what do you cut on to save money for Vegas?

To be real honest I don't really have to save up for my bank roll but I can't stop cutting on expenses. ( not that I have all the money in the world but I have the amount I want to take/spend saved up already)
For some reason I keep thinking ' no you don't need this, save your money for Vegas'
I wanted to buy a 600 euro winter coat and then I thought 'you have enough coats to make it through the next ice age '
I have more pairs of shoes than my wife :shame:
No more online gambling (except till I empty my current online bank roll on sportsbook)

Do more people have this or is it some kind of premature measurement I'm taking because I unconsciously know I'm gonna smash my bankroll and probably allot more?

Ps about the shoes I'm not gay or anything just have lots of shoes :Þ

 

I use income tax refunds for vacations.

 

I only feed my kids twice a day .

We never saved so to speak for our BR or trips but we did increase our BR by simply quitting going to the local casinos, that added 1200/month for our trips.

Thats what I do as well. The refund comes at a great time, cold as shit in Minnesota and nice in Vegas. Great time to get out of here for a few days

 

over here they have a magical place called craigslist. i am sure there is a uk equal.

Sell some of that stuff. i start about 2 months ahead and pay for the whole trip with junk from the back of my closets.

 

I don't cut anything, I just spend what I make at my second job.

 

I Definatly try to stop going to my local Indian casinos,at least a month before a trip,but usually fail to do so.

 

How do I save money for future Vegas trips?

I minimize gambling when I'm in Vegas.

 

I tend to live a frugal lifestyle. I cook, I don't eat out very often. I tend to buy food and things on sale. I go to happy hour about 3 times a week $2 - 16 oz dos equis $1 tip, complimentary snacks. I also drive efficiently most of the time. When I am in Vegas I try to take advantage of discounts as much as possible. And I put that money towards BR and better buffets.

 

Wait, what?! People get refund checks?! That would be awesome...

 

I brown bag my lunch as opposed to buying lunch at work. Comes out to about $1,600 dollars extra cash to throw on the crap table, lol!

 

It's not easy for us to save money to do anything

Seems like being retired we have more time to spend money on doing this,going there etc. It's just a question of whats going to run out first ,my bucket list,our money or us.

 

I stop purchasing for my hobby/investment collection, until I get back from Las Vegas. I may even sell a few pieces if the market and timing is right. I am also retired, but I started my personal collection in my mid-twenty's, so I have a good source to draw from.

 

We have always been conservative spenders, and regular savers. We are still in the same house after 44 years, and now enjoying retirement, with absolutely no financial obligations other than the normal routine.

Our three Vegas trips per year are typically for 7 nights, and we never pay for a room, and with comps & coupons, our dining expense is usually less that $50. We also often have free flights using our SWA Rapid Rewards.

So, a bankroll of about $2500 for our video poker play is no problem, as we never seem to lose more $500 - $600, and sometimes come home winners.

Life is good .....

 

Always save my mileage reimbursement checks from work. Always save my change in a jar. Use my flex reimbursements if going in the summer or fall, If going in the winter I use my tax refunds. Usually take a little out of savings if I don't have quite enough. But I rarely come home broke, so the savings amount ususally goes back into savings.

Just a little more than 3 weeks until I'm there.

 

In the past we would figure out about 6-8 months ahead of time when we'd be going on a trip (Vegas or otherwise) and then just start putting aside money each month for the trip and save up that way... not really cutting anything out.

Now we just book trips either the last week of the month or the first week and then just take money out of my end of the month check to bankroll the trip.
