Yes....I grew up in the PACNW:poke: and summer "used to be" my favorite season.

Now that we live in VA, I love the fall and the great golf and baseball weather and beautiful fall colors that seem to last for a month+. Sept-Nov and Apr-June here are fabulous....July & Aug...not so much.

Fall to me was always back to school shopping, getting the sweaters out, buying new pens & notebooks. Packing up to go back to school (I went to boarding school at age 13)

Must be too many years of education, but fall will always feel like "back to school" for me. Speaking of - new students load in tomorrow, campus will be a mess, and I am WORKING FROM HOME:evillaugh

Sadly - in NC, I almost never get to wear a sweater in the fall. I'm lucky if I can do it in January:rolleyes2:

Oh, and the smell of dead leaves. I love the smell of autumn leaves, and burning leaves. My husband HATES the smell of burning leaves, but because he loves me, he always lets me burn one small batch in the firepit:cheers:

    1. Leaves. Lots of them, front yard
    2. Charlie Brown Halloween decorations
    3. Cozy clothes

I LOVE that time still...even though in Texas we only have fall for about 5 days a year...

    Here's my list:

    1. The smell of the kitchen when mom went to the Apple Fest and would spend an entire day making apple pies (Apple fest is in October here in upstate NY).

    2. The smell of the leaves in the backyard. My friends and I making GIANT piles of leaves and playing in them.

    3. Having grown up playing football from age 7 through age 18, it was the smell of the field. Whether it was on cold weekend mornings, or those memorable Friday night games under the lights at the high school stadium. There was something about the smell and feel of the grass, on those cool autumn days/nights that will always be with me... LOVED those Friday night games.... Oh to be young again.. LOL

    4. Hunting trips with my father. Bow hunting in early fall, gun hunting in late fall. Dad started taking me hunting when I was 14. Looked forward to it every year. Lost my dad to cancer in 1998. Haven't been hunting since.... Early mornings in the woods of upstate New York were awesome. COLD, everything so pure, quiet. Good memories. Didn't matter if we shot something or not, it was a tradition and it revolved around autumn.

    great post !!

    Regards,
