My husband now wants to stay downtown at the Nugget, because he thinks having a rental car will be easier to manuever with parking, coming and going, etc. downtown vs. the strip.

If I purchase a Landry's card, does that automatically give us a free upgrade for a room? I was going to reserve the Gold Club room, but wanted to ask this question first.

    Thank you all in advance.

I think it depends on the rate you book under. We had a recent stay, had booked the "summer blast" email special, and upon check in presented my Landry's card. The gal said you can only use one discount at a time. The card can also be used for discounts in all their restaurants, too, so I guess it doesn't hurt to get it. You never know, you may get the upgrade! Good luck and have fun..we left some money at the GN for you to win.

    Mango68,

Thanks for the info. I am booking directly from their web site, and nothing is mentioned about a "special rate" or discount on their web site.

I will make the reservation. Thinking I may want to call the Nugget and reserve the carson room, in hopes of getting an upgrade with the Landry's card.

I will let you know what I find out.

Thanks and hope to hear from others as well.

    Hi All,

Just an FYI, just got off the phone from the Nugget and she said the card entitles you to a free upgrade if one is available.

So I ordered the Landry's card, and I sure hope I get it in time. I didn't realize it takes 2-3 weeks to get it, but the CSR at Landry's told me, I should receive it before we leave, which is Sept. 3rd.

    Wish me luck. :)

    My card arrived really quickly.

Someone posted a few weeks ago that they were upset that they did not get upgraded with their Landry card. One person responded with what I thought was really good advice... Never book less than what you will be happy with.

The upgrade may or may not happen.

You should have good luck with an upgrade from the Carson Tower unless things are very crowded. Golden Nugget has very good self parking.

The card costs $25, but you get that back anyway making it effectively free.

Can't recommend the Nugget enough, I really love the place!

We stayed in the Carson Tower this trip...Gold Tower last trip. Honestly, the only difference in the rooms was the distance to the casino. Both times we had views of the Bank Of America and rooftops and distant mountains.

Ah, Cinnamonstick, you have relieved a bit of stress from me, by stating that your replacement card came pretty quick. Now,lets hope I get the Landry's card before we leave. And i know, I do worry about EVERYTHING. LOL

In the event you didn't get your card in time, you could call them for your member # or print it out from the website.... I would think that would suffice.

It seems to be that the upgrades happen more when the rooms were booked at full price.

I will be there Tuesday for 3 nights and have a Landry's card. I will update with what happened after I check in. Although I am checking in on my actual birthday, I don't have high hopes of getting the Landry's upgrade. I got a steal of a rate on Hotels.com for $91.48 (including tax) total for 3 nights! I am happy with that regardless!

You did get an awesome deal for the Nugget. Kudos to you. And I would bet, that you do get an upgrade becasue it is your birthday.

The reservationist said, that I actually have to have the card in hand, to get the upgrade, but I am going to take your advice, get my member number just in case, and maybe speak to a hotel Mgr. if I don't have my card in time. The lady that I spoke to at landry's seemed to think I would have the card before we leave.

Let us know how your trip goes. Hope you win.

I have a Landrys card and when I am in Vegas I will have $50 on it , I was just wondering if it is possible to run up a tab at a bar at the Golden Nugget , since they own the place , and use the card to pay for it , or does it have to be for dining.

It does not give details on their website as to whether this is possible.

    Anyone tried it.

Techno, it is only good at certain locations, Grotto, Red Sushi, Vic & Anthony's, Chart House. I did a cost benefit for all of the Nugget plces and (for me) Red Sushi was the best play for alcohol but only because I like cold sake. Grotto would be your best bet for appetizers and simply drinking.
