the games as a group.

Thanks, we think so too! The first year (2002 or 2003) my husband booked the trip as a surprise Christmas gift to me. Kudos to him for finding the perfect gift, but our flight arrived on THURSDAY morning! The first games were tipping off as we landed at McCarren. When the limo drove up to our hotel, I jumped out and ran to the Sportsbook, leaving him to check in, deal with luggage, etc. He knew where he'd find me. It's still the perfect Christmas gift, but we arrive early so we can spend Wednesday making bets for the Thur/Fri games and do a nice dinner. The rest of the trip is all basketball.

    What sportsbook is your favorite?

    I'll be there too.

I just stopped by looking for information of parlay cards for March Madness. I seriously think with 64 teams to choose from the odds of hitting a large parlay is better than say, any given Sunday.

I got my room comped at Rio.

If anyone can tell me about March Madness parlay cards I'm interested. I have no idea what to expect. Maybe they don;t use them and I'll have to pick teams off the board.

Hope you all enjoy the weekend!

Parlay cards are available for the games Thursday and Friday. MGM casinos put out the parlay cards sometime on Wednesday.
One of my best wins last year was on a parlay card where I'd picked Kansas State (over Southern Miss), FSU (over St Bonaventure), NC State (over SDSU) and Norfolk St (over Missouri). I was playing roulette and hubby was watching the game when Missouri lost and the crowd in the book groaned.

The parlay cards are set up with different risk points assigned to each team. You have to pick at least three teams with a minimum risk total of 20 points. I believe the payoff odds start at 6:2. The payoff odds increase with increased risk points.

    I love the NCAA tournament!

Booked and booked! This year I am going for the opening round (the real opening round, not that Tuesday/Wednesday crap) and then returning for final four Saturday! Hopefully my Cats make it to that last weekend again, but either way it will be a blast

I would avoid the cards if you can. My dad had 2 cards last year(6 and 8 picks) both lose only because he tied on one of the bets on each card. If he would have gone to the counter to do it, he would have won both.

I also suggest doing your own because you generally get better odds if you mix in a money line bet. You get calculated odds instead of the pre calculated odds for X number of picks.

Oh, if you were doing something like a 20 game parley, I'd just use a card. I'm not even sure if they accept such a thing at the window. I have never done anything more than 8 picks.

Sadly, Kelly, I'm not sure either of our teams are championship contenders this year. But they both have the potential to make the second weekend!

UK - sadly, that may be the case, but I'm forever the optimist and there's always next year :)

Come the first weekend this year. We can each wear our respective shades of blue and give the other hell if our team is upset!

Thanks. I was thinking about the points too. Football cards only offer point spreads. I want straight up m/l. 20 teams is risking it, but 8-12 teams is doable.

I suggest people there for March Madness run a google search for winning percentage of seeds in first round of 64. I may have already posted it here, but #1 seeds have only lost 1 game in 30 years. #2 are 89% winners. #3 are 83% winners, and #4 are 79% winners. From their it can get upsetting.

These are not exact as I don't have my notes in front of me, but it's close. Really. Just looking it up could help you hit a big one. That's right I have notes and I don't even know who's playing. A simple box scheme could do it.
